I have a pair of Huit, they are ace. They were bought in a seconds sale although I can’t tell what is supposed to be wrong with them.
They were supposed to be a special smart pair but they got dried with a crease after their first wash. Very obvious line down the middle. Our bad, but it won’t go away.. so now they are my everyday jeans and are better than ever now they are wearing in a little 😀

I am riding the Pony Rustler with 3″ Rangers at the moment, it’s freekin ammaaaazinnngggg.

The frames are £1999 which seems like stunning value for a 5.7lb carbon with Monarch, plus it rides ace. Fact.

We have an offer on Horsetheif frames (same thing, but black with a blue stripe) for £1699.

Or for something cheaper a medium mint Banshee Phantom, new frame, used Monarch with Debonair upgrade, £900.

I have quite a soft spot for 29ers and B+ squish monsters.

Aiming to have the salsas up online later today – Pedals Bike Care

Plenty of Phantom and Pony Rustler pictures up on our facebook page as well.

Ours just arrived for the shop, we backed them out of curiosity and for something nice to play with.

One is coming home with me for ‘testing’, but the other is available to rent from us at Pedals in Edinburgh.

£50 for a weekend, or if you buy a bike/frame we might just let you borrow it for the setup free of charge, if you are nice.

Can’t wait to see what it makes of my 120mm 3″ tyred hardtail

Eh bob? The chonicles are quite a loose fit on the stock wheels. Once the bead is broken away from the sidewall you shouldn’t even need a tyre lever.

We are now renaming them Orza 😀

A large is the same reach as a medium Patrol, which is quite long.

I rode a medium Patrol and it was great, I now ride a medium Loki which is just as fast downhill, fits great. I have ridden a large in anger as well over a full day and it was nice too, a bit more stable but less agile for me.

As noted, very low standover and upsizing not an issue.

If your mate is anywhere near Edinburgh we have a demo bike. In fact, my one was a demo as well before I fell in love and stole it :p

It isn’t even a real trail, just a rock off to the side of a walkers path. The internet is a web of lies.

Why is a Spearfish ‘ridiculously expensive new’?
Very light carbon frame for £1999? Compared to most other frame only carbon bikes that are £2500-£3000?

Although, at 120 you are after the Horsetheif or Pony Rustler frame. Again, £1999 and such good fun. I have been riding one with 27+ setup and it’s phenomenal. Very impressed! Should make an equally great 29er. We weighed a stock frame at 5.75lbs with shock. If you are looking second hand then steer clear of anything pre split pivot, they aren’t the same bikes.

My girlfriend has been riding our Orbea Occam demo and says it’s everything her Smuggler is but lighter. Frame only for these is £2399, full bike with carbon frame from £3100.

If you aren’t fussed about carbon then Smugglers are amazing, super super fun and very fast!
    It’s a great time to be into 29ers :p

Picture of me loving the Pony Rustler/Horsetheif:

I would expect it’s a mix of very high leverage ratio frames and peoples obsession with volume tuning stuffing.

I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t use one offset bushing at the front, the rear uses a wishbone.
In that facebook picture we are using a 2.5 front tyre as well, easily another 10mm of height by eyeball making it theoretically 67deg.

Review from my girlfriend – ‘everything that’s great about my Smuggler but light as ****’ !

We have a couple of options we can hold at pre-brexit pricing as well making them a few hundred cheaper 😀

    Orbea Occam TR – https://www.orbea.com/gb-en/bicycles/occam-tr-m10

Get it with the 34mm fork upgrade, stick in a 130mm air shaft giving 67.5 HA. Seat tube is 20mm longer than you ask for but at least you can slam even long droppers. Think a 150mm Fox goes right down to the collar, and they are long posts.

Put though the radification engine it looks like this:

Light as a light thing as well.

    Sorry about the facebook link!

Whitestone – if you can run the 3″ WTBS try switching to Chronicles, they really are better all round! Even on wet stuff :p Much faster on the road as well.

To the people saying they are rubbish in deep mud, why not try changing your riding to suit the conditions.. you know, like we used to do before new trails got ruined at the first sign of rain 😀

Although in your defence, I rode WTB bridger and trailboss combo and came away very unimpressed. Chronicles much better, everywhere. Weird because they look like a semi slick..

I dare say hora 3″ tyres might help your stuff stop breaking, it has certainly reduced my puncture levels.

I think we need a strava off. OP please post some impressive times for us to coo over.

I would go for racing but work saturdays so that’s unfair :p

Erm.. that’s not really what the red bit is for! One side is reverse threaded so you use it to join to outer cables or hoses together.

