yeah, there's a couple of lights in bus lanes that are the only red's i'll ever jump as they're demand driven by loop detectors and my bike doesn't set them off.

I can't actually remember the last time I saw a cyclist RLJ on my commute if I'm honest… (Bristol)

I'm assuming your commute doesn't go through any traffic lights then!?! I can recall about 6 red light jumpers on my way into work this morning. There was even a car that jumped the light on my way home (turning right up zetland road at the gloucester road lights outside maplin)

I wouldn't be surprised if your prophet already has a layback seatpost. Those thomson posts on give 20mm layback which is normally achieved at the clamp rather than with a bent seatpost, would be worth checking before shelling out the cash.

yeah, i was aware of the running nature of the trail, and don't normally have a problem, however if i wanted to go for a run on the weekend of the bikefest i'd probably go somewhere else…

@mr agreeable – i came across someone jogging round the timberland trail during the bikefest this year, i had to carry on behind him for about 20m before he let me pass. i pointed out that there would be a lot more mtber's passing than normal (very politely) and he just told me to p*ss off.

zone – sounds complicated, think i'll have it in the lbs by then!

bob – due to the size of the bb tool i need a massive adjustable spanner to grip it and the handle for the spanner is too large to fit in a seat post. i've used this trick in the past for ht2 bbs though. I'm going to go in search of a bit of scaffold pole next i think.

Go for a ceramic bladed cordless.

Cordless clippers are generally rubbish. Not enough power not to snag on my thick locks. I'd go for something professional, from a hairdressers supplies place as above. Might cost you more like £50 but are bombproof.

I'm going to ingore the blatant, and unnecessary, racism.

The service they provide when it's been installed is brilliant, however getting it installed (for me at least) has been a nightmare. I took the morning off work last thursday for them to come between 8-1, when they hadn't turned up by 1 i rang them and got a foreign call centre who assured me they would be there in 3 hours and that "i wouldn't have to wait" to which i pointed out 3 hours is waiting!

They didn't turn up by 2:30 so i rang and got through to the UK who basically admitted that they give out more installation slots than they can manage to do in a day on the chance that some take less time than normal so they can fit another few in. I got told that someone from the installation team would call me in 5 mins. They didn't so i called back. This was then repeated 4 times until at 6pm i was told that they had all gone home and i'd wasted a whole day off waiting for them to come. not happy. So now having to wait for another installation slot. They also told me that they wouldn't have been able to install the phone anyway as there aren't enough free slots at the local exchange, this is despite me already having a number with them as i've used them at my past address for 2 years! Have written them a letter stating that i expect a days wage to make up for my leave i had to take or they can shove it. At the time they offered me 1 months free subscription and free anytime calls for a year (which they had already offered me as they'd upgraded my broadband some time ago without telling me, yet charging mt £2 a month more…)

    this is in bristol btw.

yeah, should have indeed. Bloke in the shop phoned cannondale at the time and said they've got plenty in stock and they expected to for the next month…

the bearings inside are tiny, in a retainer race as well so there isn't actually that many bearings…

I thought the point of bb30/90/whatever is that the bearings are bigger?!?

the pack of 3 at full rrp is no saving on the 1 pack at full rrp anyway – it's just 3 times as much…

when you're there I highly recommend going to the MACBA:

I stayed in el Ravel when I went. Hired an apartment for a long weekend – was much better value than a hotel imo.

worse i'd say. I want to go, but when i walk past it at 8:30am in the morning and there are already about 30-40 people queuing when it doesn't open until 10am i'm slightly put off.

No chance! depending on where you're coming from you might get a space at Cabot Circus or it's probably easier to use on the park and ride or get a train in.

i'd go for the slx if you can stretch that far.

Up walking at Leith Hill a while back and some guy had a fairly new bling Stumpjumper FSR with a Thomson layback but the wrong way around.
iirc thomson recommend you mount them backwards in certain situations (well, only one – turning a regular road bike into a tt/tri bike)

erm, isn't it the harbour festival that weekend and in the past they've set up a massive fair in that car park, not sure how much room there'll be for the bike jumble?

The things I've always particularly admired about Cavendish are his dignity, maturity and grace.
True, he can be a right cock sometimes and this is clearly a toys->pram comment, but i think he's got a point on this one.

i'd not bother with global personally, they're a pita to keep sharp due to the curved edge. I would save some money and get some of these victorinox knives:

    victorinox

go down to your local butchers and these are what they'll use. Nice handles, nicely weighted and very easy to keep sharp – and a hell of a lot cheaper than global.

    It's not a fine, it's an invoice

Correct. Find out what it costs to park at the local council run car park and send them that amount of money for the time you parked there (should be about a fiver), stating that this is fair payment for you parking on their land.

not sure of most attractive, they're all a bit logo'd up and garish for my tastes.

I can't imigine Armstrong taking team orders to be honest.

no, but i think he's trying to prove that he's not a self centred arrogant b*stard. if Contador blows up don't expect Lance to hang back though.

he'd climb better if he grew the weller hair back

ha ha, i was thinking the exact opposite during his interview.

I think Armstrong was told not to/decided not to chase him down – he didn't look like he was at his limit when Contador made the break. I think he was there to cover Evans (and Brad!), either through his choice (as in he was prob kicking himself that he didn't go instead of Contador, as I think if it was the other way round Contador would have been expected to do the same) or because Bruneel told him to.

the first one doesn’t work at all, mainly because you’ve added blur on all sides of the subject, whereas the areas of the photo that are the same distance from the camera as the subject should be in focus. the second one works better.

it’s nothing more than a gimmick imho. tilt shift lenses are primarily intended for architectural shots so that straight lines on buildings etc remain parallel.
