Grey with orange stitching version lasted about a year before sole had holes right through and stitching/glue had separated from the side on both shoes. The uppers are near perfect though. Lots of BMX killed them but was still a bit disappointed because my first pair, maroon and white ones, lasted four years with the same amount of abuse. Must admit, probably won’t buy again which is a shame because I think they are the best looking mountain bike shoe. Now have the newer Impacts. So far so good.

If you want to disengage the lock (so you have travel) and you want to get rid of the bar mounted lever (which I assume you have) you can remove the spring, manually turn the dial and leave it there. Some people put an o ring under the dial to prevent it from moving back.

Alternatively you can thread a gear cable the opposite way through the guide on the top of the motion control unit so the stop of the cable slots into the guide (if you get me). With the allen key in the grub screw to turn the dial, pull the cable tight under the grub screw and sinch it up. Cut and put a cable end on it and it’s locked open.

I hope this makes some sense.

You can disassemble the unit and remove the spring that returns it to the locked position. Quite a simple process. There is a video on YouTube. If you type in ‘Poplock service’.

Just for balance I have always had good dealings with them. Have sold to them and bought from them.

I didn’t expect to get ‘going rate’ for my frame but I was willing to take the hit to avoid dealing with one of the many tyre kicking PayPal disputers bike parts seem to attract.

That’s not a dig at you Mather01. I’m just glad someone will by my unwanted bike parts hassle free.

Our local leisure centre usually hosts a whole range of holiday activities. Again, it costs money but it’s a thought.

but I still don’t understand why they need incet days on top of the 13 weeks a year they have off already.

Neither do I. Based on most of the INSET I have experienced it’s nothing like a holiday and I’d much rather be teaching your child. I/we/’they’ don’t decide to have INSET though.

Also, see if any local parents know of a decent child minder is available. When our holidays clash with our children’s holidays that’s what we do. Costs £40 per day though but it is what it is.

Best new thing, in my opinion is the dropper post.

    I have 26″ and 27.5″, 2×9 and 2×10. I just like to ride.

As far as the clothing goes, I quite like sport specific clothing. I wouldn’t go jogging in my jeans. Yes, I used to ride bmx in my jeans but I much prefer tear proof short and pads now. If I do fall off (at my age) I like to have the best chance to be riding again asap. Mate fell off at the track, jeans and no pads, out for three weeks with a busted knee. He looked sweet though.

All this ‘mincers in the car park’ stuff. Live and let live. Life’s too short.

For a cruiser 41/18 gearing pretty standard. People will run variations of this , 36/16, 39/17 etc, but a rule of thumb (for your average rider) is you want your gearing as close to 55 gear inches as possible.

My initial thoughts were that they were referencing the EWS that started over the weekend.

I love a bit of fluro. I’m in.

you Fan Boyz make me laugh I assume you posted that on a PC rather than an iPhone running 9.3? I would post a link to samsung but you wouldn’t be able to use it…

You’re talking about the brand and operating software of a phone, right? You’re writing about it like it tried to goose your missus.

Same issue and from my research (I searched for hours and found nothing that worked) there are no fixes. Some have taken it to apple and they have not been able to fix it. Some say Apple blame network providers.

Have tried all the fixes – faffing with Safari, changing search engine, soft reset, full reset, Java etc and nothing works.

Pages stored in favourites work fine.

Google App works (chrome didn’t) but I’m just using Bing. Frustrating that I cannot open links (didn’t realise how much I did that) but I guess I’ll just have to wait for Apple to release an update.

I have one. Great bike. Was going to put my reverb on but didn’t bother after using the standard dropper.

Only changed to a shorter stem and wider bar. Excellent bike for great price.

There isn’t one on the 2016 S Works Enduro unless someone has pinched it, wouldn’t have minded one though

You might want to get one!

Feel for you OP. I had a massive clang on my first ride of my new bike but couldn’t see a scratch! Pure luck.

If I was you, I’d be doing the same thing. Good luck either way.

Ha! Proper mine field it turns out. Taxed as a ‘Diesel car’ on V5, over 2000 on max weight on V5 but car derived van on insurance (all details, reg etc fine).

Who knows. Even if I have to travel 10 miles an hour slower, it’s still ace.just means it will take a little bit longer to get to Cornwall.

My caddy Maxi is a car derived van – on V5 – and is great. Of course, people will have their own opinion but I love it and can see me getting another if/when this one does. Easy to drive, good mpg (1.9 tdi) and loads of room.

    What’s all this ‘session’ nonsense..?
In my days we used to just ‘ride’ stuff..

On your penny farthing? Chillax fam, it’s just a word, innit, and implies a certain level of lackadaisical larrikining about.

It’s worth a visit in my opinion.

