    Auckland over Wellington.

Wellington is too windy and the fishing is better in Auckland!

I lived in N.Z. for 11 years and have been back for holidays since.I can't rate the country highly enough.
Everything about it, the people, the scenery, lifestyle and all the positive comments that you will find on here are spot on. If you don't give it a go you will never know and may just regret it forever.
The country does have it's issues like everywhere else, although not on the same scale as you might find in the UK. What some people do find is they get homesick (obviously) but also people can find themselves feeling a little isolated and detached from the rest of the world as N.Z. is a long long way from everywhere.

Helps if you like/play rugby too.

Enjoyed Banksy's work for quite some time now. I would see his work appearing around Shoreditch a good few years ago. Gets a little stick now for selling out but I still like him.

There is a perimeter trail as stated above ^^ but can be rather wet in places. Rode across the "danger area" yesterday, the red flags were not out. Loads of fresh snow and twas good fun in the slippery stuff.

    ^^As PP said^^

Quite a few on my estate have returned home after setting out to work earlier this morning. I drove to Peaslake a week before Xmas and it was a little slippery then, the weather is colder now so I wouldn't even bother trying just yet.

Could park at the Chantries and ride from there.

I was lucky enough to see two otters when I was working in Ardvasaar and another one when camping near the Bad Step a few years ago. Wonderful creatures.

Similar thing happened to me on the Basingstoke canal near Woking on a night ride last summer. Some bloke hiding in the woods jumped out in front of me blocking the towpath, started behaving in a very odd manner. I decided not to entertain said bloke, then he got rather abusive and gave chase.

    Was she fit?

    Split the loan in two.

10 years fixed, say for 60% of total loan, so that gives you stability for a length of time, then the remaining 40% (you can play with the ratios) at something like the 2.5% over base to keep things cheap. Check the charges so the 2.5% is flexible, then if rates sky rocket you can you can dump that part of the mortgage and look for somewhere cheaper to place that part of the loan.

    Best of both worlds.

I realy liked it and would go again.

Can be a bit challenging on the sales technique (see above comments)but plenty to see and do. I didn't go with a tour company and travelled independently with 2 female friends ( who got hassled a bit)so we weren't part of the touristy masses being herded from one place to another. Cairo is not worth visiting apart from the Egyptian Museum and Pyramids. Sinai is fab, great snorkelling and scenery and you can visit Petra in one day, there and back. Stayed in nice international hotels and local B&B's, all fine. Luxor,Aswan and the Nile all interesting and plenty to see. Would like to head out to the Oases and desert one day and take my bike too. Lonely Planet guide is obviously a good reference.

Lived in Guildford for the last five years.
Good town centre, good pubs and restaurants, lots of riding from the doorstep, Waterloo station 35 mins by fast train, easy access to A3.
Loads of very nice villages around but quite pricey.

What work will you be doing?

As already stated, there are quite a few places you can park for free in London on a Sunday. Regents Park has quite a few free parking spaces and thats where I head to.

I lived in Moscow for about a year when Boris Yeltsin was in power. Lots of vodka fuelled violence, lots of guns and many people willing to mix vodka and guns to get what they wanted. I managed to avoid most trouble and rather enjoyed my time there but it could be very brutal and very unforgiving.

Did this builder do all the external work on the extension??
Are you sure that the water is coming in through the windows?
If you are getting sooo much water in that you can wring a towel out after a downpour you might find that the leak is coming in from somewhere other than the window. Could be that the water enters the the external facade above the window at the gutter or soffit for example, and travels down the wall cavity and then hits the window frame, that then sends the water in to the room. If the window is the problem then it is fairly easy to fix, good quality silicone will do the job very well. If the windows aren't the problem (as I find to be the case quite often), then it can be rather difficult and expensive to fix.

Japanese knives are really special, though effing expensive! Most of the Japanese knives you see for sale in the UK are mass produced and despite that, they are really good quality. However the Japanese Knife Shop in Marylebone is something else and the guy in the shop (Jay, I think his name is) really knows his stuff. There are some incredible knives in the shop that are handmade in Japan by master craftsmen. The key to buying a great knife (according to Jay) is the steel and then getting a sharpening stone that matches the quality of the steel. I think they have a website.
