I have ridden a new shape Element for over a year, have it built up with 30mm Wide Lightenings (RIP AC) and a 2.6 Nobby Nic at the front, then used the geometry adjustments to bring the seat and head angle back to steep. Rides great, lots of fun and coveres ground well. We like doing big loops with fun downhills and it’s perfect. In my shop the element was our best selling Rocky last year, plenty of build ranging from fast to fun. Mine sits at the fun end @ 26lbs inc pedals.

However, I have just ordered one of the new 2019 Oiz, lured in by the lighter weight and custom colours. Went for the 120/120 Trail version, will be getting the American Classic wheels and big front tyre. Current eta for delivery is early Jan, with SOME Oizs arriving Novemberish.

So if anyone wants a used medium Element 😅

In the classic ‘not answer your question’ style I actually use a generic insert to convert my 15mm front wheel to QR on my Big Bro. Works with any 15×100 hub and costs about a tenner. Use a Shimano QR and it’s rock solid.

Bike is really fun, light and great to ride, few pictures on my shops instagram:

We are also doing 10% off any Brother frame or bike for the rest of July 🙂 Can chuck you in a QR adapter as well if needed. Really pleased with mine.

There is a secret replacement freehub body that runs on bushings for people that munch through them. Truth.

Use the new flangeless seals and the gold oil, they are a great combo and have done a lot to increase the service intervals. No reason at all not to use them. 😃

Rondo Ruut ST takes a decent size tyre, rated to 42 but got clearance for more, usual caveats apply. Also lovely abd light especially for a production steel frame.

The recent 2016+ ones have been great, really nice quality. I heard a rumour new ones were designed but the correct sacrifices have not been made to the wiggle shareholder gods.

Your bike brand does not offer correct level of return, goodbye.

I like em, think they look rad. Got nerve problems in my hands and long off road cx rides make it flair up, looking at a set of these. The frameset they sell where the fork part is colour matches makes it look a lot less wonky.

Don’t listen to the haters 😅

Wot he said. Your coil forks will still have a damper.

This is something that has been messed with a lot so slightly OT.. But my idea for the SRAM board meeting was short taper steerers, to build stubby head tubes for long travel 29ers. So existing tapered forks wouldn’t fit. But now it’s on trend to have your bars sky high I don’t think they will go for it.

As a Transition dealer I had no idea until I saw it on Pinkbike. That MAY just be because I can’t be trusted. I can’t. Other dealers may have been well aware

We have dismantled our Pony Rustler demo but I have ridden it as my personal bike for a year, happy to help with any questions on sizing or ride quality. Get in touch through the shop if you want to chat. Also got one last of the nice colour in our clearance deals:

Salsa Pony Rustler Frame

Might help reduce the blow of buying blind. You wouldn’t regret it though, the bike is a hoot!

Just to make that a bit clearer it isn’t only Charlie selling Salsa, any dealer that has or wants to set up an account with QBP can do. He sort of has the jump on us as everything was already in place, whereas I am still waiting for my application to be processed. But we are still very keen on Salsa at Pedals!

You should buy that wheelset, they are really good. I am pretty gutted, we have quite a few of their wheelsets in the house and rate them highly, hopefully someone buys them out/the designs. I run the ‘Smokin Gun’ wheelset, stupid name great wheels.

The RAG is indeed a slightly less posh Rondo Ruut, you lose the adjustable fork but still get a decent fixed position one, and the cable routing is external. The Ruut is also available in steel and carbon that meant I could upgrade my RAG to a posh carbon Ruut, both have been really nice! The RAG has become our staff go-to bike, we are all team rag. Except me. I have a posh carbon Rondo 😆

At my shop we have a couple of RAG framesets left, one medium and one large and I have just updated stock and reduced the price – Pedals Bike Care Rag+ Frameset Saturday web updates funtimes.

Early in the year NS suffered some QC issues with a few frames coming few wonky/dropped or scratched in the factory etc. We check every frame and bike that comes in (regardless of brand) and both the RAG frames we have left have been signed off as good. Later in the year things got much better, in fact our last delivery not a single one was rejected, and the Rondos (NS sister company) have all been spot on.

