The site is back up, but all comments require “moderation” – so they won’t see the light of day. Regardless, this is what I have tried to leave:

Lee, Hamish, IWH (insert this week’s name of choice) – could you please tell me how you’re able to post reviews of bike equipment, whilst leaving myself and a number of other riders without refunds or goods for items you sold through the classifieds on Singletrack?

This is all despite written and verbal assurances (yes I spoke to you on the phone and made you read my bank details back to me to ensure they were correct) that I would receive a refund within 2 days. 2 weeks now…

When can I, and the others involved expect you to resolve this?

I spoke to “Lee” a couple of weeks ago, where he promised to put the money in my bank account, and I made him read the bank details back to me to ensure they were correct.

What a surprise when I got absolutely nothing. It sounds like the only way to get anything is to take a visit to Plymouth.

    Of course not andrew.

I expect to see the pope gambolling through fields hand in hand with josef fritzl and sharing a calippo before I even get a response from lee.

Lympston’s not far from Plymouth though…

But dan, as you posted on BM:

When IWH contacted me from the Sea Otter we discussed the possibility of me getting the Air shock for about £280 but I declined as I couldn’t really afford it at the time….even though I really wanted one.

He’s enclosed a polite note explaining that he managed to negotiate an end-of-sea otter price.

Clearly he gave an indication to you at the time that it did. it’s only now you know different. Do you really think the spring would have been ‘purchased’ as well as the air shock?

I suspect you’ll be waiting a long time. A very long time.

nope, but I would imagine Visa (who have settled with Blue CBR) may be interested that there are a number of parties owed cash who would happily join them in any recovery action.

Everything I’ve collated thus far can and will be shared with them. Some of it is quite interesting.

pk-ripper – IWH has been in contact with my via text.

I’ve asked him to get his mate in the states to post the ti coil out to him or me (IWH had to rush back from US at short notice and left ti coil with rest of his luggage).

tbh I’d prefer to get the spring rather than a refund as they’re so hard to get hold of

I shall update as soon as anything changes.

How much or what goods are you owed btw? (sorry haven’t the energy to read through last 25 odd pages!)

    ta

Dan, I’m owed £80 for brakes and handlebars, so if you could remind him of that in quite a blunt way that would be good. Except Lee seems to happily ignore my emails.

However, in your position I wouldn’t hold out much hope for the ti spring, as I recall the air shock came back from sea otter. Now, let me think which you’d leave behind if you were in a hurry – the heavy air shock that no-one’s ordered, or the lighter ti-spring that you’ve taken money for and owe someone?

Rocket science it isn’t. In my opinion you’re being fed one of the many lines that have and likely will continue to be trotted out in order to stall the process. But as someone so rightly said above, which is harder to get hold of, the spring or the refund? I’d take the refund if I were you and cease all dealings with this chap.

Cheers for the info – should be able to respond to you properly tomorrow with some useful information. I’d be very interested as to where Visa and Paypal could take this now they’re creditors.

Still nothing here, not even a holding email to explain any delays.

This is starting to get ridiculous. Lee, courtesy is free.

Could those involved and either missing goods and / or owed refunds please drop me a mail with the details and any salient points (hopefully including dates of communications, and copies of ‘postage receipts etc)?

If we begin recording it all in one place it should become clearer and if we proceed as a group it will carry more weight. Splitlip above raises a very interesting point regarding intent and it’s an avenue that needs further investigation.

What currently upsets me a fair degree is this guy is trying to build his name in the biking world with the new website and trips to sea otter etc, and yet those he’s speaking too are unlikely to have any awareness of this and the reputation that’s gathering pace amongst the “little people”.

I’ve heard nothing still. Even emailed the “ride559” contact us option, including a link to this thread and they haven’t bothered to reply either.

For those with outstanding cash, I’m likely to go down the legal route very shortly with that link from Higgo looking quite useful. Given the cumulative amount involved, and the total lack of any response from IWH / Lee Anderson, that appears to be the only option to move this along rather than wasting more time.

I believe there is sufficient evidence to support this.

Daffy, by what method have you heard from Lee? I’ve had nothing on either the email that he has previous correspondence with me on, or on the email that’s clear through my username here?

I have, in the meantime mailed the guys on 559, so am hoping that’s a shared email and one of the other chaps involved might have a look.

given the nature of your posts thus far, and what looks like all classifieds, no help from me I’m afraid. Given recent events on here, I’m cynical to say the least.

You want free money? So do I.

yup, CTC card in my wallet – I commute on the road and wouldn’t really ride without it these days.

