Had a £20 900 lumen bar mount torch lights and a £28 1200 lumen lid light since I started MTB 18 months ago…. Both awesome and never missed a beat and I really need good lights as the mince pies are going a bit ( varifocal Oakleys I shit you not)……..get 3-5 hours out of em…. Outlasting all of the crew’s bling lights

Many years ago I bought a little gadget thing that,I think, Navratilova was promoting. It was like a bar with 2 motorbike throttle grips on it turning in opposing directions. You simply held it in both hands and twisted left, right , left right for a few minutes each day. Looked on eBay and can’t find it yet but if I get more info I’ ll let you know.

For anyone whose interested or who is ever going over there I used a guy called “Tuscany MTB guide” and had 2 brilliant days riding in 2 totally different areas/terrains.

For the first, more XC day he brought me a Felt carbon full Suss 29er!!!!!!! Awesome. And for the second he brought me a 150 mm full Suss Mondraker 29er……best tour guide bikes I’ve ever ridden ( well apart from the brand new Trance 29er I got in South Africa)

Recently bought 2 Urge all mountain lids and they’re awesome, great fit and cozy, plenty of ventilation. Maybe less holes but strategically placed for maximum venting

Tried the boots last night after some very wet Manx weather….. Toasty dry feed and the soles stick to pedals as per my impacts/AM 41’s……. Temp hasn’t dropped yet though so I’ll update as and when

    Cheers guys
I’m getting it fitted with the Invisiframe kit and it comes with a DT stoneguard ( which might get another fitted over the top). Then it’s getting ridden in accordance with the above advice

Had Avid’s 3 and 5 on both my 26 and 29 er Anthems……..awful!!!!!!……. every other ride , back to the bars failures on both…….. Sold my 26 in the end but sent a raging email to Giant and Avid, quoting my history and several MBUK,MBR and WMB reviews, all bad.
    Surprise!!!!!!
Got an email back next day, apologising and they instructed my LBS to fit a brand new model set of Avid 9 ( bleed problems fixed apparently)………used em lots, not as good as XT’s on my Trance but they’ve never failed.
Goes to to show, that they acknowledge the issues and if pressed will act accordingly.
    I’d never buy any though.

A few of us have had problems with CTD……. Mainly no difference no matter what you’ve selected……. keep reporting this to your LBS or Fox or wherever you bought it and eventually it’ll be changed for the new innards …… It’s a known problem unit at Fox don’t let them get away with selling you a substandard item that they know is dodgy…… I did it with my CTD fork and my Avid 5 brakes , same story for them things …..ie everyone moans about bleed issues then BUYS an upgrade……… I emailed Avid and Giant and got a new set of Avid 9s fitted by my LBS FOC

I’m currently in Italy for 3 weeks so haven’t used them in anger yet. Wish I’d worn them for the IOM end to end last week though as it was quite a mudfest.

They’re more for mid winter/ thermalongs etc really but just for you as soon as I’m back IOM I’ll give them a blast.

    2nd hand Solomons + £30 … Can’t go wrong just do it!!!

Many thanks fellas………I wimped at the final hurdle after being heavily advised by my LBS Bikestyle IOM (superb by the way)…..went for Mavic SLR’s in aluminium and weighing 1620g………. Free hub replacement easy and cheap and look pretty bling anyways…….after my first IOM e2e on Sunday on the Giant Trance X29er 0 (with alloy wheels) that got everything thrown at it I dreaded to think how plastic wheels would fair up or more important how I would feel with them under me……so it’s SC Tallboy LT….2014 carbon black…..Fox 34 Kashima both ends….Rockshox reverb….. Full XTR..+ the Mavs….. I’ll post a pic when i get it …………..I’ll be the guy behind it, living in a squat

I’ve gone for feet first £30. + pp the soles are injected moulded ie solid….. They are happy to take them on and just do the soles not heels etc ( no need)…… If it all works out I’ll have an arctic/ goretex/ waterproof / flat pedal boot …. hmmm if it all works out…. watch this space … Cheers for input/ humour

Phoned feetfirst.resoles.co.uk and they said to send the boots to them for five ten sole to be fitted. Price TBA £30 ish ( sole only, fine by me)apparently + pp. sounds good, I’ll report when I get the boots back and I know exact price.

Cheers Fog….be wary of just using any old goretex boots because the sole tread pattern is the issue ie we don’t want one….. Come on five ten PLEASE make some uk friendly arctic waterproof boots …. “Polar five tan impact boots”
    Sound good????
