it’ll be your stem slipping. has it got a carbon steerer tube? if so i’d stick some carbon assembly paste on it before doing the stem up.

    c_klein87 – Member
    no you can’t

check the carbon plug isn’t pulling out of the fork steerer, happened on my team alu which made the headset loose, the planet x fork bungs are fairly sh#te

if your fork bung is holding your stem on you’re doing it wrong. again, it’s probably slipping because the stem is slipping on the steerer which will then rely on the bung to hold it all together which will definitely slip as it’s only meant for preloading the bearings not holding everything together.

Any idea how long CRC have taken to deliver these? I ordered on Thursday and still processing. Also which courier do they use?

Same thing happens with the new front of the Colston Hall in Bristol to a lesser extent. First thing in the morning there’s a spot on the pavement out front which is incredibly hot to walk past/through. The metal has started to weather now though so not so bad.

DMRB is indeed a design manual and must be used in conjunction with a designers obligations under CDM – Bit like the Building Regulations

I don’t agree with this at all. DMRB is a design manual owned by the Highways Agency for use in the design of motorways and trunk roads. Far too many local authority highways departments use it as a bible in street design which is something it has never been intended to be used for and results in massively overdesigned streets and roads. Manual for Streets 2 is a much better tool for the job. There is nothing stating DMRB must be used for anything. Hell, there’s no obligation to follow British Standards but you’d need to have done a lot of leg work to justify not using them if something goes wrong.

Oh, and yes NMUs should definitely be considered in design phase and as such CDM regs definitely apply.

Did they do anything nice on their day off? Took in a museum or a chateux with nice formal gardens, game of boules?

    Garmin went skydiving 😉

Noa in Clifton is also good. there’s not a whole heap of choice though!

The longer route fallows the fall line of the valley, swoops side to side across the bottom of it, then has some ridiculous jumps, that are noteable for their size and absence of any real landing. Certianly not for me.

That’s not new, it’s been there for years in some form or another. Doesn’t really get ridden much because it’s a dead end (unless you climb over the railway line…)

Race report from wednesday (not from me)

    http://velorunner.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/western-summer-cx-league-round-4-race.html?spref=tw

Ah, I was the LVIS rider who beat that guy! I knew he’d have me on the uphill drag to the finish line so just went all out all the way from the bottom. nearly vommed over my handlebars at the finish!

never had a problem with overtaking at bikefest. Agree there is less opportunity to pass on the new trails. Did spot one joker on a cross bike which would’ve been easy to overtake given his narrow bars 😉

got to say these type are the best http://www.arco.co.uk/products/1235300/299119/Arco+Gripz+Lycra%26reg%3B+Black+Glove

they come in different thicknesses – the thinest ones are good for mechanicing. find a friend who works on site and they will have loads of pairs.

Counter sue for damage to the car caused by the police pursuing?
    SPOT! F*! ON!

edit: Occupational hazard surely? Its a bit like a soldier suing the army for being shot by the enemy…

Isn’t it more like a soldier suing the entire public for being shot by the enemy, after all they’re defending all our freedom.

would be interesting to know, given that PSNI don’t seem to know/care about all this, whether said officers have been working after sustaining their injuries?

Ok, maybe fluke isn’t the right word but he’s got no chance of doing it again. yes, the sprint was brilliantly judged – but he was in a very big bunch at the end who were charging down on haussler. There’s no way given his palmares since that race that any of the key favourites won’t try and force a selection to happen which he won’t be able to keep up with.

If it’s a bunch finish, yes he probably can win but there’s not many times that has happened in the history of msr.

Cavs disinterest is more about the team riding for Boonen and not him though I suspect .

Cav’s disinterest is because of the realisation that he has no chance of winning this race again and that the last time was a fluke…

The way he was mercilessly dropped on the la manie climb (i’ve done it the other way round on an ss mtb with a tent and a weeks worth of kit on my back and it’s not a lot of fun) last year makes me think he has no chance. He’s just not a classics rider. He might grow into the role later in his career though.

with ashton court it’s mainly because that’s where the informal trails were before they ‘built’ them.

Not so much fun just riding round the edge of the field there if there’s nothing ‘built’.

Also, the new linking bit they built at the edge of a field (which isn’t on the bikefest course) has shown that if there aren’t trees in the way a lot of people will just try to straight line everything…

edit: clubber beat me to it.

    Get some shimano a520s

Big platform to support spd shoes, but no need to get new shoes. Also look ok(ish) on a road bike.

or the a600 for a more bling version.

Clubber – If we’ve got a load of them why do Nouveau and Leon always insist on riding the same one? Got any links to other routes?

We’ve had a request to close this thread as it’s ‘getting out of hand’.

    We said categorically, no.

Out of interest which side of the argument asked for the thread to be closed?

I know a few people who aren’t happy about what Charlie is doing. Thing it, if it’s anything like previous SSUKs it’ll be the least competitive “race” ever run

I dunno, there are at least normally 3 or 4 people who are actually going for it. Even saw the eventual winner* ride through the beer stop without stopping for a hop based beverage once.

*in my eyes this should’ve been a straight dq. Much like the american chap who refused his tattoo after winning the sscxwc**

**they call it a world championship but it’s only ever been held in the US. a bit like the world series in that respect i suppose.

Based on rides I’ve done with a power meter i reckon my output would be more in line with the strava figure. I reckon the garmin is quite high. Though depends on loads of stuff that unless you have a power meter you can’t capture. Could have been 3 hours through hub deep mud with a massive pack on your back for example, in which case Garmin might be more accurate

Yeah, I always chuckle after a 1 hr cross race at an average speed of about 8mph when it says i’ve used 150 calories. It obviously knows nothing about the conditions your riding in (or even the type of bike you’re riding – reckon I use more energy on an ss over a geared bike)

Legally, the new employer can’t say anything negative about you – for referrals. “He turned up on time and was helpful towards other staff”

I’m never sure where this came from as there are no laws specifically saying this, the only thing that does count is libel. If you commit gross misconduct, and have evidence for it which they may or may not have used at a disciplinary, they are more than ok to say that in a reference.

just to throw some more anecdotal evidence into the mix, a mate of mine bought a new £3k bike from a large online mail order company, took it out of the box, assembled it and left it in his dining room from where it was stolen 4 days after delivery having never left the house. Thieves went straight in, took the bike and left the new 40″ telly in the lounge etc untouched. Might have been a coincidence but then again might not have.

However, the practical effect of this was to force drivers travelling in the same direction as him to drive around his parked vehicle, thus crossing the double white lines.

I disagree with the wording on the article. The drivers weren’t forced to cross the white lines, they were forced to stop as they could not proceed without crossing the white lines which is prohibited. If they crossed the white lines they are also committing an offence.

Not defending the bloke who parked, who sounds like a bit of an idiot too.

edit: Oh and if the van driver was doing 50-60mph when he hit the lorry he was almost certainly exceeding the speed limit previous to this as I can’t believe he didn’t brake at all.

Had a car following me down the A1 yesterday. Traffic came to a halt as it does now and then on a busy road. So I stopped. And so did he.

Full roof of snow then proceeded to slip off his roof all over the windscreen. The nugget then had to get out of his car on the motorway to clean it off. Sigh.

then some nugget on an internet forum called an A road a motorway 😉
