I used 140 vanillas with QR for two years, wouldnt say they were noticably flexy tbh. Im using Pikes now, Maxles are better but not worth paying a big premium for.

Theyre verging on uber fit tbh 😀 Give it a go by all means though 😛 I run 1×9 (have done for 2 years now) there was about 10,000 feet of climbing in last years one.

Two of my friends are doing it SS, Nutters. The Dyfi will kill you if you aint prepared 😉 It'll be about 40 miles.

I use the cheap cassettes on an alloy Pro 2, never had a problem. Im not the most powerful rider mind.

Im always surprised by how good everyone else is, I consider myself to be a pretty good/fast rider but the last two years student champs DH races Ive competed in Ive come around 200th! (on a hardtail 😉 not that Im making excuses) Dont underestimate the abilities of others, theres always someone who is better than you.

I have a facing tool, so all of my brake mounts are faced. with anodising it probably wont matter but thick powder coat can cause alignment problems.

a 27" fork would be larger than a 700c, but the 650 suggestion could be true, although a 650 wheel is significantly smaller than a 700.

Some track forks have very small clearances (which look great) but they limit your tyre choice to wee ones.

Thinking back those berms are quite mental 😀 when I was riding I didnt really take notice. Will have to go back now.

No easier technically than the black at Glentress I reckon, as far as XC trails go I'd say it deserves a black rating. Its not a DH course so it doesnt have DH course ratings.

I really enjoyed it though! But I tend to enjoy any time on my bike.
