You literally didn’t have to drill anything? What I said above is from the BX manual.

It’s the right lever, V2 Ascends flipped the cable. The cable nipple just rests in the post actuator, it’s a bit gross but they don’t fall out and operation is smooth.

If you find that displeasing use your old post end barrel and pinch at both ends. Just fix the post side first and then carry on as normal. But I would just do it the first way.

Slightly off topic… The Orbea OMR level carbon mountain bike frames (anything full suspension) are equal to or higher than the CC Santa Cruz frames for carbon grade/layup technique. They are cheaper because A – Orbea a workers co-op and not legally required to line shareholders pockets B – everything except the bare frame layup is done in Spain, from painting to bike assembly. That’s a lot of people cut out of the chain, and people need paying. Then they are dealer direct. Again, more people out of the chain. Not sure how you could look at a Rallon/Occam/Terra etc up close and work on them not seeing them as a premium product really, because they are.

The alu frames are welded in Portugal as well, so totally EU produced.

The Santa Cruz are lovely too, just built a Stigmata for someone and was really impressed with the frame, very clean and well thought out with all the extras supplied for Di2 routing etc that makes a change

Cheers for the kind words :) Luckily we had no issues onshoring these 😅😅

We were out testing the Wideangle at Glentress tonight, it’s a hoot so your Rootdown should be a hootandablast 🚲

Yes she is using a reduced offset Fox 34, I run that shop up there but have little control over what she rides except suggesting bikes and helping with spec. She went from an OG Smuggler alu like you, and the bike did come out lighter, and as I said she absolutely loves the geo. Boost conversion kit for the wheels and a new set of forks.
The best value reduced offset 140mm forks are the DVO Sapphire 34s, 140mm max travel, volume/rebound/high+low speed compression adjustment and 44mm offset.
I think a bundle with a 2018 Smuggler carbon frame come out at about £2700-2799. Ish. On a train so just guessing.

She is running 2.35 new style HDs and we live in Scotland so it gets muddy, clearance is tight but fine, no wear or paint damage.

A nice set of Hunt Trail Wide wheels with that frameset would save 400g :)

27.5+ fits the new Smuggler Carbon great, I have test fitted my Rekon 2.8 on 40mm rim and there is bags of clearance all round. BB drop is in line with loads of other 29/27+ bikes as well so pedal strikes shouldn’t be a major issue. Nothing to stop you running it 150mm front or using an extended lower headset cup either if you did want to boost the BB.

Also, depending on your frame size there are still a few carbon smuggler frames left from 2018, and some decent bundles to be done on the fork to go with it.
My girlfriend totally loves hers, and it has made her a visibily faster rider as well.

Worth noting that Raceface chainline is 52mm, and currently Shimano boost is 54mm, so that gives you extra wiggle room. But as above, if you are using bigger than a 32t on a 160mm 29er, you are doing the bikes wrong 😅

Also not really noticed any tyre clearance issues, all of ours have been built Wide Trail Maxxis or 2.35 Schwalbe, new HD etc. You won’t get a 2.6″ in though.

Biased but.. Tiny bit more but lots of lovely – I brought some Chromag Wideangles over from Canada, and Rootdowns arriving next week. The Wideangle is 27.5 and takes a 140/150mm fork, light frame with nice skinny stays. And they have bears on. Building our test bike over the weekend if I get the time :D

£749 but plenty of cheap build kit parts to clear and offset the extra spend 😀

I have tested with Thriva a few times, it’s much more useful than going to see a GP. It’s faster and the results are translated and well laid out, vs the GP that said to my mate ‘if we don’t call you you are fine’ or you forgot. Or lost it.

If you can afford it then go for it. Super quick and results in a few days. If there is anything really wrong they will just send you to the GP anyway.

I had very low vit D despite spending long as possible outside. Also low B12 and some early indicators of liver problems, which was a surprise as a ‘moderate’ (25 units a week) drinker at 33.

Now getting more tests through the GP after going dry to rule out any weird causes

Ahhh Graham! To be fair he was one of the first people to bring mountain bikes into the UK full stop. Marin I think in the early 80’s?

But yes, he was easily wound up on here and a lot of people pushed buttons. Back in the full on TJ bullying era as well

I have ridden a P7 29er with 27+ for the last year or so. It has been ace.

40mm internal rims, 3″ High Roller front and 2.8 Rekon rear. Now running the same setup on my Stage 5 it’s a great tyre combo

Does “selling” require that the bike be delivered, or just that money changes hands?

I don’t think Sick have that big a hold on the industry

I don’t know why they deal in USD. There is no mention of bank fees, is that something you only get with credit cards? Customers paying us from outside the EU have been able to pay us in GBP and get the exact amount showing on our statement with no fees at our end with bank transfers. The people we are buying off charge $50 if we pay by bank transfer.

Is it worth getting a credit card for this? Do the charges work differently to debit cards? We have run the busniess for better or worse with no credit for over eight years. I am aware that we may be missing out on all sorts of miles/points/whatever but I am also aware I can’t be trusted with money that doesn’t exist. If it makes a difference to the fees on this we could pick one up.

Sapphires for sure – the quality on the new boost D1 stuff is stunning. Worth it just to actually get the integrated mudguard not just the holes like with a fox. Anywhere from 100mm to 140.

Get a Shug, they will do you the sizing you want, it’s light, the geo is spot on, and you can have lovely paint.

Failing that, wait until later in the year when I have 2019 Rootdowns available in the UK. Missed the first batch but more arriving soon. Wideangles landing soon 😜

Where are you based? I rather like 29ers and have built quite a few demo bikes.. So, if you can make it to Edinburgh/Tweed Valley we have a Stage 5 medium, Sentinel Carbon large, Rallon large and a Rallon XL as well.

I have been riding the Stage 5 last few days and love it, actually way more than I thought I would. Super fast and light, and insanely capable especially with the 27+ wheelset fitted.

Everyone that rides a Sentinel falls in love, as does anyone that rides a Rallon.
