We’re doing a road loop, starting saturday morning at ffarmers, via p-r-y-g for lunch, up to mid-wales for an over night stop at the bunkhouse, and a bbq + beer festival at the inn. Back to ffarmers on the Sunday via newbridge-on-wye and esgair gelli.

Yep that sounds great! Im sure you’ll enjoy regardless of weather but it would be a struggle as it currently is.

I’m local, it will be open at the weekend.

They’re a good bunch in there, though phones are not top of their priorities :D

    What loop are you planning?

For those of you with good relationships with your fathers, cherish it.

    Good advice.

Mine died when I was 14. I often wonder what it would be like if he were still around.

How much money would be ‘properly funded’?

I would say, just about the amount needed to pay your employees enough to not require the use of community food-banks.

    That should do it.

I am 49 so quite worried I will become a selfish uncaring tory in the next 2 or 3 years. What can I do to stop it, ca I get prescribed empathy pills or something?

Dont worry, it doesnt happen to everyone, my old dear is 65 and voted Labour for the first time in her life (previously Lib dem)

I know people who have had good experiences… but, theres always a but :D I would stay away from the Vivaro/Trafic/Primastar.

Gearbox and clutch are weak points and cost a pretty penny when they do go wrong. On the plus side they dont rust.

Whenever I see one on the road it gives me flashbacks.

Got to wonder what your doing to need both on what is a fairly new crank, they haven’t been around that long.

2.5 years or so, thats easily over 20,000 miles for some people, seems a fair mileage to me.

Im going to pop into my local Three shop to have a look at a Lenovo P2 soon, on paper it looks very good indeed.

Have had a Wald basket mounted on a Surly Nice front rack for the last year.

I like it, dont normally carry enough to warrant a pannier and I also like to pretend I am out riding for a Radavist article.

Mines on a Singular Peregrine so may affect the handling differently, but basically it makes the steering a bit slower and floppy at low speed. Once you get going its stable enough to comfortably ride no handed though.

    Do it.

    Thread title could also be:

“Something happened to me today that was truly vile and deeply upsetting.”

Very easy, if I need to order stuff online I will always check Wiggle first for this exact reason.

Sucks they made a mistake, but it does happen with all online shops occasionally.

Pretty sure Sram and Shimano have the same pull ratio for front mechs (or used to)

I certainly used to use an X9 shifter with an XT mech.

Would jump at the chance to do it, lived in Dunsborough for a couple of years previously, paradise.

In West Wales now, the hills are bigger but its a bit colder

I am in the market for something like this.

The Ordos is mighty tempting but less than complimentary reviews and price is pushing me toward a Zephyros too.

Though the pack size isnt quite as impressive, poles would have to go somewhere outside the luggage.

Meeting some friends in Munich for Oktoberfest, first time on a multi-day tour for me :D

Going to do a few practice trips locally to iron out any kit issues.

Any advice for routes up and along the coast of France and into Belgium very welcome.

Just in case anyone was wondering, I think you will have to look very, very hard for a vegan that thinks palm oil is an acceptable substitute.

A few of my friends who scoffed at the outrage about tallow are now somewhat irritated by the possible use of palm oil.

    Lots of fog.
    A little terrifying.
    Freehub failed catastrophically.

something I do for the joy of it shouldn’t be diluted unless an external effect makes it necessary.

I agree, who needs gears anyway! dilutes the fun of it all.

I see cheaters with those little dangly things at the back and 13 sprockets on the hub everywhere now. Lazy Bastards.

If you want to pay me £80/hour I’ll happily apply my hard-won anatomical and physiological knowledge to some handwaving and manipulation to attempt to fix your holistic body problems.

If you fix my back its worth $80 an hour!

Never been to a good Chiropractor then? Or is my experience wrong?

If you are anywhere near Portsmouth/Southampton I can give you the details of a Chiropractor who defied all my expectations and made my life (and some other people I know) much more bearable.

Back pain is the most debilitating thing, you have my sympathy.

The exact opposite, as it happens

Except in some countries, where it is cash before card.

This caught three of us out in Bali in the space of a week, all walked away with cash in hand but card left in the machine. All handed back to us by friendly people.

Same as PeterPoddy here, just fitted a 14 quid one from ebay, not dropped a chain yet.

Longevity is still to be confirmed though.

Take it back to the shop to set it up properly if you’re not confident doing it yourself.

They should do it for free as it is a new bike.

Just called First Direct for a chat about a couple of things.

Call was picked up within 2 rings, so far so good.

Also directed me to Money supermarket where you can get an extra 25 quid on top of their $100 incentive. For anyone thinking of switching, valid til 27/2 :

Paselas or Challenge Strada Biancas would be my choice.

Compass are too spendy and come with too many stories of fragility for me.

Air quality definitely got worse when the temperature dropped.

Very noticeable in the bottom of valleys on still days.

I had enough to fork out already for the wedding without some overblown silly stag trip away.

Why would the stag have to pay anything for the stag do? Their costs are split between everyone else.

Spent a week in Verbier for a mates last year.

Hiking, climbing, Mountain biking and boozing with my best buds.

It was $$$. It was also bloody brilliant.

I agree though, looks perfect for its intended use.

Soma Wolverine – think Singular Peregrine without the toe overlap.

Ahhh this is my exact situation, my Peregrine is perfect apart from the toe overlap and the short chainstays which mean fitting a front mech is a pain with mudguards.

I think I will end up going for a disc trucker, but the Wolverine does look good.
