I thought they were opening up them diversions on weekends. In answer to the OP w2 is a fine trail, skyline might be worth a look but there’s a lot of fire-trail. Brechfa double of gorlech and raven figure 8 is nice too but a bit further into Wales.

Based on a post abovel; how do you guys cope with wet things? As in what do your store them in. If it rains and your bivvy/tarp are wet on day one, what do you keep them in. I take it the dry bag is for clean stuff/sleeping bag.

    depending on OS:
    flac -cd input.flac | lame -h – output.mp3

I believe winamp and programs like that can do it, but I don’t use windows.

You have a lot of options of places to stay with most of the South Wales trails being easily accessed from the M4 corridor. Gower (mentioned above) is a brilliant option, as the place really is a place of outstanding natural beauty. Not sure about bike friendly B&Bs having no need to use them (living here).

I have used endomondo for most of the year, and I love it. The difference between the paid for version and the free can be found here: http://www.endomondo.com/help the free version is ace though, I’ve not seen a need to upgrade.

Hi guys I was reading Question of Weight today, and realised the tarp I had on my shopping list: DD TARP is overweight. Does anybody have a similar underweight suggestion for me. I’ve noticed everything else on my shopping list is under the max weight, its probably not that big a deal but I am not sure how much the pegs are going to weigh on top.

In a nutshell (or a freezer bag ), it’s rehydrating/cooking yer nosh with near boiling water in a freezer bag insulated in a little home-made cosy. Great for lightweight, washing up free excursions.

However, not without its problems as I don’t think that the others were too impressed with my spontaneous campfire-side custard fountain caused by the action of a spork’s prongs on the delicate fabric of a freezer bag

sounds impressive, did you dehydrate the food yourself? If you went for a spoon instead of the spork would that minimise the risk?

I’m using the freezer bag method of cooking http://www.trailcooking.com/ …..

what exactly is, tried to read that site but it seemed to be a lot about the recipes and not about what to do (but I have had a bit too much cider right now)

valleydaddy I am Pencoed/Bridgend based (from the Rhondda originally). Any place that’s as local as possible that you know would be great, just to get a bit of practice in 😉

Wow this thread has inspired to give bike tracking a sample, dont suppose anybody knows any suitable sort of campsites around afan/heads of the valleys in south wales, so I can go practice some fieldcraft with my bike.
