Handy little tip which has got me and a few friends out of this situation, if you have a multi tool with a chain tool on it, I have found that you can use the removable part to tighten valve cores.

Works with a Specialized and Crank Bros multi tool anyway.

Sounds great to me! I think something like this has been a long time coming.

As you havent answered the question of what hub you have, I would suggest going to a local bike shop :-)

6 years+ according to the Conti rubber queen on the front of my bike.

Rear tyres tend to get ripped/torn before wearing out :(

Been using the A530 for a few years on my tourer/commuter/do everything bike.

Easy to clip in (they hang vertical as said, with the spd side facing back) and adequate for popping to the shops in my normal shoes. Not quite the same level of grip as proper flats ;) but not designed for the same type of riding either.

I would love a larger platform on the flat side though.

    Go on then. Enlighten us

By driving a car everywhere like a normal person instead of riding a bike like a penniless fool.

I got Haribo in my last Wiggle order.

The only reason you wouldn’t get some is if you’ve been a naughty boy/girl.

    So serves you right.

I could easily, I’d not win because I’m not fit enough

But would you be faster than the professional racers down the descents? I guess we will never know.

Some of the ups looked a bit tricky too to be fair.

Very good coverage I think, looking forward to the mens!

I reckon that course gets significantly trickier when you’ve been racing for an hour or two.

    Its certainly no CX course.

If it happens to be the equivalent of a Singular Peregrine it could work…

I think Im just going to use a bar end shifter. Boring.

Wish you all the best Sharkattack, very easy to fall into a rut but you’ve already done the hardest bit.

Haha, not Eroica, just a bike :D

Thanks all, band on shifters are generally a smaller diameter clamp than what I require, sadly. Though I will keep an eye on eBay.

Have thought about having some bosses brazed on, and at 30 quid (by your good self Bencooper) its tempting. If only I were closer to you.

Used to be a foreman with a marquee firm and we would take anyone that would turn up for a second day.

I loved that job, we were putting up pretty big ones, i.e 25x100m, sometimes 2 stories)

Absolutely exhausting, especially in 38 degree heat, but I’ve never been stronger.

Maybe that’s my mistake. I should go to Oz or NZ.

Prior to Australia I spent a year in New Zealand working.

Honestly, if you suit the visa requirements and have nothing else holding you back. Save/sell stuff to fund the flights and go.

Having just spent 18 months doing this sort of work around Australia it is interesting how seemingly difficult it is to find it here at home, I managed a whole 2 days of unemploynent in Aus.

I did everything from fruit picking/pruning, general farm hand, labourer, event work, marquee erector (you heard), cleaner, waiter etc etc.

I tend not to drive if I’ve ingested too much caffeine.. I don’t feel safe

I once finished a cafetiere of strong coffee to myself at work, couldnt look at the screen or concentrate for about half an hour. Driving would have been…. interesting.

Good chance the stop was “intelligence based” then. Sounds like they were waiting for you.

You sound paranoid, smoking too much maybe…

Regardless of what you say about feeling fine, there must be an effect from long term regular pot smoking alcohol use.

    Both, of course.

Clips for XC and fast, rough, rocky style DH.

Flats for proper slippery, steep, rooty stuff.

Don’t listen to Chris Packham, he advocates eradicating domestic cats too. He’s inhuman.

Or maybe he is passionate about preserving native species and has performed a lot of research to find out that domestic cats are bloody good at killing them?

My sisters cats certainly seem very adept, oh but of course, thats just “nature”

Honestly they are too big now to have stuff like this happen, just keep pestering in a polite manner and I’m sure it’ll get resolved for you.

This may be a stupid question, but my Mum said theres no such thing as a stupid question so…

Is a LCHF diet compatible with a vegetarian/vegan(ish) diet? Is it possible?

I’ve pretty much cut out meat other than the occasional bit of fish, dont really go for eggs, dont drink milk.

I normally ride 200-250 miles a week, pretty comfortable riding 70 miles on the road fueled by 3-4 bananas and a peanut butter/jam sandwich.

Essentially Ive been doing the opposite with high carbs/low fat, and feeling good because of it. But always open to new ideas.

That’s migrants per year, compared to total population. So imagine that graph after twenty years of migration, you might not be quite so relaxed about it.

I can assure you I would be just as relaxed about it, thanks.

Why make 8.5% of your life more difficult than it needs be?

8.5% isnt actually that steep, if you really want a tough climb try 20%+.

Or you could just sit on the sofa and do nothing, would make your life easier.
