Sorry I know Doug, it’s me James. Just thought you might want to see it, from what you can tell in the video it seems like they rated the ride very well if not better than the Evil. Which does also look like a great bike, if it holds together. But I don’t want to get into that, it has already been covered.

Their review of the Phantom was also really positive.

Depends if she prefers nice food or salt and oil with a level of pretension.

Lots of the latter in Edinburgh.

See Three Birds/Bia Bistro/The Dogs for some of the former.

Just out of interest what’s the beef with scree slopes? Are they a special habitat? The ones I have poked around on near Innerleithen seemed to be only home to a mix of small to medium rocks.

Just to be clear – the Smuggler does pedal REALLY well, a bit better than the Phantom, but there are other things like the adjustable geo, very durable ano finish, and the speed you can carry downhill with the DB Inline that make me love my Phantom. Then again the Smuggler is £130 cheaper.

I am just going to buy one at less than trade from a german website.

Been running 29×2.25 Beavers front and rear since June (they are great in dry loam). Just smashed a hole in my rear Beaver (ohh err) so switching the front to the back and sticking a 29×2.30 Shorty on the front. Also tempted by the 29×2.5 Minions front AND rear as I have one of the only bouncy frames that will take them (Banshee Phantom).

My guess the MBR review would be about the off the peg bike. The frame deserves better. It’s not a BAD build, but can be so much nicer. We built this to show it off – Eccentric custom[/url]

I wish, they look great. If I didn’t already have this years bouncy bike it would be top of the list with a change of tyres.

Instead I am having to ‘make do’ with an ARC Carbon (medium so 29″) with Kinesis rigid forks and a Reverb stealth ‘mod’

    Should have it finished today!

We have them on an SB5c demo bike, they seem light and set up tubeless really easily with the pre fitted tape. In light round the block testing they feel good. In a few months I will have smacked them off some rocks and will find out how strong they are..

The stooge always attracts beards, in fact even the owner was clean shaven before purchase.

We found the cafe ace both times, but then again there were only three of us, and we know how to charm the ladies*

Hell yeah. Were you there yesterday? We were in the afternoon. A Phantom, Stooge and an FF29.

It’s a great place, and you are right about the development, we were last there in March or April and the extra sections opened since then are fantastic.

Weird lack of signage for the ‘old’ lower red and black bits though.

We rode some nice new Glendevon trails in the morning, then went to Comrie after. A great way to split the day. Morning was supposed to be Ben Vorlich, but we aren’t that stupid. It wasn’t really munro weather…

The whisle stop is dead to us now. It’s for the CTC riders.

The new coffee shop is enduro specific, and the coffee is loads better.

For daytime food and coffee there is a new cafe on the trail centre road junction, it’s amazing. Great coffee and great food.

Pub grub the pub next to icycles or go in to peebles for an indian, or I think there is a place called the sunflower if you like food that tastes nice.

Oh yeah Thornylee… that one that’s like pro spacker but covered in rocks. Slippy, slippy wet rocks.

The Phantoms are amazing! I have one of the pre release frames and have been riding it since the start of June I think. It is a really fast really versatile bike, super low standover and really well balanced geo.

Interested to hear what position people are running their frames in now they have been out a while? I started off neutral then went steepest when I had a long ride to do and haven’t switched back. Found it a little more poppy and nimble without losing much in confidence and stability.

If it was these Spitfire frames you were looking at:

    Spitfires

We also have Phantom frames in stock and rolling chassis offers, get in touch if you want to find out more. We also have a Phantom demo bike available so if you can make it to Edinburgh test away.

Loads of Phantom pictures over on our facebook as well:

My Phantom is honestly one of the best bikes I have ever ridden. Now if only they would listen to us and make a carbon version…

Riding a Scout.. fnar fnar! Must be tired this week as I didn’t think of that one. It’s a keeper though.

It will be interesting to ride one, I know what you mean about the poppy jumpy feeling, I spent most of last year on a 120mm Bandit 29 and it was such a fun bike, far faster on it than I deserved to be! Now on a Banshee Phantom which is pretty much the same feeling but better pedalling with the KS link VP design.

I am quietly confident that they will be ace, Lars n Bars doesn’t ride bad bikes ;)

The Covert replacement is the Patrol – perhaps it looks more like a Transition once they have written Transition on it? ;)

    2015 Transition Patrol

There will be four bikes sharing the new linkage and frame design, a 155mm 27.5 Patrol, the one above, a Bandit replacement called the Scout with 125mm rear wheel travel, a Bandit 29 replacement called the Smuggler that has 115mm travel, and finally…. a 26″ wheeled version of the Patrol called the Suppressor.

Shorter travel frames with have a Monarch and be £1400, longer travel frames will have a Monarch Plus and be £1500. Simple :)

We really like them and can’t wait.

Do the FC work on Sundays? We usually try and avoid closed sections.. it’s a delicate balance we as cyclists play with the forest workers, if too many people piss them off they make it harder for centres to be open while work goes on, like last year when people were still riding pro spacker at Inners while the workers were around.

But if they aren’t around to see…

Are any of the trails damaged?

Cheers for the heads up with Dalbeattie

Gleneagles 40mins. Edinburgh 50mins on the bike traffic free, most regular train service to Edinburgh of anywhere. Quickest is 10 mins to Haymarket. Most 16-20. Interesting locals. Own museum.

    Inverkeithing rocks.
This house has trails to the back door, as well as what looks like a ‘free for the taking’ outbuilding, if you can be bothered to rebuild it.

In answer to the OP… forks yes, anyone can service them and buy all of the correct spares/seals.

Rear shocks everything except air cans/air can seals/bushings etc are Mojo only.

Anyone other than Mojo doing a full service on a rear shock is either not changing the seals, fitting generic bearing-shop type seals, or getting cheeky backhand shipments from Mojo.

The Phantom is expected June as stated. I pestered them so much I managed to grab one of the pre-release magazine-review batch for myself. After spending last year on a Bandit 29 the slightly better pedalling Phantom looks perfect for me.

Keep an eye on our Facebook etc around the end of April for loads of pictures and gushing words of happiness (hopefully).

We will be taking pre orders soon as well, on the proviso that June may become July. But they say June for sure ;)

You could always twin it with a Scottish road trip :)
