Exactly the same thing happened to me yesterday morning.Got a confirmation email from Paypal but nowt from Deal Extreme. I used the general contact email form to ask if my order was confirmed and could they provide an order number, but it says it can take a while to get a response.

If anyone gets a response, could they post about it here?

"I'd forgotten just how scary the Belmont descent is in the dark though. Proper arse-twitching. Fun listening to the screams coming from behind from Iain, who'd never ridden it before and didn't know what was coming"

I'd just like to point out that they were screams of delight (mostly)…

Another vote for Penketh Cycles. Stu is a thoroughly decent chap and the wheels he builds are excellent.

Scruff, you've whetted my appetite. I'm guessing you mean the "beast"… Where's this stone seat at?

If anyone can provide map locations, that would be really useful.

    Thanks,

    Championship manager.

I honestly think I have lost months, if not years, of my life playing those games.

I would applaud if I could bear taking my hands away from safely covering my nasal passages……..

While I totally agree that forcing prisoners to be guinea pigs for new drugs is against their human rights, what about the option of voluntary testing in return for payment or even some sort of proportional reduction in sentence? I mean, if people get paid for it on the outside, how much of a human rights violation would it really be to let anyone incarcerated have a similar option?

    Just a thought……

I think we're just gonna bite the bullet and queue as long as we have to.

I was kinda hoping they had been exaggerated, but apparently not.

cheers all. in a flash of inspiration i noticed the drain outside my house could be used to hold the seatpin while i turned the upside down bike around it. it worked like a charm. i don't think it was really really badly stuck though, so it might not be the best idea if your's has been stuck for years.

Thanks for all the comments received so far, a fair few of them had me laughing my ass off.

It's more of a comfort issue than a speed issue. I was hoping that it would take a lot of the strain out of my wrists. I spend on average 2 hours per day on a bike and quite often by the end of the week I can really feel it in my wrists. 'Resting' my arms on tri bars sounded like an attractive option to help alleviate this.

    Anyhoo,
    thanks to all who replied.

    My favourite two:

"Assumption is the mother of all f*ckup" (Tango & Cash – I think)

    or

"Who the f*ck am I? I'm the guy who does his f*cking job. You must be the other guy!" (The Departed)

Making your own is a laudable aim. I looked into it but some of the homemade stands actually used relatively expensive bits and the total costs looked quite high. In the end I went to Decathlon and got one of their own brand stands. Best £50 I have spent in a very long time.

I’d like to come along this evening. I’ll be getting the train from Knutsford after work. Where do you chaps meet? Is it close to the train station in Delamere?

    Thanks,

    Iain.

Ok, I did a quick search and made a couple of calls and for the bargain price of £35 you can get a frame sandblasted and a single powdercoat put on it.(white – in this case)

    Details are:
    North Manchester Powder Coatings?
    Meadow Industrial Estate
    Failsworth, Manchester, Oldham, M35
    0161 688 6806

Ask for a dude named Tony.

I’ll give it a go (sometime in the near future) and report back here on how it looks.

I’m in a similar position. Seriously looking at both the 5 and the Zesty. North West Mountain bikes are having a demo day this Sunday and both of these bad boys are available to try out. I’m gonna try them both. (must not take credit card with me, must not take credit card, must not take credit card with me……..)

Just that it was his favourite descent. He also mentioned Cracken Edge, which may (or may not) be somewhere near it.

I lived in PollokShawlands (border of Pollokshaws and Shawlands) for three years. I loved it, but have now moved South for work. I would rate it very highly; much, much better than the West End and a lot less “neddy” than the East End. Queen’s park is great, and Pollok park even has some trails in it (ok, they’re really short, but they helped get my missus into trail riding so they will always be special to me :-))

Search for the image of the cloud inversion at dollywagon pike. It’s one of my favourite pictures of people on bikes.

18 miles each way. Usually 3 times a week, but I’m going for the full 5 days this week. Thankfully it’s fairly flat except a short but very painful 12% section near Styal. Quickest time so far (since November) is 1 hr and 4 minutes for the return leg. Once the weather improves, I’ll dust off the proper road bike and see if I can get it below the hour mark.
