    Success!

They work fine. No new seals needed. Lovely. Might keep them now :D

Don’t get me wrong, I’d never have bought them but seeing as I’ve got them I’ll give them a shot.
Also it was easy to get as far as I did today, I just turned the bit adjuster. I’ll be locking them off and hoping for the best!

Can’t help with Deore, but I seem to recall SLX weighs about 5g more than XT, the weight saving is in the rings.
This was the case a year or so ago anyway.

I set up a 10spd setup with a 9spd SLX front mech the other day, it was fine.

Just reread and saw that the paint was also soft, almost certainly down to temperature.

Weather won’t be helping, much too cold to paint at the moment.
Hopefully it’s just the clear that’s crazed, rub it back and do it again. Very light layers, rattle can clear is piss thin and it’ll take time for the solvents to disappear in this weather.

Even when I paint with rattle cans now I use my spray gun and 2k clear for the lacquer, it’s nice to be able to lay a light coat down, put 2 more on in about 20 mins and be done. [smug face :) ]

I’d consider a specialized command post, mine was excellent and at about 2 years old I’m reasonably sure it had never been serviced, still worked fine.
Lot cheaper than a reverb if you’re looking 2nd hand, never used a reverb so can’t comment on how much better they are, but the command post is certainly excellent in its own right.

So the slower they are, the more they earn? Clever!

Never ridden in the blackdowns, but they’re some 20 miles south. Rode rowberrow for the first time on the weekend.

That was our ride, we started the other side of the hill at Burrington, which wasn’t a great idea. I’d start at the base of rowberrow near The swan Inn. Get up to the top and you’ll see the woods on cheddar/shipham sde of the hill, lots of single track in there and you’ll see plenty of people there to give you a guide around. Just get up onto the top by the trig point and wait 5 minutes, guarantee you’ll see some cyclists to tag along with!
