Run what you run for any other trail centre. The muddiest track is either 50 shades or dai hard and theyre not that bad.

I think the amount of coffee thats being drunk would narrow the choices down.

For example i dont think a pod type machine would be economical if people are just make a normal coffee.

Just renewed my subscription for the winter, gonna do some random ones to get back used to the turbo before doing the 8/20 test.

Just make sure the sockets are deep enough, my Halfords professional ones bottomed out when doing the NDS bearing.

I dont think the vertical drop is big enough to warrant a chair lift.

A loop for the uplift would be ideal, no waiting to pass. I dont think its viable with the current fire roads without major work.

There is another way to to the top other than the XC/fire road climb which is much quicker.

Thats good news but without more buses or better uplift route/road they’ll have way too many trails than what the place can handle. The trails are pretty empty now even with fully booked uplifts and a full car park.

Im not a fan of Twrch but that doesnt matter really, places like these should be kept open for all.

The last thing the MTB ranger has said about it is…

Fully open is going to be a while yet I am afraid. However I hope to have more idear about rought dates in teh next few weeks. Will keep everyone posted.

    And

Yeh we’re trying to get it open as soon as we can but the felling work is going to take some time. Hopefully we will all be riding it again soon!

So in other words, no clue when its open.

I hope they can get it running but with some nice tweaks as it was looking a little tired last goin off, plus its awesome doing it backwards in the dark.

Ive been running road cleats on my commute and I cant stand it, its great when theres no traffic but clipping in and out is a pain. Cant get the power down quick enough for traffic lights etc.. like i can with flats.

I’m no quicker with them either so i’m going back to my superstar nanos and either my shimano AM’s or 510 Freerider elememts.

If your slipping and dont wants clips of any sort then get better pedals/shoes imo.

I use loads of AA’s for my speedlights for my photography. I pretty much only use Eneloops or on the odd occaision the new 2900mah 7dayshop ones.

Depending on what the load is on the battery can affect the performance, for example this is a duracell battery

    – 2348 mAh at 0.1A load
    – 1808 mAh at 0.2A load
    – 1050 mAh at 0.5A load
    – 506 mAh at 1.0A load

    Whereas a 2550 XX Eneloop will do…

    – 2452 mAh at 0.2A load
    – 2423 mAh at 0.5A load
    – 2385 mAh at 1.0A load
    – 2200 mAh at 2.0A load

    HUGE difference.

For anyone wanting to get to Rhigos mounatin or onto skyline/afan from the Taff trail this is hands down the best way to do it. Mixes fire road with single track descents and single track cross country then onto route 47.

I often ride from work in Abercynon, so from taff trail, up route 47 through Ynysbwl to the top of the Rhigos along with loads of variations which would be perfect.

If you want some routes which will take you from Cilfynnyd up to Rhigos and Skyline let me know. I have most of them mapped in RideWithGPS

I also know Afan/Rhondda areas very well.

Just looked at my strava, only ones close are 26k/730m, 35km/566 and 25k/543.

They were all between 1hr 5 and 1hr 30 (which was the 35km/566m ride which included the Rhigos mountain which is 300 in one go).

Living in the south wales valleys its always climbing but traffic is a big problem too keeping speed up. My commute home is 22.5km and 300m takes abuout 50-60 minutes most due to traffic.

Motorbike alarm fixed to the inside of the door is an ok deterrent. They knock the door to break in and it goes off. Like the oxford screamer. Warning beeps on first knock (allowing you to get in and disarm) then goes mental on second knock.

You could get a wireless alarm which runs off batteries too.

You should get some rehab but make sure you control the swelling initially with ice. First week i’d be looking at RICE, ICE without a doubt for the first 48-72 hours then the rest of RICE.

I’ve done my ankle playing basketball plenty of times so ive been through it a few times now.

Ultrasound seems to have fallen out of favour at the moment but it seemed to do me some good to try and break down all the hard calcium/blood build up after the initial trauma. I would look to find a physio tho.

Couple of things i used to drop over 3 stone.

    You can’t out-train a bad diet.

Cut back sugar, especially refined sugar and carbs to lose weight.

Gym work (compound lifts I used mosty) along with cardio helped massively.

Balanced diet otherwise, try to stick to fresh stuff and things not in a packet/packaging.

    Press fit is bullshit.

I was going through a PF30 about every 2-4 months on my old Stumpy evo, depending how much cash i wanted to spend on the (SRAM up to Wheels Mfg).

Cheapest PF30 is about 30 and they’re utter shit quality. Ideally you need a puller/remover to get them out unless your happy to smash them out with a pipe. Then you need to install them with a press tool to get them square.

I’ll take a 10 quid Ht2 that i can change in minutes with one “tool” and a hex key every time.

I will categorically never buy another bike with a PF BB.

My current bike for general riding. A DH bike and a road bike with discs and decent tyre clearance for commuting.

No clue on the latter, but i’d take a session, a demo or a glory. I’m not that fussy.

I can see me getting annoying on this thread now asking questions.

I got a load of mtb parts in the parts bin, could i use my old 9 speed stuff on this? I have a shimano 3×9 long cage mech and trips front mech and a 11-32 9 speed cassette and chain, could this be used somehow?

Awesome news. Need to get a list of bits sorter then. Never built a road(ish) bike before.

    philwarren11

I’m seriously tempted with getting one of these, possibly frame only and build one up parts bin style.

What BB does it take? If its a press fit i’ll forget ever getting one. lol.

Im surprised you need any tokens at your weight.

I run 1 token, 30% sag, 1-4 clicks off LSC depending on terrain. No idea on rebound, just slow enough that its not like a pogo but fast enough to push back up a little. I’m 100k btw.

Stupid question but you are turning the LSC the right way? All the way anti-clockwise is off, clicks clockwise is adding.

I must be in the minority in that im going to 11 speed for the extra top end gears and not for extra climbing gears.

I’m more than happy with a 11-36 and 32t for climbing but often run out of gears and/or would like a better chainline more often and more chain tension. So i’ll be going 11-42 with a 38t ring. 🙂
