Cheers everybody, I’m mildly hopefull being a glass half full kind of guy!
Brant – Guess what – It’s an Alfa!!!
I’ll check the wheel to then, it’s an 18″ alloy, so dont want to miss any problems with that as it sounds fairly common!
I’ve reported to the Highways Agency, raised one report for the pothole and one for the oli slick outside my house 🙄 Can’t be done under the same incident!
I’ll be photographing this afternoon while trying not to make matters worse by getting run over!!
PikeBN14Free MemberNo, it’s a proper b road. There are white lines sprayed round it, so it looks like someone is aware!!
The roads have a taken a fair hammering in the sunny south, where I am, this year, the worst I’ve seen in my 40 years!!
Cheers Hora, I’ll give it a go….
PikeBN14Free Membermrmichaelwright – sifted through the source code!
You only need to right click the original (non)pics to find the properties, then copy them in to you’re browser.
PikeBN14Free MemberCompletely disagree with iamsporticus with reference to the snow, got them on my rigid 29er and the were spot on in the snow on Monday!! ❓
PikeBN14Free MemberFunniest thread in a while!!! 😆
Bonj – When you’ve calmed down, read through it from the start, I think even you will have a good laugh, especially if Andy has sorted things out for you! I only read the first page, proves you can have too much of a good thing! 😀
My god, what would it have been like if you were out of pocket for a Nite Rider Moab at £432 from CRC !!!
PikeBN14Free MemberCan’t belive you’ve got more replies than my ‘what do you have in your fish finger sandwich’ post!
I think my >£40k for 6 O levels is good value, lots of on the job training and shed loads of useless certificates from various training courses, most of which are now obsolete …….. you’ve probably guessed it’s IT by now!
It’s all building up to the big shutdown, so after paying me shedloads for years, lately for doing next to nothing, they have announced a shutdown, hopefully redundancy looms in a year or two with about 24 years service and a payoff in or around the 6 figure region!! Worst case is they find me something else to do!! 😥 🙁
PikeBN14Free MemberFFS the red mist has descended.
Wouldn’t have noticed! 🙄
I would try and speak to the overall person in charge, not the one for that day and point your point accross, seems like you have a fairly good case!
That would severely p me off too!PikeBN14Free MemberThanks for the info chaps, been out and about all day, I’ll go through it more thoroughly tomorrow and maybe get back to you Cluber.
By cheap I was meaning sub £100 and that is the max I would be loking to spend, hopefully much less 🙂
PikeBN14Free MemberThink I’ve heard people say a 26″ tube will ‘stretch’ to a 29″ wheel, but I have just got up after a few Stalla’s last night!!
PikeBN14Free MemberI think I had them a couple of years ago, I say ‘think’ because I never saw any, or any droppings, just found a carrier bag with a loaf of bread in that I’d left in the hall completely ransacked one morning! Mentioned it at work and a woman with a small farm like place said she had some rat/mouse poison that would do the trick. I put little piles of the crystals out a couple of nights in a row and they vanished, next night I was cutting some cheese and thought I’d give some to my little ‘friends’, cut in to cubes and encrusted with the poison(all the better for taking back to the nest)! 3 cubes went overnight, 5 the next night and 5 the night after ……. then they were still there the next night, and the next!
People warned me that I might get nasty whiffs if I used poison, but never smelt a thing, and haven’t had any more visitors!
I’d bought some traps, but didn’t fancy listening to them snapping shut at all hours, or removing the victims!
PikeBN14Free MemberThose were the days, my old Montego Turbo, bigger turbo, huge intercooler, carb off a model engine to bleed air from the waste gate to control boot pressure!! It was 150bhp as standard but used to give std. Cosworths a shock!! Most fun I’ve had with my clothes on!!
Oh yes, it did have a dump valve, not to increase power but to prevent turbo stall as previously mentioned, it had a carb, not fuel injection, so as soon as you take your foot off the throttle the butterfly closes and the boost pressure has nowhere to go – que the dump valve, turbo keeps spinning and less lag in the next gear simple.
Obviously open to abuse because the driver can decide where to back off the throttle!!
PikeBN14Free MemberCO2 works for me, once it’s blasted the tyre out to the edge of the rim (take the valve core out when using the gas) it’s a doddle.
Let it down (don’t have much choice without a valve core!) stick the Stan’s or whatever Jiz in and pump up with whatever pump takes your fancy.
Then you get months of hassle free riding. My bike was in a LBS and they lent me a demo bike that I merilly headed out on, I’d just turned to head for home when I got a puncture (10 miles from home), oh poop, no spare tube or pump because I was so used to the hassle free tubless riding! 🙄
PikeBN14Free MemberI DO give way to horses, but logically why should I?
I can control my bike without it suddenly raising the front wheel and shooting of in some random direction, or spinning round and round in circles!
Why shouldn’t the horse rider go hide it’s uncontolable 1/2 ton of muscle somewhere while I continue on in a contolled fashion?
For those that haven’t read all the way through this post, I ride my bike with my GF and her horse every weekend, nothing against horses, but I really do think that logic says the one with the uncontrollable beast should have some responsibility here?
PikeBN14Free MemberTell them to add up all the money they’ve had in from everyone and if it’s still short by 4 payments at the end then you can’t have paid, bit like having an argument in a shop over you having given them a £10 note or a £20 note, you have to wait till they cash the till up to find out!! 😆
PikeBN14Free MemberI ride every Sunday with my GF on her slightly (that’s being kind) mad horse, it’s a thorough bred ex-race horse, which as she puts it are ‘man made’ and the worst kind! Anyway, back on track, he’s fine with everything if it’s in its place, a person on a bike is no problem, a bike laying at the side of the path freaks him out, as does a fridge or armchair that some ****t has dumped! So the thought of going and hiding in a bush is just about the worst thing you could do for him, guess they must all be different.
The main thing for me is I don’t do anything differently since having a GF with a horse, I was always considerated of horses because even if you’re in the right the kick in the head it might give you if it rears is still gonna hurt! It takes nothing more than common sense for cyclists and bikes to mix, but I agree, the abuse you get when trying to be considerate is comical at times!!
There are definitely preconceptions, I’ve seen dropped kit and asked horse riders if it’s theirs and they seemed shocked I’m speaking to them rather than hurling abuse!
PikeBN14Free MemberLooks like a bigger Maxx Daddy, 50% bigger so 4800 is a bit optimistic!

