have sent them the pictures – I’m guessing they’re not awake yet though, given they’re in Georgia.

What about the people that are now trying to sell Shimano stuff including the current price rise!!
Someone tried to flog me a USED XT mech for nearly £20 yesterday! If it was used, certainly bought before the price hike!! TTP imo

I don’t think that’s unreasonable if it’s in good condition, given that the cheapest they were before the price rises was in the region of £30.

    Perhaps you’re just tight?

At least he actually bought them – the last 3 things I’ve “sold” on here have had all the chat, all the emails, and then contact has suddenly dried up, wasting my time. Oh, and other muppets offering pennies for something worth pounds.

I’m thinking ebay is the way to go now.

ah you see though hora, when you did that, the stem was still fine, which proves the top cap should give way first…

I have a pretty good idea what they charge to fix a puncture – it’s in the region of £12. And that will include the new tube they will install as well. I know this as I worked in a bike shop 10 years ago and we would charge £10 back then as it’s a job we didn’t really want, so that was factored into the price.

Again, you can do that much cheaper I’m sure, as could someone else. But that’s again your choice.

But, Evans have a successful business, and it’s clear they’re not missing your trade, and you so clearly state you want to see them go out of business – why is that? Because you don’t want to pay their prices? Because you don’t want to see them screwing the little guy? Are you consistent when extrapolating this concept to your other shopping?

    pk-ripper
    Free Member

no, we’re saying that the price quoted is what was quoted, and you had the choice not to take it and shop around for a price that you considered more in line with your expectations. A quoted price doesn’t have to be fair, but if the prices someone charges are higher than the market will bear, they will either adjust or go out of business. Evans clearly haven’t, so the market bears this price.

As epic so rightly says, it’s a rip-off if you have paid that unfairly or unreasonably, and therefore have been “ripped-off”. In this case, you did not get ripped-off.

Gary, nothing did that I know of, and given the sort of weight and associated forces that it could reasonably expect to see whilst riding, that would be one hell of a fertility mask I’d be owning. Sure, my little swimmers might be rubbish for all I know, but none of this dreamcatcher shite in my flat.

what do you reckon to ti? my feel is that carbon is being built into stiff hardtails (my 9.8 is), and my global ti is much more forgiving

    Bet they’ll claim “over tightening.

Are they the stock bolts in there, out of interest

Brant, yup, standard bolts in there. I’ll dispute the overtightening if they bring that to bear, purely as it’s a carbon steerer on some SID WC’s in there, which would be totally f’cked otherwise.

Bizarrely, it wasn’t like that when I last looked about 3 months ago, and the bike’s not been ridden for well over a year – I’m thinking it’s something to do with temperature and differential expansion of the materials.

shouldn’t this be on an ebay forum? You’d get a better answer there.

Better that, that some people actually care about keeping the forum within the bounds of respect and decency. If those who think it acceptable to make offensive comments know they will be challenged, then maybe they’ll think twice, before posting.

I find that incredibly rich given the situation of former alteregos Fred.

what’s the difference between listening to U2 and having a bucket of diarrhea thrown over you?

If you’re covered in diarrhea you’ll smell, but you can deal with the self-loathing.

£20 to bleed a brake is the going rate. Don’t see what the problem is.

Going to take at least 30 minutes or more to bleed an XTR unit.

Ziggy to the best of my knowledge at least works in a bike shop, if not owns it. He says it’s the going rate. Therefore I think you probably got lucky with your deal.

    Oh, and it’s “busy”.

    pk-ripper

they quote you a price, your choice whether to pay it or not. You openly say that you’re not good at bleeding brakes, so that’s their price.

Good service from the other place, but if it was any other shop that the big name “evans” would you have bothered with this?

Stuff like ‘go out for a bike ride’ is way ott.

Though is part and parcel of the furniture of the forum now, along with “pwn him with bombers” and “piss in his shoes”, “what tyres for”, “ur bik is Saracin” and “Inbred”

Doesn’t mean it can’t be moderated though. Every day’s a new day.

Agreed with Brant. Things evolve, but tighter moderation isn’t the way in my opinion. If I’m honest, reading this thread has highlighted the usual self-appointed moderators, the people that always want to say the right thing and suck up to the owners, and those that sing to the tune de jour.

In some ways the new forum appears to have broken up some of the cliques that were pretty evident, but overall, if you want to put the monster back in the cage, it’s probably too late.

crap idea, and solving a problem that you “think” exists, but I don’t think does.

Someone hit the nail on the head earlier, it’s the nerdiness that’s off-putting, it’s the “show me girls on bikes cos I’m in love with them” etc type that suggests people have nothing in their life other than bikes and riding, and can’t understand why others don’t regard bikes as the be all and end all.

There’s some sharp people on here, some with great humour, some with humour bypasses, and there’s without doubt some utter ****ts – it’s them you need to deal with to make this place more open to everyone.

    Hora – I thought PK had the S40 2.4?

Nope, I’ve got the s40 T5 – it’s the same engine, it’s rapid but the traction control is a bit agricultural, and the ST suspension is slightly stiffer.

It’s just a car though. Gets me around, with fuel economy around the 25/26 I reckon.

I feel that the dog is actually the shop owner and therefore hanging his head in a mixture of shame and disgust that there’s an on-one leaning against his store. He’s actually headed home to cry into his doggy bowl before curling up and licking his own hairy balls.

    You did that to him.

I’ve bought from them via Ebay, first 5 times – fast delivery no problem, but 6th time it took them 3 weeks to deliver a headset that they twice told me had been sent.

Did you ask about it on a delivery forum?
