No going back for me, it’s hassle free riding, and I don’t use UST specific tyres or rims.

I looked at a few in the last slump, like people say, quite often stripped of anything of the smallest value, light bulbs, light switches, fireplaces etc. Knew someone who bought a huge repo’d house on a private road on a golf course, the whole kitchen ceiling was missing!!? As long as your/he’s not buying it without viewing I wouldn’t worry, if the price is fair go for it.

Thats 15 minutes away from me, is it worth a drive up to have a look?

    Wouldn’t have thought so, it’s dark now 😉 😆

What about Izal then – should the sheets hang down or point up?

Ha ha, Izal, saw some of that in a little tea rooms in the Peak District at the weekend, they had a sort of mueseum shelf in there with loads of old tobaco stuff and curiously some bog roll too!!

Had 29″ Halo Freedoms for about 5 months and they are sweet 8)
Guess if the 29’s stay straight the 26ers stand a good chance 😉

I don’t think he ever made a secret of the fact he buys stuff in and has it branded SSC, so the chances are they will look similar/identical to other ‘brands’ ❓

PS. Doesn’t mean I can’t own, ride and enjoy bikes with gears 😉 Horses for courses and all that, it’s my first choice ride though 😆

I would beg to argue that the R32 is powerful but is not a cockmobile. But then I am biased. A reasonably specced manual R32 MK V was about £25k. For the R20 with DSG, recaros etc definitely be hitting £30K

Agreed, one of the exceptions to the rule 😉
(until it’s price drops enough for the youngsters to start ‘adapting’ them!)

Whoops – thats an impressive stack !

Nope minimal most of that damage is done by plastic heeds cutting them out.

    Exactly!!!!!

It’s hard to find a powerful car that isn’t a cockmobile!!!

I intend to get a dog at some point and have decided a Rhodesian Ridegback is the dog for me. Can run all day (and catch Lions if there are any around) but is the laziest dog ever if it’s at home, quite content to curl up and sleep all day. Sounds too good to be true!
From a year old you can take them out on all day epics!!
Sounds like they need to be trained well in the early days, but what dog doesn’t, afterall, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks!!

If she has “touched his life” that much shouldn’t he have it somewhere he can see it? It could be quite dangerous if he forgets its there and catches a glance in a mirror!! 😆

I snapped one of the knobbles (that’s not a medical term!!) off just above your break and crack my shin bone a few inches down from the knee joint whilst skiing in Italy. They X-Rayed me in a mountainside shed, told me it was broken, made me lay on my front, splodged some very cold plaster on the back of my leg, wrapped a bandage round the front and dropped me back at my hotel. They gave me some crutches and an evelope with my x-rays in but that was it, no pain killers, nothing. I managed to make out “30 days without complication” as a prognosis in the X-ray stuff, so wasn’t too worried.
When I got home and took them to the hospital, the consultant said “oh yes, an L shaped metal plate, some bone from your hip and non weight bearing for 3 months” Holly sh*t I, I wasn’t expecting that!

Still, that was about 12 years ago, it stopped me skiing for one season but it’s never hampered me cycling, I can ride all day without problems, I don’t cycle competitively, but I’ve done the South Downs Way in a day, the Coast to Coast in 4 days and 8 day journey across the Alps and apart from the odd twinge it’s been fine, so I’m sure you’ll heal just fine, they told me it is 18 months before it’s as strong as it going to get, but I was doing plenty long before then 😉 It’s just a bit of a nuisence to be out of action for a while!

It’s great to find a form of exercise that you enjoy!
It’s great to be able to scare the sh*t out of yourself at times!
It’s great in the boggy winter months, it’s great in the dry summer months (when we get them! 😆 )
You control the challenges you set yourself (sometimes)
It’s often educational, from learning about bike repairs, to first aid or indeed the countryside.
There aren’t many negatives, apart from being hit by a car trying to get to the hills (got a nice new bike out of though!) and the ever increasing prices 👿

The smart car was liveried with ‘My Old Dutch’ pancake house. Young looking guy refuses to give me insurance details, tells me he owns My Old Dutch and that….

My Old Dutch have been around at least 25 years so I doubt it’s his company unless daddy has given it to him! Pursue him down the correct channels, you’ve gor everything in your favour!

    I love mine!!

Took my FS 26″ for the first time in 3 months on Saturday and found it hard work in comparison, but the 29er is rigid SS so much lighter.

Wouldn’t be without either though, although the 29er frame is due to be swapped for a SIR9 if it ever turns up!

    Charlie ….. ??
    Jungle …… ??
    Where’s my frame!!!????

Right now scardypants I can’t afford the “Hit” I’m a student who was living offof the interest on my savings. I can’t afford to do that now, hence selling stuff, Including the Ti456, the Kona A, ALL my spare wheels, the Alfine, the Satmap etc etc.

Starting to downgrade and hopefully get enough cash to survive until the summer.

I can’t be bothered to read any further than the quote above, I’d love to be a ‘poor’ student, having to live off my savings and shed some of my spare wheeels!! FFS, try being employed, having every single perk removed, shift allowances cut, no sign of a payrise with ever increasing outgoings…. Savings are a thing of the past!

Oh, and yes, I agree with the original post, it shouldn’t go on on a regular basis, sure I’ve bought a seatpost that I didn’t end up using, stuck it on ebay to see if I got more or less for it and made about 6 quid before the commission, paypal fees etc, but it could have gone the other way. (It seemed at first the seatpost had got lost in the post and the buyer told me they were a poor struggling student that couldn’t afford to lose any money, nor can the employed!!!)

    Sorry, rant over.

Hmmm, I got hit by a car whilst on my bike a couple of years ago, thinking back I got a call or two in the months after, just thought it coincidence at the time, but now you mention it it’s spookily suspicious!!!

Mind you, they do have all sorts of leaflets in hospitals about suing the medical staff if they make a gaff so it wouldn’t surprise me if the details get passed on!!

    What’s a 29RS ?

Back to the topic, I love my 29er!!

Fantastic statement though, like SS is S H I T etc. etc.

My 29er is SS and I love that aspect too 😆

Si, so much for telling me to keep it secret, I think it’s out of the bag now!!
