PayPal  credit have a habit of declining even those with the best credit scores. My advice would be to get a 0%card and transfer the balance. Plenty of good offers out there at the moment if you searc on that money website.

Unfortunately, some folk feel that BREXIT legitimised these types of views. Yes, he would have been a riacist before he cast his vote. Would he have felt comfortable shouting that kind of abuse in public before the result? Who knows.

Either way, he doesn’t represent me. No one should have to put up with that. Report it because it’s a hate crime.

That’s not on considering how clear you made it. I have had a similar experience years ago but not all shops are the same. For example, Sett Valley in New Mills and Bicycle Smithy in Hazel Grove could not have done any more to help me in the past and if I needed work doing wouldn’t hesitate to take it to either of them.

My advice for next time would be to take the fork in and get it fitted. That way you’ll have all the parts required. In my experience, if you buy the parts from the shop they’ll fit them for free. Probably work out the same as buying parts cheaper elsewhere and paying lbs to fit. Not saying you did this but if people were thinking this.

I believe it is the stretch at the bottom of ‘Mellor Berms’ where you appear at the cross roads, turn left and climb before getting to Lilly Bank Farm Track. That was a Dolomite sand pit the other week after the heavy machinery had gone. Pretty poor patches of tarmac in places. I think it was complete.

Never felt I’ve had fewer nods from roadies but will say that when I am on my road bike I need to pay far more attention to the road. Can stop on a stamp on the mountain bike but run brakes and narrow bars mean I have to focus a little more.

I have also noticed that cars often pass closer when I am on my road bike. I think the narrower bars means that some drivers don’t t give me the same room if I have wider, mountain bike bars.

Perhaps after 80miles of close passes they are not in the mood to say hello to strangers.

I have this problem. I have had to put heli tape inder the top tube to protect it from bottle rub!

Tried to find a bottle cage with several holes or slots so you could slide the cage lower. Couldn’t find one. Was going to drill new holes in one but just ended up putting bottle in backpack.

For me, it’s the only flaw in this frame.

Diggler is a rapid lad but my biggest gripe is his riding of cheeky trails at a rate of knots and publishing it on Strava. We all have our opinions on cheeky but it doesn’t help the cause.

The again, I’m grumpy and all those Ratdawg gnarpoon types get on my nerves.

I have one running Saints and have no issues. Do you have a 180mm post mount adaptor lying around in tool box or on a fork you could use to test it out? That would be cheapest option.

Not if you sell it with brakes

if you don’t t want to file the calliper, upgrade to a 180mm disk and file the mount the calliper sits on. That way it’s only a £6 mount you’re filing. Admittedly, you have to shell out for disc and mount but at least if you want to sell your brakes they aren’t filled down even a little bit.

The Sportsman on Strines Rd gets my vote. Good food and a good range of ale. I highly recommend.

New Mills Football Club has some space provided it is not a match day shouldn’t be a problem. Off the road too.

Two solid years of Peak District abuse on those wheels and have run DH 2.4 tyres at Ard Rock. No problems at all. Have never measured them amd wouldn’t have known the measurement unless you mentioned it. They have been great and will only replace them once they are FUBAR.

Compared to my 29er Hope XC whelks, which I also ride daily in the Peak District, they are like a DEEMAX. Put them on a gravel bike? Behave.

    Another goodun.

Was yours the Forever Young one? Really liked that. Loved the feeling of that..

Still consider myself a skater. A genuine way of life and one of those ‘if it needs explaining to you, you’ll never understand’ things.

    Keep up the good work.

Pffft, wheel size is so 2015. That said, if I can still get rims and tyres for my 24″ BMX, albeit not a massive range, we’ll be alright for a while yet.

I find boost is the thing making all the bits on my 2015 bikes, both 27.5 and 29, obsolete.

Out of interests do Ardrock seed or attempt to separate faster and slower riders?

I don’t think so considering I was in a group with former elite WC down hill riders and riders slower than me.

As I asked earlier, I am sure I answered a question during entry on entry about my ability on a bike but it was early. I am sure there was a drop down box with fast, average, bimble or words to that effect.

Seeding wouldn’t have mattered much because the first climb tends to cause a bottle neck. Some of the really fast guys just crawl up it so is hard not to pass them and then get in the way later.

It was early when I entered but did I imagine a question regarding your riding ability during entry or were you grouped based solely on what time you entered? I was surprised to be in a group with former elite DH riders and people clearly out for a pootle. I was often letting riders ahead of me in the queue knowing that they were podium contenders and would definitely catch me.

I knew that my ‘race’ was over when I let a proper missile past me on stage one but had to pull over and could not set off safely for what seemed like forever only to catch the riders that passed me whilst I was waiting. Think the seeding thing would suffer as the groups merge on the first climb.

Either way, excellent event. Smoothly run. Marshalls were superb. Stages were some of the best riding I’ve done. Thanks to all the folk on here who helped/worked at the event. Just a world class experience, If I was to do it again, I would enter a ‘fun’ class. Just don’t have the pointy elbows and desire needed to race anymore.

