I ran a 2016 Fox DPS paired with a 2016 Fox 34, shock felt lovely. Not adjustable like the X2 etc but more than the Monarch. Three levels of compression adjustment within the ‘open’ position, plus ‘trail’ and total lockout on top of that.

How’s about carls lane, large sections of it cut out so you can ride a straight line through bog instead. Now mostly fenced off. If you want to ride a straight line, there is a fire road three metres to your left..

It isn’t just the pie run, there are short cuts all over the place and not just at glentress, but it does seem the worst. It has become much, much worse in the last two years.

They are rad, really fun to ride and very dialled spec.

We are doing a ‘pedals special’ on them where we ordered X10s with both the 36 and X2 upgrades, to give you the best suspension without the soopa spensive Eagle on the Team.

Give us a shout for more details, very limited stock available at the better pricing.
Also if you can get to Edinburgh we have a demo bike :p

Mboy have you thought that perhaps grip can come from something other than ‘big spikes?’ Likeeeee a nice round 3″ tyre? Perhaps plus tyres don’t have to be designed like normal tyres…

Coming off a mary/minion setup and now running WTB Ranger 3″ toughs.

Tyre set is the same weight, grip is higher, they roll faster, I am faster. Up and down.
Everything is that last bit is fact.

You see I would say that looks amazing, although the tyres are too narrow

Looking at these for a new house, how big have you gone for smogmonster?

I want one of the ‘8 bike’ size ones (weirdly seem cheaper and 1 foot bigger than the non bike ones) but find a way of mounting a board of hooks for hanging by the front wheel, much better use of space..

When driving and get stopped at lights I just turn the engine off and push it through, start up again on the other side. Easy.

American Classic Smoking Guns are really light and have been great on my Loki and Pony Rustler. Pretty sure carbon wouldn’t be any lighter?

Just noticed you wanted a medium rendering my suggestion of our discounted Spearfish pointless.

Give me a shout with the Pedals contact details if you want information about an Oiz OMP frame on finance, we can do it and they are stunning value with a lifetime warranty.

Butttt why use it? I just have a SFF pc connected to my tv, and use the browser based on demand stuff. Got the blind peoples scaling zoomatron turned up and can read stuff from the sofa easily.

Not being smart just never thought of using anything else

Yes tubeless and yes front and rear. DT XM551s so 40mm internal. They look much narrower than Chronicles but only measure up about 2mm less.

Fantastic grip on mixed terrain and very supportive when pushed hard. 11psi front and 12psi rear.

I have been using the 3″ rangers on my pony rustler and they have been amazing. Much better than the bridger/trailboss combo that I hated

Damascus – it’s mostly brexit. No one in the trade wants higher RRPs, trust me.

We were going to buy a boatload of Traitor cycles into the UK on clearance as we think they would have gone down well at the right price. Went away on holiday to Torridon and all these **** brexited us, over night all of our prices shot up, and suddenly rather than being a cheap option with nice colours they would have been the same price as hundreds of other options, and we just let it drop..

Going to largely keep out of this slagging fest, but just a short word about the Salsa pricing.

Regarding the Fargo/Deadwood etc, don’t forget these are a frameSET and come with a nice fully custom carbon fork. The fork alone does have a mental UK RRP of just under £600, which is insane, but even if you took it as being £400 this means the ‘frame’ part of a Fargo frameset is £500, which is inline with any other steel frame.

Whoever said the Spearfish is overpriced now, shirley you are having a laugh? The carbon frame is £1999.
Same for the Horsetheif, Pony Rustler and Redpoint.
These are really nice high quality carbon frames. Most of my experience is with the Pony Rustler, we weighed MY ‘demo’ frame at 5.7lbs, building it up was spot on and it’s one of the fastest bikes I have ever ridden. It it pretty much a Hightower, that frameset carries an RRP of £2750.

Ignoring the fact we have sale price Horsetheif/Pony Rustler frames for £1650…

A fairer frameset comparison for Salsa would be the Marrakesh with it’s steel fork, but no one will mention that because it’s £450.

Neither, steel is heavy and you can’t feel the spring with 3″ tyres. Buy a Loki. I love my Loki. Ummm… Loki..

But the new Krampus does look ace. If only it was carbon. Or alu. Or ti. Or lighter steel..

Orbea sort of sell a gravel e bike as well, the Keram drop.

    https://www.orbea.com/ie-en/ebikes/keram-asphalt-drop

It’s their older mtb frame, and as such takes fat tyres.

I really wanted to stick some 45 gravel tyres or full 2.25 mtb thingys in, because no one else made a drop bar e mtb.. and now I guess I don’t have to

I have owned or spent a lot of time on – TR Bandit 29, Banshee Prime, Banshee Phantom, Smuggler, Occam TR, Horsetheif/Pony Rustler.. so lots of fun 29ers.

Also a lot of last year on a carbon Patrol, which was also amazing despite being my only non 29er in years. All that travel was a hoot and I got the weight down to 28.5lbs.

    pigyn

The Occam TR is pretty much a carbon Smuggler (that said, I can’t wait for a carbon Smuggler..). Check the figures. Lifetime warranty, carbon full bikes from £3438 (by the time you have factory upgraded the forks to 34mm).

They still come at 120mm but I just popped a 130mm air shaft in. 0.5degree steeper HA than the Smuggler, but otherwise very similar.

    Orbea Occam or Salsa Horsetheif…

    Salsa Horsetheif Frame[/url]

I have been riding it a lot set up with the 27.5×3″, makes a fantastic big mountain bike, equally nice with a set of 29er wheels in there :p

5.75lb carbon frame for £1699, not sure what the extra £1000 gets you on a Hightower except branding, this thing is damn fast.

We are quite clued up on insulation and damp management already, current house is also old..

Was just wondering if a few hundred quid and some tech could make life easier at all. The sort of thing you kick yourself later for not putting in when you had the chance..
