Thanks I thought rollers were cheaper than Turbos. Read the parabolic rollers make no difference and recommended aluminium small diameter for better wear and increased resistance.

@iainc – thats my big fear, thinking of a week in the hall way so I can’t break something and have time to stop before the kitchen should I manage to eject myself from them.

Yeah I have seen you can get rollers on a frame as well so you can sprint (through your TV screen in my case probably).

Just never having used either I am wondering if they are as crap as gym bikes?

I have a little ballast to help, certainly won’t get blown away.

Sometimes just find myself cranking away as if I was going up hill at less than 10 mph.

Must admit though I do quite well when the wind is behind me, its worst when it’s from the side as it’s unpredictable.

I try to plan so it’s in my face out and at my back coming home.

Well mine’s a cx bike but definitely more so on the road, on the mtb it’s just slowing you down. On the road I just feel its dangerous.

Meraki is good kit with a great deal of features but it is a periodic license renewal so be aware of future costs.

Its now part of Cisco, who I work for on the wireless side so if I can be of any help just shout out.

I would say Cisco etc but a full implementation would start at a minimum couple of grand.

Sunday aswell, before I left the group and got knocked off my bike by some blind driver.

There were about 12 of us cycling along a 40mph road and some arse screams up beeping their horn indicating left as we are all starting to cross the junction. yeah like we are going to stop just so you can continue with your bellendery.

To say Sunday was an interesting ride is an understatement with the usual beeps and shouts because there are more than one of you on the road.

At the same time, as I was turning, the matte black vehicle had abruptly stopped against the kerb on the exit of the junction on the double yellow lines.

    Means vehicle stopped

I saw it and braked but couldn’t stop in time,

Travelling to fast and too close, not checked his route was clear ie pulled into the read of a vehicle.

hitting the back of the vehicle.

    Ahh bless

My face and shoulder took the impact with the back of my professional level race bike going vertical into the air and slamming back down onto the road.

Cock, and how fast was he riding for his bike to go vertical immediately after???

I don’t see where the cyclist despite suggesting the vehicle was speeding and driving erratically says the driver swerved in front of him and stopped.

    read the cyclists statement

The cyclist drove into the rear of a parked vehicle he wasn’t brake checked. FFS why don’t you read the cyclists statement.

So if a vehicle is parked illegally and someone drives into it then its the driver of the illegally parked vehicles fault?

I fail to see the logic here. If said vehicle was parked legally then we would say the cyclist was at fault?

OK so the driver was a cock for not giving his details and saying “good luck with that claim”.

Does the cyclist assume that as no parking is allowed no cars will be parked and simply doesn’t look.

Deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

To the search teams and rescuers, well done, its not a job many of us could or would want to do.

@SiB Prescot is posh compared to where I used to live, Norris Green!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@harry too no because all I can remember is it was a blue Astra, I can’t recall the reg although I tried to commit it to memory as I picked my bike up and sorted myself out. Obviously my memory is not what I thought it was.

Just bloody sore now I am home and the adrenaline has wore off, I will fix that with a few beers later though, looks like Mrs Pingu will be driving 😀

bobsbooks, tried all of them and this ended up the easiest and with the most features.

Once you get used to it its OK. I think all of them leave a little to be desired.

New kitchen, dishwasher was soon deleted from list of appliances because
Mrs Pingu does dishes and saw no need to get a new Mrs Pingu when the old one still works. Not sure when they are actually done and its slightly weird as occasionally she moans about them not being done but as we don’t have fairies I can only assume she does them sometime between meals.

Rubbish they let it happen and you can’t undo it. I only watch to see how embarassingly bad and under achieving we can now be.

Hmm might ruff up the steerer but mine is worse after I have ridden over rough ground.

As soon as I tried it it felt nice so I took it and although it may look dull/understated its a pretty good bike. With the 35mm tyres its tracks and towpaths, currently got 28s on it and ride it on the road. Not as fast as a road bike I guess, it maybe my lardy arse as well but can ride all day on it.

I have one and its fine, I do have an issue with the headset working loose that I need to get Evans to look at but as for the ride etc its all good. I know a headset working loose is not a great advert but its probably a one off that they will sort out when I get around to getting there.

I worked on the premise that its a great spec for the money and doing a frame swap if I fancied something more glamorous and funds allowed would be easy enough but can’t fault it.

Henry got fed up with a Dyson fixing it all the time and bits popping off. I think I paid £70 for Henry and its briliant, the OH hasn’t asked me to fix it once.

The repayments were a small fortune to say the least, well doing the maths I think they did bloody well.

Think I might just get something for about £6-7k and run it for a year then part ex it now, see how that wrks as right now feel I’m getting stung.

Well if I could find the contract! Its the phrase guaranteed future value.

Have to see what they say when I

Well its gone back and they say its only worth £8k against £10.7 so burning it is out of the question. Now chasing for the deficit.

Johnsons water based eggshell, not yellowed at all, got to do the whole bloody house in though now but hopefully that will be it for a while.

Before that it was like painting the Forth Bridge.

I have Gore bikewear windstoppers, they keep me plenty warm and I dont bother about the wet as if you keep moving you keep warm but some over trousers would address the wet side.

Out riding today there were about 15 of us taking up the left lane and the cycle advance box of the left side only. A white freelander ploughs through the box and his whole car is in front of the white line passed the box.

Funnily his reg was actually PN15, mad me chuckle.

Pet Plan, just forked out £2k for a knee opp for the dog, had some x-rays a 18 months ago and have to get more x-rays plus additional vet fees and hydrotherapy. I think I will be on the limit of my £4k this year so will up it to the higher policy next month when its up for renewal.

Absolutely brilliant and no hassle.I have another policy for my other dog who has had no vet bills also with Pet Plan but the peace of mind is great and they are genuinely really helpful.

Glad I went with them and din’t buy on price.

I understand that you may be hurt that they forgot or didn’t call on your wife’s birthday. However, in the great scheme of things that really is trivial.

Get over it pop round and start talking, its a blip not the start of a stand off, who gives in first.

    Confession

    My GF reads the Mail.

I loathe it more with each article she recounts to me.

    pingu66

Its when she tells you and she only knows about something small and not the big thing you did you can breathe a sigh of relief.

Its the “what’s the matter” answered by ” nothing” that gets me as I then have to think which “nothing” she actually knows about and is mad about. Hence I never fess up incase I simply dig a bigger hole.

Just suck it up, or go the pub and get some space.

So it seems relatively easy to hack an ebay account. Not sure if that would be a security floor, not requiring strong passwords or something else but surely ebay could be doing more to prevent this or informing on what to look for before you get scammed.

When will this reach the Daily Wail so they can post a hate filled article about STW censorship and all cyclists attitudes to “the free press”

‘cyclists’ are people just like her

Um no they aren’t I would think another cyclist would stop and see if the cyclist the ran off the road was ok and then not tweet about it afterwards.

She is a low life and all is she probably thinks is “shit I got caught” rather than “Hmm cyclists are people too, just like me, and most probably do pay VED (car tax) so I was wrong and in a moment of madness”
