Great bikes!

We – pedals bike care – have frames on offer as well and can usually beat crc. We have a stock custom build very similar to the NS full bike @ £1750, but with nicer wheels. Can also go full custom obviously.

Also selling my light use ex demo medium full build for £950 to fund the purchase of a Rondo Ruut CF2.

Also see the Rondo Ruut AL on our site, these are expected 3 weeks ish and are a refined version of the RAG.

Orbea have a new bike called the Gain coming out in a few weeks, I think it could be quite popular as a boosted commuter.

The new Orbea Occam TR would be a solid bet, all the key bits are within a few mm of a Smuggler, 2018 version has all the changes we made ourselves to last years demo bike. Fox 34s at 130mm, wider rims etc. 4.5k would buy you a bling spec carbon with full lifetime warranty. Really, really nice bikes.
TR need to hurry up and make me a carbon smuggler or I will end up with one of these or a 2018 Rocky Mountain Instinct.

You say XL Santa Cruz, what sort of reach are you looking for? We have one last 2017 Occam – 2017 Occam TR M10

Spec on the alu version is pretty much the same as the RAG+ stock build, couple of small changes.

Yes, I poked them about frameset prices as well and got £999 for steel and £1700 for carbon but they will lag a fair bit behind the full bikes based on past experience with NS.

£1099, as stock except tubeless conversion and upgraded bar tape. Few months use in dry weather, as new condition!

Yeah I saw that icycles bagged one of the few demo bikes yesterday, our days off didn’t line up 🙁

Just in case anyone is interested, we went to see the new Rondos on Tuesday and now have UK pricing:

Rondo Bikes

They look really nice, all three frame materials seem great and bring something different to the table. Alu is a neater version of the NS Rag with improved cable routing, the steel has anything cage mounts on the down tube and is one of the first steel/carbon fork combos that looks really good, however the round tubing reduces tyre clearance a little. You can still run a 700x42ish and a 27.5×2.1. The carbon version is very neat in person, the kinked top tube looks great and gives loads of room for frame bags. Plus is has MASSIVE tyre clearance, with a think 700×57! or 27.5×2.2 possibly more. Could easily be run with XC 29er tyres, 2.1/2.2ish.

Anyone want to buy my medium RAG+ so I can get a CF2??

2017 NS Eccentric cromo if you want lighter than anything and cheaper than most. Or save more money and weight by going with the alu version. But then it isn’t steel.

The new Kinesis has one of those two bolt ‘clasp’ hangers that has caused loads of bother on the Vitus bikes and looks like an easy way to write off a frame.. but otherwise looks great.

In a shop of four people we have 100% RAG+ ownership. Two in stock 700×40 guise inc mine and two running 650bx2.2ish. One on Ikons and one on Thunder Burts. We took mine + Thunder burts for 110k of fife coastal path yesterday, it was ace.

All stock builds are sold out but we are custom building to a bit above stock level for a few quid more.

Really really fun bikes and the Apex 1 has been great.

Taken a 58 plate from 23,000 to 110,000 and last week dropped it off with we buy any car for a mighty £350. It was great, never left us stranded but had repeated glow plug issues that were eventually solved. I think we did injectors as well. Various bits of exhaust changed. Good mpg and nice to drive in the multijet diesel version we had. Hit a deer a few years ago then drove into a bollard, writing off a door/more. Combined with 7 years of bike transport, rough roads, trail centre carparks…

We have loads at planet Pedals just now as have become a little obsessed! Plenty of deals to boot, zealous frames for peanuts that take a 2.8, ex demo orbea loki frame @ £200, new loki frame @ £300. Along with NS Djambo Evos for the slackness at £270, or steel version at £500.

Get an NS Djambo Evo and save £250 towards the build kit. Amazing frames, for the money or otherwise, and spot on geo..

The frame hanging up in our shop gets more attention than nearly anything else, and it’s £280, sitting next to £3000 full sus frames!

I swear there was a thread talking about the NS RAG+ but all I can find is the space c****en thing, and I ain’t givin them no lovin.

In case anyone is interested, I now have about 100km of mixed tarmac/singletrack/gravel/rock gardens on my RAG and it’s ace. Riding it totally stock after a wee tubeless setup. The 42/42 is a bit steep for the more mountain bike type terrain but suits the gravelly things perfectly. Very much just a lovely evolution of the Pro6 it replaced.

On the magic other thread people were talking about it not having mudguard mounts, it does. Front and rear full length mudguard mounts, just on the inside where you can’t see them.

The rag is the same as the alu Rutt, so bring on the carbon version!

Northwind – the new updated IFP is a much tighter fit, blue plastic flanged thing rather than the metal with o-ring setup. Next time you need to do it pop into pedals and I can sell you a new one for a grand £5. Then you can waste less of your life servicing reverbs.

My head says carbon, heart says steel..

The NS RAG is £1650 so the alu should be close to that.

I can’t believe this just dropped off with no comments, I think they look ace. We are waiting for the NS Rag+ in the shop which is essentially the alu version minus the adjustable fork. Only found this thread as I was poking around for more pictures.

Don’t buy any o-rings for the IFP. Throw it in the bin and fit an upgraded one from the B1 version. It does a much better job of being an IFP.

.I say ‘suffering’ as lack of grip is standard form in winter so everyone is suffering…however, what I have noticed us a much shallower tread mark showing they have more float.

This is what I find. Running chronicles and rangers on my two bikes, generally riding natural trails within an hour of Edinburgh, mainly Fife, Dunkeld and Tweed Valley. For most stuff, they grip way more so when you do lose it then the feeling is very jarring. Everything slips. The last ride I had at blairadam on a Mary/Minion combo was sketchy and lethal, I would rather have been on the chronicles and they are the ‘worst’ for mud going on internet chat.

Your second point about not cutting in, I have noticed this and like it. I leave noticeably less trail damage now. Especially things like soaking wet grass (hello ochills!) where you would think the chronicles would flounder they grip like velcro and leave far less damage.

Quite a few of the older square ‘deore’ type pad calipers leak.

Calipers that use the newer pad design are less prone to leaking but have lever issues. Take your pick :p

Ach. BnQ ovolo looks close from a distance. The only skirting Beatsons do looks to be that shape, and they are just up the road so likely came from there. Will just buy whats closest, if I can get near sure we can live with it. Cheers!

We are indeed and we even just built up a new Prime demo bike, come full circle since the first banshee demo! Proper fun machine, very capable.

See also Salsa Horsetheif/Pony Rustler for something less aggressive than the Prime, sits very well alongside the Phantom/Smuggler etc. I am currently running on with 27×3″ tyres and it’s very very fast

Horsethief Frame

Also got an offer full build medium at £2999 in carbonz

And I have spelt Horsethief wrong ALL over our website, which I am sure helps with SEO

The DPS is a total re-design, none of the wallowy nonsense of untuned CTD things. It was a medium compression tune rather than the stock soft tune, which suited my riding well.
Great shock, and the upgrade was cheap compared to sticking on a fancy adjustable one.
