I was chatting to a sky soigneur at the Vuelta who didn’t seem to honestly have a clue what was going on. I’m with 100mphplus – the smart thing to do is to wait until after the world champs when he may (or may not) be able to command a higher fee.

Oh and Brad is clearly talking about British Cycling plans and not Team Sky plans (although where the line is with that I don’t know – was thinking do team sky try and knacker foreign riders in the team with the intention of reducing their olympic chances?)

I did that once, rebuilt the wheel though but only as it offended my sensibilities rather than worrying about how strong it is.

I’m more concerned about my rear wheel which is about 10mm out of dish at the moment though. doesn’t foul the frame so haven’t done anything yet…

I was tripping on phenylephrine but still managed to get the logo lined up with the valve hole. *blows smoke from finger gun*

Really? I would have assumed that the valve hole is opposite the rim sticker, in which case it doesn’t look that lined up to me.

i’d just like to point out that i hadn’t read this thread before i ordered…

oh and i hope everyone who took advantage of the oakley “deal” after reading the thread on here sent them back. no, thought not (i’m aware they completed the orders as a good will gesture, however it would have been better goodwill to tell them not to give their product to you for free)

there’s definitely something weird going on with their website – just ordered £120 worth of stuff (inc postage) and paid €101 for it via paypal… checked the euro prices on their website and it would have added up to about €143s worth. odd. will see what happens.

Are you sure? Magistrates have the power to impose sentences of up to six months is my understanding

They can impose them, but they do not decide on them, they will have been advised by the probationary service.

if there’s a no face mask law are they going to make sure the police don’t cover theirs too?

I know they’ve been more strict at ensuring shoulder numbers are displayed, but i think it would go a long way if riot police stopped covering their faces.

Mind you that doesn’t stop Liggit and Sherwin going on about it all the time which is probably where the misconception originates – lazy commentary IMO which is odd as most of the rest of it is pretty good

Hmm, not sure i’ve ever thought ligget and sherwin’s commentary is that good 😉 you can tell they’re paid by the americans.

not that eurosport is any better.

I do remember seeing Robbie McEwen wheelie across the line winning crit in central london in about 1998 though. Those BMX skills were finally coming good.

It will be reduced on appeal – its a magistrate wanting to make headlines.

But magistrates don’t sentence (they don’t have the powers, they pass judgement but look to others to sentence) – the district judge has in this case, and that sentence will be on the advice of the probation service in their pre-sentence report.

Who needs to spend £50 when you can get one of these. The mill is a the top so doesn’t leave anything anywhere. Ceramic grinding bits and fully adjustable.

@bikebouy – exactly what i was thinking. probably not helped by the fact cav is after a 100% pay rise at the same time, and the sponsors probably don’t want to pay that. Wouldn’t want to have been in soapy bob’s position.

You have to question their auditing practices – how was he getting the stuff out for a start ?? And not noticing for so long ??

Especially given that the average product price at rrp was about £650 so they can’t have been small things he was nicking (unless it was all Di2 kit).

it all goes down to what you can afford to pay now. No point in crystal ball gazing – a mortgage isn’t really the place to speculate, too many risks.

If you can afford the rate now comfortably then go with the tracker. if you are overextending yourself financially go for the fixed.

And always remember the decision you make now is the right decision at that time, don’t look back in two years and say you should have done the other as you don’t know now what you will know then.

I’d do something like the above link. create a new layer adjust it until the bike is as you want and then using an airbrush erase the top bit of that layer.

I’d also stay in bed longer so there was proper light 😉

220 lumens its not equivalent to 45w!

Depends how you measure it… Went to a syposium on street lighting the other day where a research team is trying to develop a scientific way of measuring the effectiveness of light at different chromaticities… it’s well proven that light with lower colour temperature appears to be brigher than light of a higher colour temp with the same output. LEDs generally have a lower colour temp so appear brighter while current measuring (and rating) techniques don’t allow for this.

I dunno why people quote how many miles you get from a tank. It’s not like all tanks are the same size, is it?!

Exactly – there are a number of adverts about quoting how many miles a car will do from a tank and it’s all rubbish! My audi a2 will do 400 miles from it’s 34l tank easily and i’ve never put more than £35 of fuel in it. brilliant that a massive merc will do 800miles, but they don’t tell you in the ad that it’s got a 120l fuel tank…

no chance of it coming to the line in paris – they’d never keep up with the sprinters to stay away and will be too marked to make a long break.

order of start for tt is reverse GC so A Schleck last, evans will start 2 mins before him.

Interesting stat on Twitter on the time it has taken people to get up Alpe D’Huez in recent years:

    Rolland needs 41:52 – 2011, F. Schleck 40:46 – 2006, Landis 38:34 – 2006, Armstrong 37:36 – 2004, Ullrich 38:37 – 2004 #TdF

57 seconds sounds like a lot to make up

I’m not sure – top 10 on the TT at the dolphiny (this will make sense if you listen to the real peloton podcast) was:

    1 MARTIN, Tony (HTC-HIGHROAD) 55′ 27″
    2 WIGGINS, Bradley (SKY) + 00′ 11″
    3 BOASSON HAGEN, Edvald (SKY) + 00′ 43″
    4 ZABRISKIE, David (GARMIN-CERVELO) + 00′ 58″
    5 BRAJKOVIC, Janez (RADIOSHACK) + 01′ 17″
    6 EVANS, Cadel (BMC RACING) + 01′ 20″
    7 THOMAS, Geraint (SKY) + 01′ 36″
    8 RIBLON, Christophe (AG2R LA MONDIALE) + 01′ 37″
9 TAARAMAE, Rein (COFIDIS, LE CREDIT EN LIGNE) + 01′ 56″
10 FARIA DA COSTA, Rui Alberto (MOVISTAR) + 02′ 00″

Big range of times there – i think it could be another 1989 finish!

This Old House was the love child of The New Yankee Workshop and Grand Designs.

This Old House can’t be a child of Grand Designs, it’s been around for much longer! It’s not so good Steve isn’t on it anymore though, Norm is still there.

Oh what i’d give for a workshop like Norm’s. First thing I would have bought with my Euromillions win…

i’ve got a 1.4 A2 tdi, which normally gets 65mpg on combined or 55mpg urban. it’s an older 75bhp version, which seem to be more reliable as no dmf or vvt. It is a very light car though, so ymmv on other models with the same engine.

Well noting Akeiny has one post (that one)and registered today I’m guessing he is the admanager marketing man/sock puppet

Yup, he even went so far as emailing me this afternoon to ask me to delete my post as it’s the top result on google for their site… I haven’t yet replied to say there’s no delete function and he’s just made the problem worse.

i did my open water in Ko Tao about 7 years ago at Big Blue, no idea if it’s still there but seemed ok to me. My sister had done her dive masters there a couple of years before i think. They didn’t have a pool, but it meant you did the pool stuff at a shallow beach which was prob more fun. If you time your trip to ko tao to coincide with a full moon party on ko phangan then you’ll find that clears out most of the backpackers…

Having dived other places since, i’d say i probably wouldn’t go back there again for diving, but it’s a good (cheap) place to learn. Now, if you want fantastic diving nearish to there head to sipidan!

    Zero degrees is shit IMO

+2 – the food there went down hill a couple of years ago (i don’t know how since they only really make pizzas) and the service is terrible. quite like the beer though.
