Ouch…GWS. Oh, and was the bike OK? 🙉

Not a decision I was too happy making TBH. Age (nearly 65) and and respiratory issues led me to start selling a few bikes and buying this.
I’ve ridden It twice now and been absolutely blown away. Big grins are back, and I’m hoping it’ll get me a few more riding years in. Plus, not feeling physically sick afterwards and the next day is a real bonus.
    Cheers for your input guys.

The paint is advertised as for bike/car plastic parts etc, so I’m hoping it’s ok.

It’s a spare helmet, and I’m willing to give it a go. I asked on here, I think, a while back, and it seemed to be quite popular.

Just not used to such a performance in order to wash/dry my shorts I guess.
But, if them’s the rules, I’ll do it.

So, my 7Mesh Revos are here and I tried them yesterday. All of your comments became evident: supercomfortable if a bit swishy when pedalling; not a drop of slop penetrated or was even evident on the rear.

As usual, I didn’t read the instructions, and now have (after using my usual washing machine setting)
Does everyone comply with all of this 👇

I’d love to buy local, but the LBS here that sell them have minimum stock, so it’s still a good while going through the order/returns process. Plus it’s a 30+ mile round trip for me.

Always loved Madison for their fit and waterproofing, but I’ve always had to send them back when bits fell off. That’s usually a couple of weeks of soggy arse.

Ended up selling a kidney and clicking on a pair of 7Mesh Revo.
Thanks for all your advice guys.

Z1ppy they are named “Windproof” with DWR coating though. Not sure how effective these would be on a full day’s slopfest in the Manx hills.
How have you found their actual waterproof quality Z?

Seeing as we appear to have a load of E-Bikers together on this thread, I’m going to be cheeky again and go slightly OT again. Still helpful E stuff hopefully.

I’ve got a mate whose bought a Cannondale Moterra, and loves the bike apart from the steep, in today’s terms, head angle. Is fitting an angle headset, Cane Creek etc, feasible for such heavy beasts?

I’m normally on 3 all dayers a week, and I aim to start riding the E-Bike on one of those at first.
Also we normally head over for 3 day trips to the mainland once or twice a year, and day 3 has destroyed me on the last 2/3 trips. E-bike 2 out of 3 and I’m hoping I’ll be better able to cope.
There’s also the, keeping up with the pack scenario, which hasn’t been happening for some time.
Great thread OP btw. It shows the subject up to be the emotive “can of worms” that we all know it is.

    I think there’s a C./ option also, OwenP.

Those who, due to health/age issues that will not improve, no longer have the option of: loving the climbs; getting satisfaction from the sense of achievement etc, but still want to keep riding.
I fall squarely into that category, and am hoping that going E helps me still achieve something and get some satisfaction.

Thanks D …. I’ve suggested it to our crew, and been met with so many different views ie you’ll wreck the battery/motor etc etc

Seeing as we appear to have a few STW E-xperts on here. OT, I know, but might be useful to the E-noobs and potential E-noobs:

I’ve also ordered the Trek Rail (el_boufador) The ease of battery removal was one of the reasons for choosing the Rail.
Having a set of pretty permanently spangled shoulders and neck, my reasoning was: when approaching a gate/fence (of which there are a good few on some of our rides) I could remove the battery and lift the, now 3-4 kg lighter, bike over.
Is this a viable option el_b or anyone?

I’m almost 65, and have just given in for all the same reasons as the OP, and even though I’m one step ahead of you (bike ordered) I still struggle to get my head round it.
Sure it’ll be fine after a few rides, but it just seems wrong atm.
Keeping the option to non E open for now, but age/health issues will reduce their use, I feel, over time.

Manxies on tour were meant to be here early July. Obvs we couldn’t, but all rebooked for exactly 1 year to the date.

    Heard great things btw.

Not sure how far, but Graham at Slam 69 would be my first choice.

This is the story so far. Managed to sort one bike holder, the finished item will be for 3.

    Bit rough, but it’ll do.

Been using these for years now. Don’t think they’re made anymore, but I found my last pair in Germany I think.

Ok guys, I’m going for this. Going to go for 3 slots for, rear, front, rear, wheel pattern (3 bikes obvs.)
What happens to the other end, front, rear, front?
Will they not just flap around, or do I just have to do some bungee strapping?

    pipiom

Have you ever managed to fill all 4 slots with modern MTBs?

Thanks Tracey, they sound really good for in between bikes.

I’m heading towards having a go at something like this 👇👇 with something like your shrouds in between.

    Cheers again.

I’ve now got a right armoury of ideas, cheers all.
Think I’m favouring some sort of slotted rack with the slotted end near the bulkhead, then it’s: Open rear doors; roll bikes in; strap front if necessary; shut doors and head to the pub. My kinda simple.

Feel free to keep em coming until Friday by all means.

    Many thanks all.

Always hand wash my gloves after every ride with a tiny bit of hand wash liquid. Once a month or so, put a scoop of bicarbonate-soda in the water.