Bronson all day. Sure the Nomad is an incredible bike and will look rad in edits of Looseratgnardawg riding off picnic tables and dry stone walls but as a practical, every day British trail bike, the Bronson is the sensible choice. I am sure a Nomad will go uphill pretty good, my old Commencals Supreme with a dropper used to but my Meta 5.5 was a far better bike for every day British riding. There’s not much a Bronson cannot do.

I guess if it gets too techinal I just think I may as well be riding my MTB

I was like that at first but ended up finding different, albeit slower, lines. just became a different challenge. Have had to true the wheels a couple of times!

    Possibly my favourite bike.

I just ride the same places I ride my mountain bike. Admittedly, it can be punishing but picking my way through the rockier stuff adds new challenges. I link Mac forest and Fernilee reservoir for a decent day out.

My favourite place to take the Cross bike is Sherwood pines.

I like the idea of animals being able to coexist with humans and have freedom.

Me too but my dog has instincts to kill smaller animals. I would hate for that unlikely event to happen. I’m not having him put to sleep because someone else’s dog is off a lead.

I can also imagine dogs getting less exercise and becoming more problematic if kept on leads.

That’s a problem of the owner. Walk further or take to an isolated place.

Not wanting to begin another argument, just cannot see any issues it won’t solve.

    phunkmaster

It would solve some issues, but realistically it will never happen. Plenty of people manage to keep their dogs under control off the lead.

I agree with all of this but every issue I have had with a dog in public was due to the dog leaving its owner’s side.

Genuinely asking, which issues wouldn’t it solve?

    Not trolling.

Out of curiosity, what is so wrong about thinking that dogs should be kept on a lead in public places?

Wouldn’t it solve a lot of the issues. Only negative I can think of is that it’s not very natural but I I’m currently sharing a couch with a dog whilst watching TV which doesn’t feel very natural either.

Yes. Have a 27.5 Trance and a Scott Scale 29.

Love them both for different reasons (based on the factors mentioned above) but would happily get rid of both for a 29er Amthem. I have decided that I want a short travel 29er.

    Love that it is ‘leafs’.

Seriously though, sorry to hear you were attacked. I agree with the idea that stopping if a dog is chasing you is a good idea but think about how most people react if a bee comes near them let alone a Doberman! My son will run if a dog chases him but he shouldn’t have to gamble on whether or not a dog will not bite him. Dogs love to run and it is a shame to have them on a lead at all times but in a public place I think it’s best for all. I have a sight hound. I keep him on a lead in public places because I don’t want him to instinctively kill someone’s smaller dog. It’s probably a very small chance of that ever happening but it won’t because he’s on a lead.

    (dogs love to chase)

If only there was a way of controlling the distance they can run after someone.

I love dogs. Grown up with them. Dogs love to chase and my seven year old likes to run. A lead would have prevented this issue.

I’ve had two close calls lately. Leafs would have prevented them.

That Giant is lovely. Is there no love for the Scott Speedster CX 20? I’ve got one and love it. Wheels are a little weighty but I feel that it’s good value for money.

So they could easily have just said the expected lifetime of that product is 6 years and offered nowt

So why not just say that. Frame Warranty: 6 years

No ambiguity of what exactly a lifetime is. Pretty sure a 5010’s lifetime is a lot shorter in the hands of Josh Bryceland than it is in your average punter’s hands.

I don’t expect a frame to last for ever (although Ellsworth have warrantied some pretty old frames in the past) and I realise that it’s a ploy by companies to get us to part with our money shocker, but that’s not on.

So what’s the expected lifetime of my Trance?

In my experience, DH seems to be doing well in terms of uplift days. Every one I go to has loads of people, young and old, on DH bikes, getting loads of runs in.

Also, yes, most DH tracks can be ridden on an’enduro’ bike (there was a guy on and One One Inbred at Stinog) but run after run I would rather be bashing my DH bike down stiniog rather than my Bronson.

I know that the BDS has had its BC funding slashed. Si has posted, a couple of times I believe, a breakdown of where the money goes and it looks like an expensive do. He’s certainly not making much – if anything.

Lastly, racing DH is expensive. No doubly. But there’s no point in talking about how much time you get on your bike for £90. For £30 you can get loads of track time on most DH tracks the weekend prior to a race. You’re paying £90 to be the fastest man or woman in your category down a hill on the day. On the other hand, paying £90 to get rinsed is not much fun and I wouldn’t want to do it.

I feel for the rapid guys and girls who simply cannot afford to travel the country to race because I understand that ‘racers’ are a rare breed and it would suck not being able to afford to do the things you’re born to do. I just hope they are having fun in the woods.

but it would have been nice to have a camera on the section that had been causing problems

There was a comment about them downing tools because the midges were so bad. Might have been tongue in cheek but wouldn’t be surprised if it was fact.

Will be fine.Tap out the side that is not in – via the top of the head tube.

When winding in with eBay type press, give light taps with hammer – be gentle – on underside of large washer to straighten cup if it goes slightly out of line. Go slowly.
