I started watching where the designer and him fell out over the roof capping, and I thought the designer was a stuck up person. I think he was right though, the finished product reminded me of school reports – unfulfilled potential!

Then when she got her Cancer diagnosis and saying that it makes you reflect on the important things in life – I expect starting that bloomin project felt like the least important thing in the world!

We bought a TCL and tv as on paper it had the best spec, i didn’t think to check whether it had an aerial socket! Sometimes you get obscure things only on terrestrial tv, and the internet goes down for a day every year or so

I was brought up to lock my bike up outside. Bikes are outdoors, shops count as indoors.

If you happened to forget your lock then you may politley ask to bring your bike in, but expect them to say no.

When I was at Uni doing a Joint Honours, I thought all the free periods were for lazing about, attaining my honours. However I found out far too late that they expect you to do 4 – 6 hours of reading for each hour of lectures, so when you add in tutorials you should be working about 40 hours a week. Unsurprisingly I was lucky to get a Richard.

In a similar vein, is it worth inuslating under the floor on our ground floor? It would mean getting in to the crawl space and shoving rockwool in a confined, dusty space.

I always thought that as heat rises there’s little point.

I quit biking and took up running, and for all sorts of reasons its better for me, however I do pick up injuries every now and then, and this year has been particularly bad in that respect.

At the moment its enjoying watching my dog zooming round after squirrels.

Sunday morning swim in a reservoir with a friend.

An overnight wild camp when weather / family allows.

Millerground is fine, but you can also swim from the Jetty Museum which is nearer to you, it which has a little bay at the side of it with some little shelters to change behind. This is just outside BoW.

Don’t swallow the water and you’ll be ok.

Recycling facilities in this country are apalling.

As a Sheffield resident, it suits my agenda (laziness) to put whatever doesn’t go in to the brown or blue bins in to the black bin, as it gets incinerated and used in the community heating scheme.

I tell myself that its better to do that than for it to get shipped round the world to end up in a landfill site where soemone can rummage through it to take to the recycling services where they live, which again may involve shipping it to yet another landfill site elsewhere in the world.

Whilst operating a spacecraft with lot’s of ins and outs, and re-pressurising of airlocks, how do they keep a constant supply of air / oxygen?

Each time the airlock is opened, I can’t imagine they are able to recover 100% of the air that is in the airlock before its opened, so if you were running something like a remote spacecraft for many years, how would you ensure enough air to re-pressurise the airlocks?

Montane Terra trousers, but try to get them in the sale. They cover a huge variety of wetaher conditions apart from the hottest / coldest / wettest conditions.

I believe Mountain Equipment Ibex trousers ae similar.

Craghoppers Kiwi are a budget alternative.

If I had some Paramo trousers I’d probably wear them daily from November through to March.

Smoking on pavements ouside pubs is a bugbear, and should be banned. Not just for the passive smoking, but because you end up with drunk adults, often not behaving themselves properly, ona  narrow walkway.

I think designated smoking outside is the best thay can hope for, but would be difficult to police, and I expect publicans would only designate it to tick a box, as opposed to actually enforce it.

There’s a lot of rumours that there will be a far-right protest in Sheffield this afternoon, and because of this a number of events are being cancelled, and some businesses closing for the afternoon.

Could this just be a rumour that results in disruption, i.e. the protests don’t happen, but the impact on the city is big, causes fear and uncertainty about other events?

Obviously no protest taking place would be great, but putting around false rumours could be a clever twist to their tactics.

Khelif’s track record was never questioned until an ambiguous test suggested otherwise.

She has been female all her life, and had been a rising star for a number of years when her sex was never questioned.

We’re hiring a car in Greece, from a local outfit. They appear to want no deposit, and we pay in cash up-front for the 8 days rental. What could possibly go wrong?

    https://www.kefaloniaislandrentals.com/

Apparently their a friendly, reliable bunch. Is this just a difference in cultures / attitudes? e.g. people who like to book everything on line, through big companies for assurance, whereas the local style is just chill, borrow a car, bring it back when you’re done?

Its tough, and hard work for your partner / wife, and at times you will feel like throwing it all in and quitting, but keep perservering. We nearly quite and glad we didn’t as it worked out for us.

Sadly though it doesn’t always work out, despite all your best intentions.

Data centres are important, but they don’t run on fresh air. Electricity production is most important.

I was watching the various party’s and  I think the Green Party most closely align with my thoughts, but I can’t help thinking that I should vote labour as we can’t be doing with either a hung parliament / coalition, or more time with the Tories in power.

There’s a lot of people out there that have lsot faith and think that not voting, or spoiling their vote is much more productive, however I think that that just makes the situation worse – by that token you could say so does my voting intention.

I think Labour’s a pretty safe seat here, so maybe the Green’s might be worth a punt, but will it count for anything?

Our establishment is very dependent on foreign students, they’re required to make up the shortfall due to increased costs but no increase in fee’s for home students.

