re: signage, I think they get it right. it’s a reliability trial, part of that is being able to follow a route. you get given a 1:50k map at the start so I think you should expect to look at it once or twice. I know I did.

re: attitude, I agree – didn’t seem as friendly as previously. There was one checkpoint with only one marshal and some guy in a Kingston Wheelers jersey thought it was appropriate to ride round the queue and jump straight in at the front.

Seriously though, if I had to get to Swindon on a regular basis, I would NOT live in the city centre. Traffic is genuinely awful and First will arse rape you over rail fares.

Train fare to swindon isn’t that bad, and it’s vastly prefferable to driving imo…

How about Airpoint in Bedminster for high(ish) rise living in a very modern newbuild development. I’ve heard good things about it.

Tip: Don’t fall off at speed, that all weather surface is worse than tarmac for skin damage, it’s taken 5 weeks for my elbow to be scab free and I’m left with a little hole.

Valves not aligned properly. Maxxis is 6 letters so to be centred valve should be between the x’s. *tsk*

If you’re being picky the valves shouldn’t be aligned with Maxxis at all, they should be aligned with the tyre lable (on the other side of this tyre) which is 180 degrees from where it says maxxis…

@tj – i’ve got a big bit of road rash at the minute (wore through my winter tights at about 25mph) that was oozing too much for granuflex, the thing would fill up in about 6hrs and then ooze goo from all edges and then fall off. have been given a silicone gauze and some foam dressings that seem to be coping with the amount of stuff well now. the nurse i saw said it was akin to a 2nd degree burn.

can you hear that wriggling sound? I think someone’s just opened a can of worms.

just as an update, I emailed endura (who made my tights) and they’re going to fix them for me for £16ish if i send them to them. might be worth getting in touch with who ever distributes giordana.

I am also interested in this, as i shredded the thigh of my tights on saturday in a 25mph road crash (also shredded my thigh pretty well)

Surely Ken is offering his “appearance services” to various parties so is totally legitimate in setting up a company to do this – what stinks is the likes of various highly paid employees who have one sole employer (& should by rights be on PAYE) being paid through a company to reduce their tax & NI costs. They’ve clamped down on the bottom rung of people claiming to be self employed now just clamping down on the upper rung, seems fair to me.

That’s exactly it (imo) and what Ken has been criticising. Andrew Gilligan has picked up on this and looked into Livingstone’s tax status and decided that Ken has been doing the same (which imo he hasn’t) and then tried to sling mud at him.