PikeBN14, sorry to hear that. i’ve had one for 2 years, i think it will be worth the wait.Came very close to getting my money back, but in the email discussion I had with the supplier he mentioned another review in the Jan What Mountain Bike mag, so I got it and decided to hang on, everyone that knows anything about them say the same thing! They have now gone up £170 so that was another reason for not cancelling!!
PikeBN14Free MemberI’m not a plumber, but would guess half a day at whatever plumers charge – £200 – £250 labour + and materials.
It’ll be interesting to see how far out I am!!

niner sir9. highly praised, even by uk mag mtbreview.Good luck getting hold of one, I ordered a Godzilla Green on on 8th September, the estimated delivery time being 6 weeks, but to ring for a more accurate estimate. Was told 2 weeks – well chuffed.
STILL WAITING NOW, should be here early bext month, (it will now be Rootbeer in colour) but I’ve heard that a few times already!!
PikeBN14Free MemberI went to the docs a few years ago with the same thing, I must have been somewhere around 34 – 36, he gave them a prod and poke, agreed they were pretty noisy, asked if I’d played much football/rugby (which I hadn’t) and said his were far less noisey and he had!
That was about it, very helpful!!
I was concerned they were destroying themselves and might need ‘cleaning out’ he said as I wasn’t in pain he couldn’t see a surgeon wanting to operate.
I might not be in pain but it makes me want to vommit when I walk up the stairs!

Its your own fault for owning a Buggati VeyronThey wouldn’t have sat him in the back seat of the patrol car, they would both have been jammed in the passenger seat fiddling with knobs!

Every time I’ve been stopped I’ve always been asked if I know why they stopped me (it’s tempting to say something smart like “give us a clue” or “don’t you know?”) but there has always been a good reason for it – usually cos I’ve been driving like a twonk.Standard training, I’ve been there, I kept saying I didn’t and he kept saying “you must know” in the end I said we could go on like this foreverer so he whipped out his fixed penalty book and gave me a ticket for going through a red light! It was only just Amber! I told him I wouldn’t accept it so he took me to court and I was let off something I didn’t do in the first place! Good use of taxpayers money! (Poo, my money!!!)
PikeBN14Free MemberVery nice, but it’s a bad time to be coming to the market at that price!
PikeBN14Free MemberJust taken my rabbit in this morning! Poor little bu88er, he was so happy yesterday!
Sorry, that doesn’t help but the thread made me think of him!
PikeBN14Free MemberAny sign of the Niner yet ?
NO!!!
Early Feb is the latest ETA! I’ve told Niner what I think of their shambolic capabilities to build and supply a frame! It was supposed to be 2 weeks when I ordered on Sep 8th! (oh, that’s 2008)
PikeBN14Free MemberProbably do then, before it’s sh@gged like my forks when i sent them off to be serviced 😳 😥
PikeBN14Free MemberI have a 26″ full Suss bike and rigid 29er, you don’t feel like your’re riding a bike with big wheels, it just feels like a bike!
Don’t rule them out thinking they are different! 🙂
PikeBN14Free MemberRidethealps are a good bunch, with some great trips. Did the Chamonix –> Zermatt ride with them, awesome!
PikeBN14Free MemberGerri Halliwell, but probably not in the Union Jack dress! 😉 😀

We’ve been keeping an eye on the local rescue centre. Is there any other brands we could consider? The sml lab size is better than the ridgeback. Iive see one of those and although nice perhaps a little large for us.Ridgebacks are classed as a ‘medium’, but then I suppose unless a Great Dane is an XL it would be!! 😆
PikeBN14Free MemberIf you’re fit, and the Rescue place has one, you could try a Rhodesian Rideback. They can run all day apparently (when over 1 year old), and if you come accross any lions they’ll take care of them for you 😀
PikeBN14Free MemberOf course, there’s alway the one’s just a smidge over budget …
SE Racing Lager 2009 £429 but a nice looking bike, in white at least, not so sure about the black/red version!
Sorry, couldn’t link direct to the big picon the website!
PikeBN14Free MemberA nutritionist woman we had talking at work a year or so ago said it’s best to soak the oats overnight, but I can’t remember why!
Do you add water or milk to them – out of interest?
