my mum had a similar issue. she was working as a supply teacher through an agency and then took a part time job at a school she supplied at (which she also used to work full time for about 10 years ago). agency went mad and demanded money from the school. the school turned around and said they wouldn’t pay and would look to use other agencies to supply cover staff in the future at which point my mum’s agency got very, very apologetic.

just hire the person and tell the agency it’s up to them if they want to do business with you any more. you’re in the driving seat, there are other agencies, but i bet that agency relies more on you than you do on them.

I think there was a mag that reviewed a few 69ers, can’t remember the name though.

thanks for that. have read the magazine, hence my interest. just wondering if anyone else had any views…

there’s a lot less play in bb threads than other threads. also there’s still the plastic spacer issue. those spacers can’t be made to that high tolerances and they do deform under pressure.

anthony – can you provide a bit more explanation please? the threads are all that contacts the metal parts of a ht2 bb, as the face of bb only meets the bb shell with a plastic washer in between. i really don’t understand all this bb facing nonsense that’s going round at the moment.

In England it’s legally 24hrs. Even if they put 2hrs in your tenancy agreement it would mean nothing.

And consider plasma over LCD. LCD upscaling of SD content is rubbish.

not sure about that. depends on the processor doing the upscaling rather than the screen technology really. and you’ll be hard pushed to get a plasma smaller than 40″ anyway!

fatmutha – totally agree. I’ve never got this argument that people with external BBs have to have their BB shell faced as it will make no difference. As long as the threads are parallel then it’ll all be ok.

if you were riding like lance you’d definitely get more than wet feet from the front wheel. spray on my bike reguarly comes up to eye height and above, but it’s mainly the front of my legs that takes the brunt of it. i suppose i don;t ever ride without a peak so i don’t really know what difference it makes…

he said something on twitter how when it rains he likes to wear a peak to keep the water out of his eyes. i don’t quite see how that helps though. he also had a picture of him in training on a bike with sks raceguards on (or whatever the clip on ones are called), seemed to only be using the rear one which didn’t make much sense either. so all in all i don’t think lance makes sense.

Peterpoddy, why would it matter whether the two edges of the bb are square. surely it’s the threads in the bb that ensure that the cups are in line? with the plastic spacers on shimano systems will take out any imperfections in the bb face anyway.

did people ever used to face bbs? as surely the lockrings on square taper systems still sit up against the bb face (otherwise you could just thread them all the way in…)

they’re avid juicy’s so it could be the rotor shape i suppose. sadly front is 185 and rear is 160 so can’t do an easy swap. it’s really starting to irritate me now though. think i’ll spend most of saturday trying to work out what’s going on.

if you thought i was helpful before:
first result for renault wiper not parked on google!

Nice one Del! I’ve been googling all day and not found that, must have put in the wrong thing. Will check all the fuses when I get home – could only find one last night but sure there must be others as the rear wiper wasn’t on the same fuse as the front.

More helpful than the above one! Yeah, i think it’s probably a switch inside the wiper workings now. Will take it apart and have a look on the weekend and see if it’s an obvious fault and if not track down a cheap replacement on ebay i think.

yeah, 2 speed flat bar was what i was thinking. definitely more as a tool to get from a to b than a bike to go out specifically on a ride on too.

i had quite a lot (not sure how many cans) of redbull at a mates stag do a while back – seemed vodka and red bull was all people were drinking – and felt like i was going to have a heart attack! don’t drink caffinated things normally and even a can of red bull gives me a noticible increase in heart rate.

i get this too. headset dismanteled at the weekend, nothing wrong with that, no play in forks, wheels, rotors or calipers. can’t for the life of me work it out. must be something to do with pads or rotors.

…waht i always do is order both sizes so you can try them on in the comfort of your own home, then just send back the pair that don’t fit for a couple of quid.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Can’t work it out though, the endura site says Medium 32″-34″ and CRC and Wiggle say Large 32″-34″!
