    Thanks for the replies.

    It’s the external one.
I’d like to keep the 1x version as I may go 1x at some point.

I put it on my windscreen once, never again. It makes driving in rain like going into hyperdrive which I found quite distracting. Then I possibly made a mistake by putting my windscreen wipers on & it made some sort of horrible smear effect I could barely see through.

I like it on the side windows though as it helps keep them clear.

I eventually dragged myself out for a short local XC. To avoid approaching a horse rider from behind I did my route differently than intended & then explored a bit I’ve had my eye on from the Strava heatmap; it was horse-trodden soft grass & through a few muddy fields, but still enjoyable. I somehow escaped the further rain I was expecting, which was nice, but still got plenty wet & muckit.

Ooft! It seems a bit much. The engines operate to some sort of mapping: a couple of years ago or so Alonso’s Honda engine mapping in Spa qually went dud towards the end of the lap because he was faster than expected so the engine wasn’t in the correct state – seems like much the same idea to have the brake balance auto-adjust over a lap.

I use a Butcher F&R on both my bikes now. Seems to work ok for me. Much better than the (old) purgatory in mud. Purgatory decent enough for less muddy stuff though.

I heard on the radio tonight that Google had made a working quantum computer, that must be the technology they’re on about.

I use the basic Cateye 3 LED one, and a Blackburn Mars 4.0, and never had any problems with either. The Blackburn is brighter. Both use AAA batteries, and I use rechargeable ones.

I’ve never liked the idea of all the rubber band mounted ones hence I like the plastic mounts my ones come with.

Singlespeed has never really interested me; too many hills around my area (Fife, Scotland), and I’m too unfit. :)

Good video. I’ve been getting out on my 2008 Genesis Altitude with a triple chainset & bar ends whilst my Trance is getting fixed over the last few weeks, and it’s been great fun. It is harder work than my Trance & makes local XC routes more of a challenge. Putting new 2.3″ tyres on it has helped it feel pretty good too.

He didn’t say he wouldn’t send a letter, he said he wouldn’t negotiate an extension. I thought it was an odd way for him to say it but perhaps he intends to demand an unreasonably short extension which the EU won’t like, hence they don’t accept. Maybe.

I once put the outer chainring on a triple on back-to-front. It took me a while to realize what was going on once every crank revolution as the chain got picked up by the small metal stopper post that is meant to sit behind the right crank. D’oh!

I heard on Radio4 a few minutes ago a proposed solution to not having checks on the Irish border was to have them 10minutes away.

I got a Nokia 6.1 for £125 recently (on Amazon), it seems decent enough for me, it’s my first Android phone too. I’d consider that or the Nokia 7.1 which is £164 on Amazon.

Debian linux is what many linux distros are based on, the (u)buntu ones being the most popular. Enterprise use may tend to use the RedHat linux, which isn’t debian-based. I’ve only really used debian & previously Slackware, and I’d recommend debian.

I don’t know whether to recommend a PC or RasPi as I’ve never used a Pi. I suspect there must be some limits to it compared to a bog-standard PC that might be a pain as I think it isn’t x86 based. Building a PC from scratch is fun too & could learn what all the parts are.

    Sigh.

They should do a 6-week time-wasting knock-out leadership contest like the Tories did, that’d be good.

“decent journalists” I’d rather put politicians in front of difficult journalists irrespective of whether that journalist has a reputation for being on their side or not. Politicians aught to be publicly challenged & made uncomfortable etc., they get paid an enormous wage to do what, post up some inane garbage on Twitter. Ugh.

    Thanks TJ.

I’ve no idea what will happen. I wouldn’t mind seeing Boris & his team be made to look as bad as possible, primarily by the EU. I hope the EU play hard-ball with him. Isn’t a hard Brexit the default course though? What is the mechanism for us cancelling it? We know parliament don’t want it, but is only the PM that is able to cancel Brexit to stop no-deal? Scary if that’s the case…

With all the new cabinet bawbags, PM clown & various resignations etc., do any numbers change in terms of parliamentary voting? Do cabinet bawbags have additional voting power in any way perhaps? Or was is the net change actually zero, and hence we’re just listening to different set of orifices of the same whole government now?

Thanks kelvin, so it still needs overall numbers to see it through. binners, that’s what prompted my post. It was just that I recalled months ago some other party saying it was down to the official opposition to get the ball rolling.

Is the opposition (Labour supposedly) able/allowed to call a no confidence & push things towards a general election, or does the current Tory government have to initiate it?

Purgatory is ok in dry gravelly stuff, but poor in mud. Butcher is better in mud. Good enough for me for all-round XC mincing, I run it front & rear.
