also, pay the extra for the doser, I didn’t but wish I did. It chucks out 7 grams at a time.

i’ve got one of these. Not bad, I think the burr grinders themselves are good – the adjustment for grind time looks like you’re unscrewing a fuse or something. The grind adjust has a knob that requires a lot of turning for a slight change in grain size – good I guess, but causes issues if you swap between beans a lot! Good value I think.

As I understand it, Specialized don’t need to sue, they just need to engage with café Roubaix. So the aggression isn’t needed to protect their TM.

i’d avoid the latest LED edge lit (very thin) tvs – unless you’re spending shedloads.
If you like dark movies (alien), they’re really bad – you can see grey patches all the way around the edge.
Except when the led’s turn off to try and stop you noticing the patches! – in-between scenes etc.

We went for a sony, older tech (regular lcd, about 100mm thick) – nowhere near as flashy in the shop as the LED ones but really enjoyable watching films at home. A bit like how these OLED smartphones look great for 5 mins, then you realise they’re a bit garish.

Also, the high htz / motion flow stuff is shocking – google soap opera effect!

Molgrips. Not seeing the rs8 comparison. Mines all slicey and straight lines. Audi have their whole Bauhaus and engineered radiuses language going on. I’m sure it looks like something else more!

Yes! But the mito and guilittabravo… I want to like them…. Nope, can’t do it. Get good reviews though

Cheers Bigbloke. I’m a big Alfa fan, I sometimes doodle a Alfa grille by default – although I think they dropped a bollock by trying to make all the cars look like the 8c competitioniellabizzapizzamamamia. That car looked great in a classic sports car kinda way but I preferred the previous, angry eyebrows look!

Nomokaman, where did you get your degree? Interesting tip on wheel angles – ill keep an eye out for that

Thanks for the constructive remarks. Re them looking like exsisting cars, dunno… I’m not looking at car mags or anything!

As for homers car… Thanks a bunch!

All fair comments, I have plenty of days to move into other areas though!
But yeah, sporty numbers are easier – funky hatchbacks are ok too.

    thanks for your thoughts

My house is painted in Farrow and Ball, Estate finish paints. That is style.
My neighbours house is painted in B&Q cheap slop

oh dear, colour is the design decision not the paint brand! stick with dulux and choose the colour you want not what a fancy pants brand tells you is ‘in’.

obviously this is a comedy / troll thread but… Ikea do quite a range of qualities – from cheap and flimsy to their ‘habitat end’ decent stuff – we’ve just bought sliding wardrobes – about a £1000 all in, there were MUCH cheaper options.

We moved to the high peak about a year ago. We ‘count our lucky stars’ daily! literally! rain or sun, never a day goes past without appreciating having some landmass to look UP at and go ‘wow’

i’d love to visit NZ though! 😉

But andyl, the seat post would make contact in various places transferring energy.

If you end the post at the top tube, all the torsional forces are working on that little triangle (made by the brace).

Bringing it lower introduces more of the whole frame into the equation – big difference i reckon

too short for def but they should maybe print a mark / warning on the frame – save any issues

common sense says the post is too short.

you can kinda forget the top brace (belt and braces) – if you don’t, you’re relying entirely on the top brace as you create a rearward force rotating around the real toptube/seatpost interface.

loads of tension through that brace – good welding so it failed just below.

put a longer post in and all the forces are evenly distributed

I think im more in the ally 2 price area… You’re not near the peaks are you? 😉

thanks for all the replies – i’ve noticed it’s ‘cool’ to hate leftys like it’s ‘cool’ to hate iPhones… interesting.
I have a rush with a lefty and I love it.

this German site seams to have knocked £200 off!

Google, make practically no money out of hardware (bar the old Nexus S which was a Samsung anyhow :P) as they are paid by phone manufacturers to use their software

Surely android is free for the oem’s to use. That’s why so many Android handsets are cheap / low budget affairs. And yes, the legacy support for Android phones is worse than apple (who aren’t perfect either – iPhone4 not getting siri for instance)

No. (get real, no-one else can get final salery pensions / we’re all in this crap etc… * )

    * bankers are obviously outside that sphere of reality

Copy/paste or drag and drop always works. Just select ALL the tracks of the album first paste into the artwork panel bottom left. If you have unusual music that iTunes doesn’t sell, you’ll have to do this fairly laborious meathod.

You can use the info panel (apple I on a mac) but it does it track at a time

Also the folder organizing stuff is too rigid for me.

why would you want to do it differently?… It’s not a place you need to go to surely?

What, like iTunes? I’d quite like an iPhone, but having to use that steaming pile of poo is the main reason I haven’t got one right now.

never found anyone who can tell me why or what’s better. maybe you’re using it wrong!
seriously though, smart playlists are amazing and without them, I couldn’t use an alternative.

    be prepared for a 4S (iPhone 4 look-a-likey) 🙁

many flash sites are designed for ‘mouseovers’ and the like – just can’t work with touchscreens. flash is dying fast anyway. The only thing you miss is video clips on BBC news and the like – daft way do deliver video anyway.

I’m leaning towards nanolight – then save up for better wheels some time later.

and placid_casual, it really does look nice doesn’t it!
