indeed. I have many useless body parts. At the moment I’m finding my legs particularly useless, and one of my ears has sunburn.

Maybe if I grew pubes on my ears they wouldn’t get sunburnt. bloody god didn’t think of that did he. then again, can you get sunburnt ears if you’re omnipotent?

I think I’ve struck the pedals about 3 times in 20 years of riding with all sorts of bikes.

Just try a few hora, as one with a low bb that rides badly is going to be shite all use compared to a high bb that rides well.

so, rudeboy what you’re saying is that you couldn’t have a meaningful relationship with, say a lowlands gorilla from the Congo?

You know what, I’m offended by that. Time after time you’ve got angry cos people have judged you on here, and yet straight off you’ve rubbished the idea because of your prejudices. What if the lowlands gorilla was called Michaela, and actually was a great dancer, kept up to date with current affairs, and was an accomplished writer? What if she had a large group of friends that you could potentially get on well with and would enhance your relationship further?

Frankly, I know she could do a lot better than you, but that’s not the point. You judgmental muppet.

are you allowed to veet the chimp first, so at least it’s like a skinny girl with big arms and bow legs. Oh, and a big red bum?

Or, are you allowed to go clubbing with the seal first, just to, err, drop it a couple of roofies?

leave the bikes outside with tea towels.

then they’ll choose the tea towels in preference to an on-one.

    As with GG on this.

the NCP has terms of usage of its premises. You (or whoever was driving) decided not to meet them, and now you want to weasel out of the consequences?

    Grow up.

anything graphics based or ironic just makes you look like a ****.

Plain is where it’s always been at, and non bike brand unless you’re on a road bike, at which point Rapha is acceptable.

if someone offers you cash, and you believe that offer to be genuine, then it’s theirs as far as I’m concerned.

This whole dibbs thing is toss, as I believe it puts off other buyers who may actually take the item as they think it’s already sold. equally the number of picture collectors on here that request pictures and you never hear from them again is ridiculous. There’s quite a few people whose “pics please” will just get ignored from me as they seem to want pictures of everything that’s for sale!

Equally if I get an email from someone that sneaks in before an email from someone who has also posted a reply here, the latter gets it every time.

But the one that really gets me is the WTD ads where you post up and say “I’ve got one”, and they post up “i’ll take it” and then expect you to then email them. I’m lazy, you want it, you make the effort, after all you’re trying to get it on the cheap more often than not!

just go to myprotein.co.uk and get a tub of their electolyte plus pills – and have one every couple of hours with plain water if you’re sweating a lot.

There’s about a years worth of heavy riding in one pot for about £5. I use them for serious summer training.

    just do pyramids.

    10 mins warm up
    6 mins at low resistance
    5 mins higher resistance
    4 mins higher
    3 mins
    2 mins
1 min sprint (to virtual throw-up)

and then back down again. That’s an hour that will work.

it’s a brave man that uses a reseller. You end up paying a lot more in my and the experience of most people I know that have used them. Surprising amounts of what you got through your major player contract for nothing suddenly became chargeable or subject to big rate increases. That said 3 months ago I bought myself out of a vodafone contract as their service level was appalling for me.

    never again for me.

mark, give me a call later, I’ll explain it all to you in strict no nonsense stuff that I’ve genuinely tested as part of my training. It’ll make sense, even more so than some of the guff up there. (some are right, but those talking about having to drink 2-3 litres of water a day are from another planet)

Laughing my ass off at the Kysirium haters. Have you ridden a pair for a few seasons? Nope didn’t think so.

Don’t need to – I have Eastons which I have had for nearly 2 years now, with no concern over the strength, durability and longevity of bearings. And they were cheaper and lighter.

    No brainer to me.

GW – there are some shite ones out there for sure, but in crap road conditions the benefit of a good tyre is minimal against a crap one of the same width as much of it is the amount of crap on the road effectively forming a layer of grease.

    pk-ripper

I’ve not found there’s much difference in grip. best bet is to try something slightly wider and drop the pressure slightly which will allow the tyre to deform more.

tread patterns will make dick all difference on the road.

Or, for even more stress, take peidi’s idea that step further, and get your male next door neighbour and you to dress up in your wifes underwear with you on the sofa, and try and stop her finding you both.

I went through this a year or so ago, and basically concluded that:

1 – mavics are overpriced and heavy for the same price of other brands in the £500 range
2 – fulcrums I didn’t like the look of and I didn’t know enough about them as a brand
    3 – campag weren’t even an option
4 – bontrager didn’t have one in my price range as I was upgrading from racelites
5 – shimano dura-ace, probably would have gone for these if I didn’t get the Eastons (a couple of mates have them and they’re nice)
6 – DT I had concerns about the longevity of their rims as their light weight was due to the lack of eyelets and had been known to fail on the spoke hole.

So, I went for Easton Orion 2s (I think they’re now the EA90s), which have been fantastic. Light, stiff, seem more than tough enough and accelerate very quickly. The velomax hubs are very very smooth too, and they use spokes that both my local road shops stock and build with. When I’m not using the aero wheels these are straight on the bike.

I’ve always found that in riding gloves I’m a large or an XL, but I don’t have particularly big hands. riding glove sizing is bollocks, so SimonD is spot on.

I went to Reading last year, and whilst the music was good, the festival experience is frankly a bit sh1t.

I’d rather spend the £150 or whatever it is plus travel on a few bands playing smaller venues.

    smelly people?

the headline acts over the last few years haven’t incentivised me to go at all, apart from maybe Jay-z, and I don’t listen to his music.

Springsteen – dull. Still, I suppose it’ll help meet the noise abatement requirements into the night when everyone’s comatose.
