With regards to the map can we Southerners swap the Isle of Skye for Wolverhampton?

And will we need to show our passports to get in?

Tron……they're from Chile, they came over here because they thought they could ge a better life by milking our benefits system, and before anyone accuses me of being xenophobic, anyone, black, white, green, yellow, british, german, chilean etc etc who think that the state owes them a living are gravely mistaken, the benefits system shouldn't be a way of receiving money to spend it on booze, fags, video games etc, unless all of those things have now become necessities of life.

toomanybikes – where in the clip did the girl request anything from the benefits system or suggest the state owes them something?? I think she was asking for a "living wage" and is that too much to ask?

I have quite a bit of sympathy with the girl as her mum and gran are going out each day and working as cleaners, how can anybody knock someone for getting up off their butts and doing a job. Cleaning is not a great job but someone has to do, so good on them. If you're working hard for a full day then I believe that you are entitled to a living wage. After a day's work her family should be able to afford to get the tube home, it's public transport, ffs – transport for the (working)public!! I would rather there was more working people like the girls family in this country than the multitude of people that can't be bothered to get up and go to work.

Some of the comments on here are very harsh.

Time for a bit of a wind up there monskie. Tell him that he'll be likely a small prison sentence of about 4 weeks or so but his cell mate "Buba" will make it feel more like a year with all that attention that Buba will lavish on him every night!!!!

Shouldn't be a problem if the car is mechanically sound. I've had a holiday in Northern France 5-up in a Punto (twas rather cosy though) and I drove from UK to Monaco and back in a 23 year old VW camper once, what it lacked in mechanics, it made up for in space. Plenty of food and drink stops make the trip a little adventure in its own right.

Not a trail centre but I have done Talybont-On-Usk from Guildford in a day with a full days riding, left about 6;45am. The Gap ride is a little boring for some but it's easy to add on a few loops here and there to make it a big day out and you feel like you're out in the hills proper. Talybont is a nice village with good pubs for a post ride pint and feed.Get there early and you can park at the bottom of the trail that leaves the village up into the surrounding hills.

I agree with Heathenwoods points and I hope that Cav doesn't self destruct in the meantime. There are people outside the sport that are starting to notice him and his antics and that is good for the sport. IMHO.

The Donkey between Tilford and Elstead is quite good, bike friendly too. They have donkey's in the garden out back.

Expect to see plenty of thugs turning up looking for a fight – the police

What will happen? – a few handbags, then everyone of them will trot off back to their mundane, unfulfilled, empty, boring lives.

Option 1 as you can't knock someone for giving it a go. If it was one of my mates though, "banter" would be expected!

Tis all about the guarantee, I have an old TAG that needed a new battery, gave the watch and £45 to jewellers. Got the watch back and went swimming with it on and 6 months later watch fell apart. Back to jewellers and all replaced FOC due to seals failing, jobs a good un. If it's a good watch worth doing IMHO.

It's far too easy for a customer to find an excuse not to pay a subcontractor, so I understand the OP's predicament and I'm with oldgit and hora on this subject too. Hope you get things sorted out fella.

    Wansley,

Sounds like you've already made your mind up and that's no bad thing! I'm not trying to put you off or change your mind, just trying to make you look at your career change from different perspectives. At the end of the day it's your decision and only you can make that decision but think hard about it. Is there a lot of working away from home and have you worked away from home before, will the missus tolerate you working away (now or in the future)? Sounds like he sources his work from one company and therefore doesn't have to get his own work in, so that makes things a bit easier.

I have worked on site for a quite a while and I loved it.I have worked all over Europe and the UK and enjoyed the places I went to but it's not for everybody. I don't work on site any longer but I am still in construction, instead I do paperwork and go to meetings etc and that can be effing hard work and frustrating. I enjoyed the manual side of things much more but the role that I do now is better for me and my lifestyle (esp in the long term) and I'm not completely exhausted at the end of the week if I'm honest.

And if you do take the job then you'll be able to fettle your own bike yourself! Good luck matey.

Think very carefully about your decision as it could affect the rest of your life, what offers the best long term prospects, think about wages, conditions, promotions etc etc and your quality of life in the long term.

I work in construction and when I'm busy I work silly ridiculous hours, which means I have little time for anything but work, work and more work, then when I'm not so busy I earn less and that's not good. Being able to "do" manual work is all about getting your head round it, any idiot can lift heavy stuff, but doing a manual job well means you are organised, clean and tidy, accurate, communicate well etc etc. What is your GF's step dads order book like? Is the work definite orders, actually on paper for you to see or just what he is telling you? Don't feel obligated to him just cos he is family.

Manual work can be good as well though and you can do OK for yourself too. By the sounds of it, if it goes wrong and doesn't work out, you have time to give something else a go.

An average night ride ranges from 12 to 18 miles and at the weekend an average ride would be between 25 and 40 miles. I try to do 3 rides a week and vary the terrain/route/pace etc as much as I can.

it's Shimano XT and done about 500 miles max, probably less. Might try those KCNC jobbies on and see how that goes. I am very surprised how quickly it's worn though.

    psychle,

You don't state where you want to stay but you could try the Kingston Country Courtyard in… er… Kingston. A bit over budget but looks nice and always seems popular. The Square & Compass is within striking distance too.
