Heh, neilc1881, guess you could say to yourself you didn’t buy the Works version so enough money was saved to buy a nice hardtail… As a side issue, prior to getting the 150s, I was offered a shop soiled Halo Vapour 50 with a 2.8 minion which I stuck on my Clockwork Evo. Was (is) fab. 142 rear end meant sticking with standard 27.5, but didn’t really matter. The front is so planted the back just does its own thing. This experience with plus tyres convinced me to get the second wheelset for the Whyte. You get some alarming pedal strikes at first and they are harder work on the ups, but pay big dividends on the downs.

Can I suggest the metal version? Would save you a bob or two and would allow you to buy the plus wheelset. Granted,  baby blue colour not as nice as the black and floro, but it has grown on me. Had mine for 4 months. Love it. Same age as you and come from hardtails so definitely enjoying the comfy ride! Quite impressive how different the wheelsets ride, like having two distinct bikes. I test rode the Works and didn’t think there was £3k difference in feel or maybe I’m just easily pleased.

Have had a 61 plate D5 auto for 2 and a half years. Tis a great car. Can and do so regularly, fit an xl s150s in the back with all the seats down. Have to wrestle it a bit, especially with the 29er wheels, but it does go, comfortably. Talking of comfort, best car ever for that. Does 30mpg locally, 35-38 on long runs. Last service showed up play in the steering rack, so may be trading it in come November. May go for a newish Passat, pretty cavernous and (hopefully) cheaper to run.

If it’s any help I put some Hunt Four Season Gravels with G one speeds tubeless on mine. Huge improvement.

Clockwork Evo Pro has been a lot of fun, good if you’re a bit taller as super long. Have put a 2.8 Minion on the front, not enough room out back for the same, but not sure that matters. Goes v well.
