    Id gaffer tape that!

Get a dressing on it, bandage then gaffer tape to keep it dry and make sure it bloody stayed together till hospital. Make sure the tape isnt on the skin just holding a bandage round the leg.

Good job no infection. Be great scar though.

Pretty much always had a bike but done the discovering beer and women and left it alone.

Now settled down wanting to get fit. Injured early this year on first real training ride so only had about 6 weeks training. Absolutely loving being back in the saddle. Looking at buying a second bike as get bored easily so wanting a CX bike as do it all kind of machine.

Forunately my partner loves to get rid of me for a few hours and lets me induldge in my new found hobby. It was her suggestion to splash out £4k on a new bike, so I better use it.

IPv6 will be taken up initially by service providers and very large enterprise organisations.

Private IP addressing which is what you see on your home routers giving out 192.168.1.x will stay around for a long time yet.

As more and more devices become mobile and the expectation of anywhere connectivity becomes the norm there will be a move to using IPv6 at the client entry point. This will largely be transparent to the user using DHCPv6.

Activities to utilise IPv6 will largely take place at the enterprise edge initially using IPv4 to IPv6 translation even though most clients now are dual stack capable.

I agree with a lot that has been said.

However when you have a government saying zero tolerance on crime that inclues bike theft.

Yes its low priority for the police but for the “victim” it is still traumatic.

If you recover your property without the police its too easy for some scum bag to go to the police and make accusation which waste time, so if you do discover your bike don’t give the guy aa slap, no matter how much we all know they may deserve it.

How much police time is taken up with pety crime. I would guess the majority, things like shoplifting, drugs, vandalism etc.

My exeriences recently are of a person making false allecations to the police, this has happened to me on more than one occasion as a particular person has a vendetta against me. I am sumarily arrested and investigated, often over a period of time and never have a case brought as there is nothing to answer. However this individual can do this every few months wasting both the police and my time. However the police are forced to do this as a matter of procedure.

Now that gives me a negative view but I respect they are doing their job. Even when sitting in a cell for twelve hours. They even bring me home now!

Equally and we have to admit this, there are also bad police officers. As in any large organisation I think I read statisticlly that 1 in 10 people in large organisations will be useless. Now there is legitimate long term illness but I am sure not all of it is. You will have people “swinging the lead”. There is still racism in the police, some of them are thugs, some no doubt corrupt. We see this in the media.

However I doubt very much its a majority. Yes things can be improved but it will never be perfect. Unfortunately its a public service that we pay for and a hot media topic. They will make mistakes as they are human.

Seldom will you see good news stories as it doesnt make good copy. I only hope that the police force can improve along with our other front line services like the NHS etc with the severely reduced finances and resources available to them.

By and large most police are trying to deliver a good service and peform to the best of their ability. Unfortunately they have neither a magic wand nor unlimited resources, when we are the “victim” of a crime we all feel that the full resources of the local police an Scotland Yard should be utilised to the recovery of our bike. I woul feel the same. BUT we also have to be realistic, no matter how unpalletable that may be. Due to a lack of resources little effort will be put into solving low priority crimes.

Yeah I have the padded shorts, a gore and alturra, my other bike was OK but sold it and realized I could have swapped seats. I have been applying sudocrem which has helped with the chaffing as I have toughened my arse up but its not that. It real pain and jarring of the seat bones etc.

Never had an issue with a seat in my life but never ridden as much as I am. Even though it mat be low compared to some here. I dont want it to get in the way of enjoying my ride and dont want to be spending out on crap seats.

Will most LBS have demo saddles? Selle Italia are supposed to be good. I realise its a personal purchase but I guess its “how will I know it will be OK”

I went on a ride that covered a few segments and its now saying 2nd fastest even though its a well slower time than my best and doesn’t list in the segment.

Also theres a segment thats impossible to ride near me that someone posted at 22mph and there is simply no track.

There are a lot of glitches in the system but if you treat it as a “bit of fun” you won’t go far wrong I feel.

Check your wireless card drivers make sure they are upto date

If you can change the power on the router for the wifi signal do that.

Check the channels that people in your area are on and choose a channel away from that. Most are set to channel 1 so go for 6 or 11. Dont use any channels between these.

If its the router form your ISP they are crap it really is worth spending some cash and getting a decent wireless router. Even the BT ones can be poor if you are unfortunate enought to get the Thompson produced one rather than the Siemens even though they look identical.

Personally I would say its a calendar day.

You can start at 3am ride 8 hours kip 7 then ride the remainder.

If you need your beuty sleeo in the night what the challenge? Doing it in a day is the sacrifice and you need to work outside your comfort zone.

I think you may be correct, I am probably not trying hard enough! Still getting some fitness up not seen 30mph yet but I do get the impression that they may break away quickly.

I got mine to help with my fitness this summer so I am not fighting the tyres.

However I suspect that many mtb tyres will be sketchy at 30mph.

aa nope not stupid at all mate. Just a forum and I have an opinion. SOme of those who quoted me didnt even have that.

The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 covers dogs under proper control so if the Dangerous Dogs Act is civil, which I belive it isn’t then my mistake.

    60 mins 😯

I’m no where near as fit as I want to be but average 13mph on the flat rough tracks where I put the miles in to get my fitness up and thats on an out and back so hopefully wind compensated.

I’d say 75 mins. 60 mins or less is good going on an MTB I thinks. I’d be made up.

WTF are you quoting where I state “I am a dog owner” for. Its as I am trying to point out a balance in my view. That is not anti dog etc. And it is my view that I would call the police. So no Mail etc, if you dont have anything constructive shut the f*ck up.

    DezB

I don’t actually see why I needed to state “it could have been a child’s face” rather than it could have been a “child”. So a child being attacked a dog and skin ripped of its arm etc would be less traumatic than it face perhaps or does it only matter if its a child’s face?

Equally it is an “Uncontrolled dogs. It is an offence for a dog to be outside the owner’s premises and not under control”

There ois your offence therefore what the problem with what I do and do not know about dogs.

    legend

Yes it could have been a child.

If you want to rip someones post apart first have something constructive, second make sure that you are actually correct.

This has been discussed in so many threads here.

Dogs “can” be dangerous. I didn’t see where it said the dogs were tied up in the garden? May have missed it.

However the garden should be secure.

The animals should be well cared for. As the OP said he has given them information to help, which may not go down well, but any owner should be aware of specific welfare for their dogs.

The issue here is the dog escaped. If the attack was in the dogs garden then I would say fair play, its in the dogs territory, dog chases cat etc, God forbid it caught the cat which would normally be straight out over a fence.

The RSPCA would be able to help in assessing if he dogs are well cared for and help or educate the owners.

I think it would be a police matter as the dogs were not in a secure environment and attcked an animal, realistically that should not happen.

Its also down to who maintains the fence etc I guess, but if you have a dog wether it is or is not your fence you stil have to make that provision.

Minimum they pick up the vets bills. If their dog is insured this will be covered under third party. Also they should have their garden secured, how did the dog escape?

Its your call if you call the police, unfortunatly dogs will chase things thats why they need supervision, but its the unsepervised etc bit where the owner has let their dogs down, aswell as not exercising them.

I would call the police and I am a dog owner, it could have been a child. You could call the councils dog warden, they will have one and get advice. Your vet may be in a position to advise aswell.
