Van Nicholas Yukon Rohloff, or if you don’t want drop bars, any of their Rohloff compatible frames have the split seat stay you need and ebb.

If you’re really keen to know it’s provenance, Retro Bike is your best bet. GT weren’t the only makers of frames eith the triple triangle design but anything else could be quite niche.

Has it got gear shifters on the downtube and brake cables that exit the levers at the top and arc over the bars? If it has and the frame is in decent condition with minimal rust, it could be a candidate for restoration to ride in Eroica events and therefore worth a lot of money.

My advice fwiw, is not to do what someone did to me a few years ago.
They came on here pleading poverty asking for a donation of a bike to get to work. I’d a road bike that I’d ridden the LEJOG on but had no intentions to use again as the road was not my cup of tea. I met up with him and gave him the bike. A few weeks later he came on here bragging that he’d stripped the bike and sold the Campag groupset on ebay. He got a bit of a flaming and it left a bad taste with me.
If it is a hidden gem, I’d be inclined to recompense the previous owner somehow.
Edit. Didnt see your pics until I’d written my post, doh.

I was in the post office the other day (in Cataluña) and noticed that they are advertising a bag transfer service for €4 a day. They also have a place in Santiago de Compostella to store bikes. I wasn’t sure from your post whether you are planning to walk or ride it, riding gives you more flexibility of where to stay and allows you to get ahead of the walkers each day. If you only have a week, I’d favour riding as you’ll see more.

13 out of 13 are ridable but the oldest, a 1st gen Giant XTC Team, has a slick tyre on the front for a reason I can’t quite remember. Seems a bit excessive as there’s only 2 of us

Be careful, I told my wife I was getting her a ring for Christmas, then bought a bell. We divorced shortly afterwards.

3 or 4 years ago when Movember was quite a thing, some of the ladies in our local pub were complaining that they were excluded (some could have embraced it but that’s another story) so I suggested Fanuary. Can’t really comment on it’s success

Mine have a handy F & R printed on the waistband so I know which way to put them on. Recently travelled to Germany and got Mrs PB some nice C&A ones.

A chap we know who works for the forestal turned up today with a tractor and trailer full of olive tree logs. We’d asked for about a tonne to start us off this winter until we start to prune our own trees. Seems something got lost in translation as he delivered 1800kg. Never mind we can keep it for next year. Our woodburner is our only heating but it never gets really cold here, it’s only fallen below freezing twice since we moved 2 years ago.

Probable useless info but olive wood can be burnt immediately, burns hot and lasts ages. It also helps if you live in a valley 20km x 8km which is 90% olive groves. We also only need the fire for 3 months of the year.

Worked as a pro mechanic for 3 years, servicing and building up to 6 bikes a day but by far the worst job was re-cabling a mate’s Cervelo S2 It was an early model with unguided internal routing. The upper cable stops were housed on a triangular plate which sat just behind the steerer tube where the cables entered the frame and were almost impossible to get at. Getting the cables under the bottom bracket without crossing and causing excessive drag was equally frustrating. The process took over 4 hours and put me off Cevellos for life.

My first job was selling BMW cars for a main dealer in Staffordshire. It had been a very snowy and icy winter and despite the roads having been clear for several days, the workshop carpark was still a cobbled icy skidpan. I’d been to put petrol in one of the demonstrators and came sailing into the carpark way too fast, skittling my way down a line of customers’ cars, coming to rest embedded in the boss’s 6 series. Not my finest moment.

I’m going to the local village to eat chesnuts, sweet potato and pine nut cakes. Talk will be of Catalan Independance but mercifully no trick or treating.

Are you staying in Ainsa? Some of the routes pass through Guaso, if you see someone there building a retaining wall, it’ll be Spekkie (Tony) of this parish. The Intersport shop is a good source of info, the square up by the castle has some good bars. Hope the good weather holds, don’t forget Wed is a public holiday (day of the dead)

I organised a bikepacking trip in May which finished in Bilbao, 1 of the group flew to Stanstead on the Sunday evening with, I’m pretty sure, Easyjet. Prices are around €30 +bike.

