I recently bought a 130plus and noticed that with the Bluetooth on the battery like is significantly reduced, probably to around 6 hours. With Bluetooth off it’s much better, around 12 hours. I haven’t used any wireless sensors but I’m guessing they’ll have a similar effect..?

    Househusband,
I’ve often thought about that southern route. The double track past Royal Cottage goes frustratingly close to getting to Katrine Pier. Having looked at the aerial photographs there is singletrack from the pier/dam end that goes west but looks to just peter out. And the terrain in between looks pretty unforgiving. A shame as it’s on obvious missing link to complete what would be a great loop.

The road is open again after repair works to the landslide areas, but will be closed if there is a weather warning issued by the Met Office. I was up there a couple of weeks ago and unfortunately it looked like the café at Stronaclachar Pier has closed :-(

I’ve recently got a V60 T6 AWD Recharge as a company lease vehicle and it is lovely. Very quiet, comfortable, well-equipped and well built. Decent front and rear legroom too. Boot is OK for space, but not as much as I was used to with the 2011 E-class estate it has replaced. Oh, and no spare wheel due to rear electric motor. I’m only getting about 25miles on electric only mode but getting about 45 mpg in ICE mode on longer journeys. Had a V40 T4 previously and always regretted selling it 15 years ago – was a bit of a wolf in sheeps clothing, apart from the torque steer…

I have a Scandal 29er from late 2010 / early 2011 with a rigid carbon fork and still love riding it!

+1 to what Momo said. Tiny little fold up pliers that are useful for most emergencies and removing/replacing split-pins that retain brake pads, which is the main reason I got them for bike packing trips where I’m more likely to be stuck somewhere needing pliers…

I’ve used three different Exotic carbon forks on different bikes, the oldest being about 8 or 9 years, and yes they are a bit flexy but that’s the point for taking the ‘sting’ out. I’ve certainly used them on pretty technical stuff, waaayyy beyond canal path bimbling (and I’m 85kg). You won’t get forks to match the A-C of your 140 forks but remember you should factor in sag. I think the longest they do is 490mm A-C which is what I use on my hardtail which is designed for 120-130mm travel forks and the resultant geometry is fine. Sheds a whole lot of weight off the front end.

My order placed on 1st January with Deporvillage arrived yesterday (2nd Feb). It was handed over to the courier on the 4th Jan and then sat in their parcel centre in Spain until about the 28th Jan (I was told Brexit delays were to blame). Value was just under £100 and wasn’t required to pay anything extra.

I had a full xt M8000 2x11sp drivetrain and upgraded to XTR M9000 shifters and did notice a difference – slightly lighter yet crisper shifts. I’ve recently upgraded both derailleurs to M9000 (side swing front mech and SGS rear mech) and Noticed a difference again – shifting is now very light and crisp. Re-cabled when I put the new shift levers in.

Used them for years and have most definitely prolonged my gear cables from how long they used to last, particularly full length outers. Takes only a few seconds to flush the cables after the bike’s been wet or washed.

Get along to GMBC night rides on Wednesday nights and you’ll soon learn the local routes and the myriad of singletrack around Mugdock…

You in Bishopbriggs by any chance Merak? Looks vaguely familiar.

Built two and converted one garage into man-caves. Highly rewarding work! :-)

Or might even be “differentiation”? – any process in which a mixture of materials separates out partially or completely into its constituent parts, as in the cooling and solidification of a magma into two or more different rock types…

    Is it not just “separation”?

I have the VW on my T5 and I have to say it’s a great piece of kit. I carry two adult bikes (29ers) and two kids bikes (a 26″ and a 24″) and it all goes on relatively easily. I just have to be careful where forks/dropouts and hub QR meet to avoid rubbing, but that can be done pretty easily. I lace a big long cable through the bikes and rack and padlock it to make it more secure. The rack also looks pretty good when not in use and folded up.

It could of course all be an elaborate cover story and you’ve actually been off and had a nose job and facelift…

You’ve not mentioned the ‘getting past the wife factor’ though. :| Particulary as you have just bought a bike…

Road discs are OK but my experience of them is they are better in very wet conditions but not as good in the dry as well set up rim brakes.

Same problem for my two on a Beinn 20 6sp – put in new cable with Middleburn oilers and lubed with GT85 every so often. Did the trick.

Had mine out for a couple of rides now. Really like it. It has a slacker head angle than my Scandal which makes it feel planted on descents. The rear end feels nice and compliant, which is what I wanted from a ti hardtail. I have a Nobby Nic 2.25 on the back at the moment with about 10mm clearance and no issues. Would still be happier with a bit more clearance tho in case it gets really gloopy. Seat post is a tiny bit loose but tightened up the seat qr and had no issues with slippage so far.

3×9 here with an XTR M971 top swing dual-pull with the modification/amputation. Racing Ralph 2.25 on the rear. More tyre clearance than I have on my Scandal 29er with an XT bottom swing.

Finally got mine built up. Hopefully give it a proper ride this weekend. Initial impression riding it up and down the street is it feels more laid back than other 29ers I’ve ridden. Steering is nice and stable until you go towards 90deg when the slack angle ‘whips’ the bars round more rapidly. Very early days though. I’ve built it up 3×9 – I’ll try and weigh it and get a pic up soon…