I broke my shoulder a year and a half ago.

Time is your friend. Confidence will return. I don’t even think of it now but, at first, every root, rut and rock was the centre of my hard stare.

Remember to think about what you want to happen rather than what you don’t want to happen. In thirty years of riding I have had two big offs. Pretty good odds.

To relieve boredom, I walked the trails and spotted new lines. And did my rehab.

    Healing vibes to you.

Yes, about three times a week.

You’ll be shocked at the standard of 30+ riders but there are plenty of 30+ novice riders up and down the country.

Find a local club. Get to their clubs sessions and have fun. Try both a 20″ and 24″ before you commit to a purchase. I will be surprised if you will find more welcoming biking community.

It will more than likely be a synthetic jersey flapping/rubbing causing interference.

I wear cotton or wool for a more accurate reading.

Not going to lie, and I know it’s controversial, but since they turned the back of Jacobs into Brighton Beach and began destroying the slabs near Rushup, I prefer counterclockwise. I just hike-a-bike up the footpath at Jacobs, ride the descent until the gate, then swing a right toward Kinder (great in the dry) and include the shooting cabin.

There are plenty of shocking things going in in the world that don’t get a mention. I know you’re not surprised that some things don’t get a mention. We all know that media outlets use major disasters to ‘bury’ other bad news.

Imagine how depressing it would be if every single piece of horrific news was televised. Would you watch it? I imagine there are not enough hours in the day.

    People are horrible.

we seem to be overrun with urban foxes

So the urban environment was there first?

Anyhow, make sure there is nothing that would attract them and make sure your, and your neighbours’ rubbish is secure and inaccessible to any animals. There has to be and element of coexisting

Another vote for My Fitness Pal. I wouldn’t have thought I was. that bulky but have lost one and a half stone by simply recording what I eat. I bought a set of decent digital scales, cook from scratch, and do weigh everything- it takes minimal time- and must say it have totally changed the way I eat. I was surprised how easily you can have a bad food day. Essentially, it has taken the hard work out of watching what I eat.

Bottom line is I feel healthier, stronger and leaner than I have done in years.

Bikediscount are good… But imo the shoes aren’t, they’re well made and sticky but have zero feel. YMMV of course.

(if anyone wants a set, I’ve worn my size 9 black ones twice…)

I felt the same. I ride clipless but always have some flat shoes as well. Bought some after my Vans Gravels and my original Freeriders gave up the ghost.

First few times they were like a lump of wood on my feet but after a few rides they are beginning to feel better. Not great yet but definitely better. Maybe give them a few more rides.

Thank you. I’m in New Mills and on the main road it’s clear, on the tops it was two feet under snow in places so I thought I’d ask.

    Appreciate it.

Remember that life is very short.

Focus on the positives, your kids and, above all else, be happy. Remember, you should not stress about the things that are out of your control: she has found someone else and you now need to think of YOURSELF.

And always talk to someone. Four of my friends didn’t make 30. Three of them took their own life because of something which depressed them. I often times think that those things would be distant memories now and we’d be happy and riding bikes.

    All the best.

I agree with you. As a rider with three 26″ bikes and no intention of buying anything else for the foreseeable future (2013 Orange Patriot is my big bike and two 4X bikes in shed) most of what is in the mags on the shelf is irrelevant to me (wheels, forks, tyres etc). Some nice trail writesups and whatnot.

    I like it.

For what it’s worth, leave your cables and stick some more playing cards in both wheels, seems to annoy people which is good.

Grew up in Glenelg, South Australia. Tram straight to City. Gets busy enough for two days and is a central location.

There are places around there. Try Patawolonga Motel. West beach caravan park or places around Colley Terrace. Could be a bargain out there.

I have a 2013 Patriot and a 4X bike. I often take my patriot to trail centres because it is a more comfortable climb. My wife’s first trail centre was the blue at Llandegla. I was in my Patriot. It was great fun. Which is the point.

I was talking to a guy on heckler on Chinley one day. He’d had it for years and put loads of XC miles on it. I’d love one. And a Nomad. And a Bronson . . .

When I streetview my parent’s house it has my father standing on the doorstep. It’s quite nice to see him there as he’s been dead a couple of years.

    This is nice.

Digressing from thread but did you read that story about the kid and his games console? He has a racing car game and his deceased father is the ‘ghost car’ (the fastest time on the track). One day head beat the ghost car but stopped before the finish line so his dad would always be there.

Did you not consider the prospect that now all those types of folk, those who case out a place via street view, will want to know what’s in the smudged out house?

I have a Caddy Maxi, the car derived van version.1.9 TDI. Five seats, swallows everything and drives like a car. Best thing I’ve ever bought. Would be rough for 5k and under though.