You may be disappointed doc, they closed their Barnsley shop a few months ago.
Op, they also used to have a distributor in Portland Oregon which majored on Titus bikes but that’s shut too. Alex(f)Hunter is, or was, their warranty person.

Not yet, if you drop me an email, I’ll send you all the details and some photos. We’re just getting going, have a look on Bearbones re a trip I organised in early May, Spanish C2C written by Dave Barter. Riding here is mainly cross country with lots of singletrack, ranging from sea level to around 1300m, pine forests and open hillsides.

Certainly not defending poor driving or the selfish twunts who are around these days but I’m sure a big factor is the cost of running a car for young people.
Getting a course of lessons and taking the driving test for a 17th or 18th birthday seems to be quite popular, especially from grandparents or parents intent on releasing the shackles of unpaid taxi service. Subsequently it can be several years before a car and insurance can be afforded and by this time they’ve forgotten all they’ve been taught or tested on. When I passed my test, my father then told me to then go out and learn how to drive. These premium reducing boxes that some use only serve to reduce the level of practice that new drivers get.

If your friend decides to ride up the Mediterranean coast to the French border at La Jonquera, they will see that the N340 forms the vast majority of the route, HOWEVER, don’t slavishly follow this road as big chunks of it are used by freight to avoid tolls on the AP7 motorway. I live near km 1100 on the N340, south of Tarragona so can advise on low traffic, decent quality alternatives in the section between Castellon and Barcelona. We may also be able to help with a bed, depending on timings.

What time of year? Through the middle of Spain might be ok in spring and autumn but searingly hot in mid summer or freezing in winter, centre is also hilly.

Blunkett was the local MP at the school where MrsPB worked as Deputy Head so she had frequent visits to meet and greet. She once ushered him into a classroom, making a fuss of Sadie, his guide dog and walking him straight into the door frame.

I’d give a company that either knowingly or mistakenly offers stuff they don’t honour a wide berth, it’s either cock-up or conspiracy. And as for On-Boarding I’d be straight out of the door!

Looks like Jamie Burrow was appointed on Oct 10th, the day it went pear shaped. Having worked at PX at the time, the sale was more of a Coup d’Etat against Dave L by some board members which he repelled and got rid of the rebels. I vividly remember a Henry V type speach by Barry Dunn post the events where he pleaded with the staff to stay loyal and not worry, within 3 weeks he was off to Go Outdoors, 6 months later everyone was sacked and some re-employed by an agency on zero hours contracts, nice.
Brant left at the same time and set up Pact then Brants Pants and the rest is history….

This is very spooky Tony. On Friday we went to Tortosa, our administrative centre, to register Trish on the Catalan tax system. This is because she has got a job teaching English to 13-18 year old schoolkids in our local town. The process involved having 2 appointments half an hour apart at offices at either end of Tortosa. The first one took 10 minutes and generated a fiscal number which we needed at the second one, then it was back in the car and over the river to the other office where the rest of the paperwork was issued, the whole process took half an hour. The major benefit, apart from the teaching income, is that we are now both eligible for free health care under the Capsalut system rather than having to pay €150 a month for private health insurance which is compulsory for foreign residents in Spain.

No it wasn’t. Plenty of busses, reduced train service, and a few taxis running.

I meant locally to where I live. Not a single bar, shop, bakery, bus was open and the goods traffic seemed very quiet.Even the national chains such as Mercadona, Lidl etc closed around here. Can’t speak for the bigger cities as I wasn’t there.

I saw more than that in 1 clip on tv on Sunday afternoon. Old woman with blood streaming down her face, man assaulted whilst trying to administer cpr to a guy lying on the pavement, woman thrown down stairs, dragged out of a building by her hair. The Guarda Civil were acting like animals against people who were totally unarmed and defenceless.
This is getting serious, the strike today was 100% observed locally. I can see Madrid trying to take over governing and impose direct rule.