Sorry that you’ve had this, and hope you’re able to reslove it soon. Sadly there are certain things worth shelling out for and insurance for this sort of eventuality is one of them. I’m sure with an expensive bike like an SJ Pro that you won’t generally ride on your own, and so I’d imagine one of your riding pals could help you out with a spare bike.

There are plenty of avenues open via the phone / letter / change of solicitor etc if you want to. Sadly, I appear to have lost some cash on here recently, so I’m unable to offer any assistance.

I agree that it’s a civil matter at the moment which is why I’m trying to get a handle on the amounts involved. And number of people.

Once that’s known then we may have a clearer idea how best to proceed.

    Ok, so that’s:

    PK-ripper – £80
    Daffy – £75

    Running total – £155

Can we compile a succinct list of who’s down what to this IWH chap and how many are actually involved?

    Me – £80

chaps, can we take this back to IWH – if you want to bash Hora, take it elsewhere – there’s people who’ve already outlayed cash here rather than slightly (and rightly) disgruntled sellers.

Nothing received here despite email assurances twice. Oh, and the fact that the parcel was supposedly undeliverable and returned to the post office, so I know for a fact that he should have been at a post office on 28 April.

Just emailed google checkout (which I paid through) and included a link to this thread. Lets see if they fancy getting my cash back.

bomberman, just read things in context. If you take everything literally and as a personal affront because they express an opinion that’s different to yours then you’ll be a very angry person for a long time. The language I used, I don’t believe to be offensive – if you think piss is a bad word then you’ll likely explode if you ever meet an irishman. Probably best keep Hollyoaks off the TV too – it’s on at 1830 and they say “crap” in that fairly regularly.

As for opening an email with “who the F*ck do you think you are? what an complete and utter nob cheese you are” and now trying to dress it up as an invite to a cup of tea? I find that incredibly immature and it smacks of a total lack of humility and self-awareness.

    pk-ripper

Can I just add in that I’m £80 down at the moment?

    pk-ripper

Oh dear. Just for the record, it’s not worth disagreeing with the man above otherwise you may get an email such as that below:

who the F*ck do you think you are? what an complete and utter nob cheese you are posting insults at me on an internet forum. Take a look in the mirror, and THEN ask yourself who needs to grow up.

and here is my address. you are welcome to come round and talk to me face to face.

    *address removed*

    see you soon (i doubt).

    Tim

Please accept my gracious apologies Tim, as I don’t like to insult people without good humour, and honestly believe that what I said was, and certainly was intended to be in good humour, and not out of place with similar banter that appears here minute by minute. I’m sorry that you feel the need to invite me round to talk to you face to face, I don’t see that it will achieve anything. Unless of course it’s for the show “come dine with me” as I’d get to sample your cooking and be on TV. I’d like that.

Bomberman, just as a question, how old are you? You seem to be behaving like a particularly petulant child.

You bid and won an item that was marked “Collection Only”. The seller indicated to another that they *might* be prepared to post, and gave an indication of price, and to someone other than you. To my mind, nothing in that is binding – the binding side is in the listing terms, which is the Collection only. Now you come along playing silly buggers, demanding that this guy contact you, on your timeframe.

He’s probably sitting at home, (if he’s even read the email, I know sometimes it takes me a few days to read mine, yet alone reply) thinking “what the fuckety has this muppet bid on this for if he can’t collect?”. Now he’s thinking he’s got to go through the hassle of relisting etc just because you want to vary the terms of the auction.

IMO you should be collecting the amp, or at the very least offering the £20 postage cost, which would then be his discretion whether to accept. If it was me selling it, I’d happily tell you to piss off and suggest that you actually broke your side of the sale contract. I’d also be rightly pissed off if you then tried to neg me for it, and would throw that straight back through the ebay complaints system.

    MM, derrr!

mine was purely advice for making it sound the best on the day. If you want to lovey-it-up and just say “oooh darling you’re brilliant as you are”, fine, but even on poor recording equipment you can figure out which bits could be tonally enhanced through the amp set-up.

    pk-ripper
    Free Member

    sounds alright-ish.

Personally, i reckon on the day you need to add a bit of chorus and reverb to the vocals to give it more depth, and also to sing with a bit more power, as it could sound like James Blunt on temazepam otherwise. Also, if you can, drop the treble and add some more bass to the mic balance too.

still spending as usual. Just getting a bit more for my money, which means when interest rates rise again, I’ll not need to spend so can take advantage of the better savings rates.