Any shop that doesn’t check stuff like that doesn’t deserve to sell nice bikes :p

Who is just box shipping stuff without opening and setting up properly? We even make stuff tubeless as well free of charge. Might explain why we don’t make much money

That bible of bike test is great to see, nice that they are getting press over the pond. Also nice to see the pricing being on the other foot, with them being pretty spendy in the usa, and a total bargain over here.

We were lucky enough to order quite a few stock bikes and even have a couple left, got one S/M and one Large ready to ship. They are both stock M10s but we are happy to play with upgrades :p

Pedals Rallon Stock

Appologies for posting that again, but I know people are looking for these and we can struggle with visability.

Also had a few MyO orders come through now, the finishing is really good. Big smiles all round, fun bike!

cheers for the support colin :p
If the forum was easier to use I could even post the pictures showing it..

It’s only slight, but enough. A bit of filing on the caliper would sort it, less than a mil. But that’s not our place. And it shouldn’t be needed.

Both the new hope brake and a new XT are too far out, no idea what was fitted to it first and if it had been modified, or was just on the other side of tolerance.

Wasn’t this just like those ti on-ones 😀

Agreed, great review Doug.

I was supoosed to have written a mini shop review for Pedals by now, the demo bike has been here for months and it’s been booked for demos every single weekend, I have only managed to take it out once!
Don’t think in the last six years we have been doing demo bikes something has been tested this many times. 29ers have come a long way, traditionally they would only be tested by me!

Hardtailonly – the Rondo are priced for full bikes, and are a little cheaper than they should be as a pre order special.

The Alu Ruut is the same frame as the RAG+, same owners. I have been riding the RAG for a few months but sold it on to fund the carbon cf2. Didn’t find the ride harsh at all, including some 100k+ very mixed terrain rides.

Their website is nearly ready, or at least there is a catalog link with nice pictures at http://www.rondo.cc

The Fargo is really nice as well if you want a bit more monster than cross, I have done a few really nice builds on them this year, some have travelled a very long way since!

Not a light build going on there, pretty much the polar opposite of the stock build or what you would aim for with the SDW!

2017 NS Eccentric Cromo – just built one for myself in 27.5+ but the stock 29er is ace. Small/Med/Large in stock and if you give us a call at the shop – Pedals Bike Care

We can do £1299 as that was going to be my clearance price if we ever had time to list them online.

How tall are you?

I have one last 2017 Occam 29er in the basement:

Occam 29 M10

It’s a large, can do it for £2999 as a STW special, new and unused with lifetime frame warranty. Very light and a whole lot of fun.

If you have a carbon one then answer number 1 is correct, it’s a bolt on adapter that your brake (+ I think a front 180 adapter) go onto. I can’t remember if they are direct to 180 or not.

If you have an alu frame then answer number 2 is correct, and something else is up.

An Oiz would be ideal! A lot of people happily race 10-24hrs on hardtails, a lot depends what sort of condition you are in flexible/core etc. Even if you can handle it, a full sus would be a better call.
Alma to save the cash or get custom colours, Oiz for comfort at the expense of cost.

New Orbea Gain, what I will be commuting on in a few months. Looks normal, takes a decent size tyre, light weight and low resistance motor so above the 24kmph limit you can actually ride it.

The Ruut is a slightly tidier frame, some internal cable routing and nicer finishing. A lot comes down to if you prefer the brushed off red with pinkish details on the alu Ruut vs the stealthy black RAG. And if you want a frame only or not.

I am getting a Ruut because I want the carbon one :p

12mm front is the new road standard, NS kept the RAG 15mm so you can use your old mountain bike wheels as a spare set, perfect for all those narrow rimmed 2.1 27.5 XC race wheels that are only good for the bin otherwise 😆

Not got a large here just now to measure but will try and post it later.

There are two fork versions, the full bike came with a wider fork that has stealth internal mudguard eyelets, these are the ones that don’t look like they have any.

The framesets come with a slightly slimmer fork where the hose guide tube exits internally so it looks neater, but means the mudguard mounts have to be traditionally positioned.

Forgot to say, that stock custom can be either 700×40/whatever or 27.5×2.2 for the same price. We have been using both in the shop.