Recent changes to immigration law, particularly about people not being able to bring family and dependents over whilst they study has seen a decline in numbers.

Currency and market fluctutations, especially in Nigeria, has seen numbers fall.

All of this was on the radar 2 years ago, but we hadn’t diversified our income streams sufficiently. That and we’ve taken out huge loans for large building projects against a back-drop of falling income has meant we now need to lose about 20% of our staff. We are strarting with a Voluntary Severance Scheme, which means most of the 60+ staff will take and take early retirement. If that doesn’t hit the numbers we will have a re-strucutre, and potential compulsory redundancy.

The organisation needs a proper re-strucutre, there’s too much fat in the system, and too many people off sick with a bad shave or broken kettle for far too long.

Fenix 6 here. I probably only use 2% of the features, but its been great. Also being in the ‘Premium’ end of the range they’re not as buggy, which I’ve found with the forerunner 2 ranges. I record 6 or so 30 minute activies and one 4 hour activity over the course of a week on a single charge possibly?

They are quite big, but you get used to it, it depends how thick your wrist is. Some shirts need the cuffs unbuttoning to get them over the watch.

Maps are handy, but the UI is so fiddly its quite difficult to use, and you may forget which combination of buttons to press.

Definitely worth getting second hand as they are pretty indesturctible, probably more so than a Casio G Shock.

We had a poled 5 man Outwell tunnel tent before and it was fine if well pitched, smaller pack size but more hassle to put up.

Decathlon dark and fresh 4.2, I have no idea what you get extra from the more expensive brands. Friends have got Vango and Berghaus tents that cost twice as much or more, and I have no idea where the extra money goes. In France pretty much everyone also has the ‘lounge’ tents as well to do their cooking / lounging.

Could be rapport, could be for establishing power, who knows.

But I actually appreciate this, and do it myself before posing a question to someone. Firstly so that they know I’m talking to them, and so that I get a response from them.

My manager does the opposite, she asks a question, then the name, and then gets annoyed when people don’t know she’s asked the question. I understand that she probably expects everyone to be 100% involved in the conversation, but its just not realistic.

I like the Kingsmen films, but they probably don’t fit in to the ‘Under the radar’ criteria.

I caught ‘Ghost Stories’ (the 2018 Warp one) on Saturday night, I’ll need to watch that one again.

Others from my childhood that I remember being good (but perhaps weren’t) –

    Top Secret (1984 – Val Kilmer) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Secret!

Bullshot (1983) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullshot_(film) – I’ve yet to meet anyone outside of our family that has seen this. Probably watched it 100+ times as we lived abroad and this was ‘hilarious’ and we had a copy on VHS

Always check the Sale at Needlesports before you place your order.

I appreciate that doesn’t solve the OP’s question. Their Dryrobes look good, as do their swimming wetsuits.

All staff need to consider GDPR regardless of role. HR and Finance will probably always have a stronger argument about dealing with more sensitive information.

I used to have a gravelled area, bike sized to do this.

In your situation I’d build a wheel stand out of off-cuts from a fence post or similar that you drop your front wheel in, then you can clean your drivetrain with a chain cleaning device, and all the other bits. The only thing you can’t access will be the section of rim and tyre that are in the wheel stand.

If you can, get a hot water tap outside as well, then get some high temperature hose, a Y connector so you have a mixer set up. It helps with freezing hands, and can be used to rinse yourself / dog / children down too.

I hope that the game will play out as Starmer being the more pallatable choice for the tory voters / red wall turners, and under him we’ll get some stability. In that time the party will do what it needs to do to stand Andy Burnham as their next leader, to be PM in their second term, when we will see some real changes, for at least the next 10 years after that.

Did they say how long that they’d take to provide a response?

I’d say 2 weeks, or one week after they’ve said they’d let you know, is reasonable to ask for an update.

They may have hoops to jump through to get your extra salary, but they should be keeping you up to date with what’s going on.

I think with a name like that you have to expect people to get it wrong, and then after you’ve corrected them (several hundred times) they ought to give the correct pronunciation.

    I blame the parents.

    Pieface

My parents use one, and it really annoys me, as it tends to sit on the side, in the sunshine, all day getting topped up.

I’ve never had sour milk but I just don’t understand why they don’t just get the milk out of the fridge each time, though given the amount of tea or coffee they drink that probably adds up to a lot fo fridge doors being opened / closed.

Its not so bad at their house, as its their ‘rules’, btu when they come to visit and they get ‘confused’ spending 10 minutes opening every single cupboard looking for a milk jug, that they’re going to leave on the side, next to the fridge.

We do have a milk jug, but it is strictly only for use when taking a pot of tea, on a tray, upstairs to enjoy in bed on the weekend.

I don’t know if it’s because it’s getting close to the end, but I would have really enjoyed a nice glass of red about 9pm last night. However that would have spoilt my plan to do a big long run today. Same again tonight, but the Chamomile tea will be nice, and my recovery will be much better.
