I wouldn’t use the 200 with the smart sampling GPS for mountain biking. Much prefer the 1 second that the 500 uses.

Id be looking at the new 520, for 200 quid nothing comes close to it for maps and features imo.

The first time i stripped mine it was tough to undo. Removed all the air?

I had to put some double sided tape on the collar to help with grip.

I do mine up by hand now.

Butcher control up front and purgatory grid on the rear. For the sake of 5 quid about 20g id go with the grid versions all day long.

I had a similar problem, shortest stack i found was a EC49 Cane Creek 40. Couldnt find a ZS, but that’s not to say there isnt one available.

Keep me posted as i would love some extra steerer length. lol.

Ive been loads of time now, for me its a love-hate thing.

The busses are too slow and the uplift road takes too long, you can pedal up quicker than the busses.

The cafe shuts when the uplift shuts, so don’t think you can get a bear after catching the last run down.

Uplift pick up point is in a stupid place.

They don’t run in summer evenings except a Thursday.

They don’t have a dedicated singles only bus. This is needed when the uplift is booked solid for 3 months in advance.

A470 is pretty boring so needs a better jump trail not just a line of jumps and a berm.

You’re doing well to get 10+ runs in a day, which at 34 quid isn’t amazing value for money considering what you get at FoD or AS.

Afan masts. From cymmer you can ride there easy.

Whites if you only do one trail at Afan (with black run).

Id be hitting Blaengarw on the way down for a quick hour spin, great fun. Or Cafall.

Load of local stuff, smilog, castel coch/garth/tyn-y-coed, wyllie, machen, rudry, mountain ash….

Black mountains, Cwmcarn and BPW for uplifts

When are you going? Im happy to get you some routes or even show you round something.

Im in a similar situation, im looking for a second hand DH bike but struggling with finding any with sizing a like. Im riding a 2014 Orange Alpine, ETT is 620 and reach is about 480 and a 65 degree head angle, im 6ft 1in. Finding something without feeling im over the front wheel due to the shorter reach in second hand is pretty tough. And my wheelbase is 1200.

Stranage, my 203 hope saw rotors didn’t fit with my Zees. Same with my Formula The Ones. Have to file down the post mount part of the caliper.

Ill never buy a bike with a PF bb again. PF30 on my old 13 Stumpy evo, was gettin an average of 3 months before it was toast. I tried: FSA, SRAM and Wheels Manufacturing. Rubbish.

HT2 lasted 6 months, cost less than half the price and was twice as easy to install.

In fact, ive mapped it out. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/8208339

Mile 15.5 is the decision time to either carry on or cut it short by 6.5 miles.

All the old skyline is still there, some bits are overgrown and it has some trees down but all passable.

Bits to watch out for: Tree down on grand canyon, can climb over, end of grand canyon is pretty overgrown with conifers, just turn down onto the fire road after the rock garden. The rest is a bit overgrown, South pit start, excalibar parts, handy andy, fast forward is running alright tho and grenada has had some work done to it lately. If you want any routes let me know.

The way i would ride it:

Blade to the end of hokey kokey, turn up the fire road to grenada. Ride skyline top loop, riding high, on the edge, jump the fence at the end of on the edge, down the airstrips fire road then make the decision to either do south loop which is straight on, or turn right at the windfarm site and do handy andy, grand canyon and fast forward which will finish by the end of hokey kokey, then continue on with blade. If anyone wants the route ill map it out.

Ride with gps to map the route.

Get info from OS maps and strava.

I look at strava segments then click on the people who ride it and see where else they go on that ride.

Ridewith GPS snaps to bridleways, footpaths and cycle paths.

Get the app and use the route section to see the route you create and then hit show my location to see where you are on that route. Not exactly turn by turn (which you can pay for) but it helps to get you in the right place.

Rapist tent – Cafal, cwmcarn. Was a random homemade tent on the top of the climb just before it opened.

A few just outside cardiff are good, gammon hangers, dogger dodging and holy shit that was steep.

At least they changed to Shimano for the brakes. Now if they ditched the bullshit pressfit 30 BB id be tempted with one again even tho i snapped my 2013 EVO twice. It was that good.

Out of interest what’s your reason for doing this?

I’ve put my command post on my Orange Alpine and ditched that metal elbow and adjustment thing and it works great now. Decent cable too. I mounted it on the bars after cutting down a specialzied grip so the plastic part remains so i could use it with my ODI rogue grips.