So, if you want to do your reverb and brake without losing connection:

A section of gear inner through the white guide tube
    Remove white guide tube
Scrap section of gear outer over inner cable
    Remove inner cable
Use red bit to join brake hose or reverb hose to outer cable
    Pull hose through frame
    Undo red thing
    Reconnect your brake lever/reverb remote.

Oil will not drop out of your hose unless you undo the other end.
Read the shimano and rockshox guides for hose shortening before you go ahead.
Oh and if you are fitting old parts make sure the hoses are long enough for your new frame before you bother with the above!

You are likely trying to turn it the one way. Both sides of that is one bolt, so to undo it using the outside socket turn it clockwise as you are looking at it.

Get a Loki they are amazing!
If you can get to Edinburgh we have a demo bike. I liked our old demo so much I stole it before anyone else rode it, then ordered another one for the shop. I say don’t bother with steel for 3″ tyres, what’s the point? Compliance you can’t feel through 3″ of squish?
My loki weighs 27.9lbs with vaults and a mudguard, that’s with american classic smoking gun wheelset and Chronicles.

The H10 has been our most popular and is £1500 with SLX M8000. Another good choice would be the cheaper version with NX drive, then do the 34 fork and M8000 brake upgrades from the factory. Then you get better brakes for slightly less than the H10. Just add a dropper after.

I have a lot of love for the loki…

You need a stealthamajig barb and olive, the levers specify only these, and you can’t re-use the olive.

You won’t need to do a full bleed just purge the lever

    Just buy the Patrol.

    *advert engaged*
In fact, if you are a medium buy one of our last Patrol carbon frames at £2599 and get a free full set of Guide Ultimates worth many pennies.

Patrols are lovely but if the shock choice and frame warranty puts you off then the 2017 Rallon X10 is worth looking at, 36 Factory RC2 forks, X2 shock, lifetime warranty and £3590. We have ordered our demo and stock bikes like this, so you get the workhorse XT stuff with the nice suspension.

Edinburgh you are spoiled for nice places to eat.
    Three Birds
    The Dogs
    Hanams
Just seen a new place called Seasons on Broughton Street (5min walk from waverly) that looks fantastic. You just tell them if you are weird with any food and they make you stuff. Fantastic.
Gardeners Cottage also good but more expensive.
    Beer Kitchen for pub grub.
    Or Wings 😀

Railings everywhere. Don’t know about whiskey, spirits are rank.

Yep, you are correct. They are very loose, vastly harder to seat than they used to be. I blame all the people who complained the old ones were too tight..

From what I have been riding going less than 40mm might be a bit narrow, if you are using full 3″ tyres. I have been using chronicles first on Orbeas own 45 internal wheelset and now American Classic Smoking Gun with 40. They are lovely wheels by the way.

Can’t comment on either of those but I had my first ride on a Salsa Pony Rustler last night, very much lots of fun. Really light, pedals great, descends like a weapon 😀

Yes still 26″ wheels if you want, they are still using the ’26 is 29′ dropouts so you can even build yourself a 26″ boost wheel if you want, for all the stiffnesses.
They look lovely, can’t wait for more coverage to come out 😀

Halo vapour 35 rims and either build with Hope hubs or just buy one of the Halo wheelsets. Now available with nice stealth graphics.

    pigyn

It’s not supposed to be. The lever recess is a new shape internally. The stealthamajig olive and barb are a new design.
Brakes come pre assembled and bled, but disconnected. You should get an olive and barb with the brake, along with a red tool that threads the olive on but not the tiny torx key to thread the barb in.

We have been selling them since release and seem great. Setup is easy although I can do a Reverb a bit quicker. Feels lovely to use with nice light action, really helps avoid ‘reverb thumb’. £100 cheaper than a Reverb although prices have just gone up a little.
The base post is a little longer size for size than reverbs BUT unlike RS Fox supply a really nice guide for figuring out what post fits your frame, just google fox transfer size guide or summit.

Both of them, including the one pressed into the top cap?

That would be interesting to get hold of if they work well, having to buy a top cap is a piss take when they are so easy to change.

Perhaps start campaigning for legalisation so they don’t have to buy like that?

Having owned a 2015 Yeti ARC that was amazing, get that, unless you want some added value or a dapper colour matched rigid fork, then get the new Orbea Alma. Very similar geo, you get more stealth dropper choice on the Yeti with its 30.9, the Alma is 27.2 so you are limited to the KS Integra. Drill out the removable cable guides to route 😀

Obviously, your idea of an XC bike might not include a dropper post.
