From the Fishers site regarding 29 Boost Pikes:

    “SPECIFICATIONS
    Wheel size 26″, 27.5″, 29″, 29″/27.5″+”

    Just saying :D

Still though, chances are they were just a dick.

They spec a 170 for 2016, and rightly so. It was pretty low last year, same on the Smuggler. I ran 140mm forks on my Smuggler and 170 cranks, then it was perfect. Even on the stock 130mm fork/175 crank demo bike it was fine except pedalling over rough stuff. In a way I would have preferred it if they kept it low and just specced longer forks. Half a degree slacker never hurt anyone :D

But the crux of it is – unless you are riding an XL you shouldn’t really be on 175s anyway. I have no idea how it became some kind of ‘mountain bike standard’.

Well, except a Transition TransAM 18″ is a Large, which is 443.
Medium has a seat tube of 16.5″

Doesn’t excuse the Bigwig for not having an XL though to give options for taller riders. I will keep the pressure on them…

The reach in Medium is on the long side, same as a TransAM 29 and most ‘longer’ hardtails, but the Large is shorter than a TransAM and no XL (yet) so it depends how tall you are.

Also it’s super slack, so if you stick a big reach on it + the slack HA the wheelbase would go crazy long, which some people might be into but on the whole I think the majority would find it slow and ponderous. I would love to see an XL though, and drop the XS size if needed.

The 100hrs may be accurate for full servicing, but Monarch air cans need regular loving. Quick and easy to do, but it DOES need doing far more often than Fox air cans.

No need to wait on a Patrol, they are in stock and ready to ship :D

We have a few sizes and colours ready to go (for once)… If you can get near Edinburgh we also have a demo bike so you could find out how good they are for yourself.

Sure we could find a way to get under budget for you as well.

I wish I could ride it, got a build 1 kit as well and the wait is killing me, but not as much as the nerve pain!

Been out on the demo bike a few time and it’s a hoot. Alu or carbon, for those that are waiting it’s going to be worth it.

Oh yeah I forgot that one.. for anyone else that is looking we have a medium blue Patrol carbon in, on display just now. It’s supposed to be mine but injury is forcing a lack of gnarr, so I don’t mind waiting until Feb for the next batch.

New lower modulus Yeti ASR is £3400, so slightly more affordable. Great bikes, I have an ASRc, just building one for my girlfriends 12/24hr racing and we have another doing the Highland Trail 550 this year as well.

Some sizes and colours of a few bikes are delayed a bit longer but most are in. For anyone looking to order we have med and large Scouts and Patrols ready to ship, but only medium Smugglers.

More aggressive than an ardent, WTB Trailboss 2.4. More rad still, pop a Vigilante on the front. The Trailbosses are great tyres though.

    I don’t know what an X-B06 is :D

I got an inbred 29 frame, it came in a messy damaged box, with no frame packing, covered in scratches and with a squashed dropout, with the stickers on from being returned from another shop already.

Replaced very quickly with a new one, that was packaged really well in the right sized box.

I am interested to hear if any UK shops have managed to get Raleigh to take an order, trying to spend money with them seems impossible. Perhaps easier if you already sell their bikes.

We could very well just be being ignored because we are idiots, this is fine.

Yeah, the £2339 is just for the frame part. Although you can have these old 26″ Mavic wheels and a set of naff old Manitous for free if you want ;) Not much use mind.

A more usual rolling chassis offer would be frame £2339, Fox 36 FIT4 £756, hand built DT350/Easton ARC30 wheels £399.
But seeing as a 6.2lb race frame isn’t light enough then just get the alu version for £1395 instead. :D

    1.5lb sounds better

Agreed, SC warranty is great. The Evil is £2800 with a Monarch and a warranty you might have to use

    I know! It’s an OUTRAGE!

Personally as someone with a penis I found the Carbon Covert more offensive than the Plastic Patrol

    pigyn

Well, you COULD buy a frame/fork/wheelset combo and get it for £2339 ;)

TR warranty is 2 years, which is a bit shorter than some but we have been doing them for over four years and the very few problems that have come up were resolved very quickly. Solid bikes, and good backup.

Frames are £2599, so towards the cheaper end of carbon frame only enduro machines these days. Still not cheap mind, but cheaper than an Evil Insurgent/SB6c/Nomad etc

The Bigwig and Zealous MK2 are both really nice frames. Bigwig takes a B+, Zealous is lighter. Both would be tons of fun!

Details JUST released even though we have a demo bike and customers already riding :D

We weighed to medium frames minus seat clamp and axle as per ‘the rules’ and got 6.22lb for the raw and 6.38 for the blue, so both quite a bit lighter than the 6.5 quoted which is nice. Really tidy frames.

I am supposed to be riding our demo over the xmas break but injury is holding me back just now, fingers crossed to get a few in.

Kinesis Sync is available in 650b if small or medium. Not much good if he’s tall..

I would do a Bigwig at 120 (if your forks can’t be raised) but only because I have fondled them and they are lovely. I am guessing your point about the external cup is that you don’t have a tapered steerer so would lose another 10mm using an inset up? Just fit a crown race adapter then a lower cup for 44mm tapered. Then if you upgrade forks in the future no need to change headset. They sell the frames as being 120/130/140.

But mainly that blue….. it’s lovely..

The new Ragley Bigwig is just out and looks ace. I had my eye on the Chromags for stocking in my shop but they were a little too steep both in HA and price, lovely though. Found out about the Ragleys and ordered those, they arrive on Monday. The Last looks ace as well but can’t take a 27.5×3.0 tyre if that’s an issue for the future, while the Bigwig can. On the other hand the Last comes in XL if you are tall. It’s a good time to be looking at fun 29 hardtails!

And I bet your wife agrees just fine ;)

Seriously though, if all the people like CTBM and yourself ben could just leave the bike trade to people that don’t know how to do anything else. WE DON’T HAVE A FALL BACK PLAN OR OTHER SKILLS.
