I didnt need a new b screw on mine, 11-42 MX3 with a 36t chainring running a medium SLX. Some adjustment left too. Shifts perfect too.

I wish i had gone for a 38t chainring tho, would have been next to identical lowest gear as my 11-36 32t chainring combo i previously run which I was more than happy with. I dont think i can physically get a 38t ring on the bike tho.

The masts. Centre strava map on Pontrydyfen and look at the forest to the west. Loads of trails, most techincal and steep tho but awesome.

I didnt think youtube shows 60fps, try exporting it at 30fps then uploading.

As good as pedalhounds is im not sure i could spend all day uplifting it. Yes you can do Cafal final descents but it would take a lot longer so you wouldnt get many runs in doing that. I think you can pay per uplift if thats an option.

I have a pair and a pair of Accuri’s. I prefer the cheaper Accuris to be honest, theyre smaller and fit in my Fox Rampage Pro helmet better. The racecrafts do look betterer tho.

I’m seeing loads more road bikers at the moment. I live between the Bwlch and Rhigos mountains, so a bit of a magnet for road bikers, during a sunny weekend you wont believe the amount of bikes now outside the cafes and up on top by the ice cream vans.

MTB wise, always seems new trails are being built, official and unofficially which can only improve the economy. Places like Cwmdown paved the way for places like BPW and now BMCC which are both doing well. Bike shops seem to be doing well too.

Most of us local people hardly ever ride there when the weather is good, too much local stuff about to be at a trail centre.

Mice urr cum-ma. That’s how I’d say Maesycymmer. Shithole anyway.

Y Mynydd, again, I’d pronounce it ur mun-ittthhh certainly no eeees in the second part. Depends where your from tho.

I live in Treorchy, Rhondda. Quite a difficult one when saying your address over the phone.

When i had a 500 i just looked at the elevataion profile, if it looks like it went back up and down to the same point i was happy with it. If not i switched it to GPS data. Easy to do on Garmin/Strava.

I have both 5 10 freerider elememts and Shimano AM41 and if im buying shoes again i’d get the shimanos again.

You’d loose a tiny bit of grip but you’d gain more “waterproofing” and the drying speed. When you got decent pedals you dont evn notice the grip difference.

Everything is open and running well. Including the cafes (Skyline and Visitor Centre).

If people think the drivers are arsey then it probably because people cant put their bikes on the trailers properly so they have to re-do all the straps.

I’m sure they think the bikes are held on with magic.

Two rides in, 40 miles and some decent climbing. Spot on, cant fault it at all. Found it no difficult to set up than my usual 10 speed setup.

Thinking about it i love Dai Hard, Pork Belly and Insufficient.

    Best combination for me is…

Viscious Valley, Bonneville then Insufficient funds.

Worst trail is wibbly wobbly imo.

I think terrys belly is overated and so is A470.

Standard warm up is Sixtapod onto Willy Waver.

Quick ride last night to check it out.

Shifts perfectly except dropping downn into the 11t cog, its a little slow, not an issue but not quite as sharp as the others which seem to just bang into gear. I think this is because of the b-screw adjustment so ill look to see if i can adjust it out.

Y Mynydd is shut currently but pedalhounds is open.

I would say PH is on the easier side of the black grading.

Installed a 11-42 MX3 this weekend, seems to shift like my old 11-36.Not ridden it yet tho but it seems ok to me. Only issue is in the lowets gear it will drop down the cassette when you do a full revolution of the cranks, not that I will ever do that when riding.

Using it with a medium SLX mech, b screw wound nearly all the way in and a 36t chainring and KMCx10-SL chain. Out of the box the chain was the right lenth, 114 links, which was nice.

I did shift my BB spacer to the NDS to give a better chainline when in the lowest gear, i’ve been bending mechs outwards so im hoping this will help too.

I thought it looked like a Rocky Mountain.

What a bargain tho if you can put up with PF30 BB lol. 1×11 GX too.

IMO cafall is a better trail. And with twrch just being reopened, probably with diversions and temporary surfaces i know which one i’d do.

Cafall doesnt take long, if you got time do both.

My commute is 15 miles each way, 300ft to work 1000ft home.

I would say a singlespeed is totally out for me, too much climbing to be stuck in that gear and too much downhill on the way to work.

Im currently rising a spesh allez on 25c tyres. What i’d change..

Something that can take about a 32c and guards.
Not bothered with rack mounts as i leave stuff in work and take a rucksack if i need to carry anything in.
Disc brakes 100%. Weighing 100kg and riding in rush hour on some fast sections can be frightening.
Something light and flexible but not too much to not be fragile and with a relaxed geo.
Compact with 11-32 would be perfect round here (south wales) if i want to take the long way home.

I’d put money on BMW knowing what a wishbone weighs. And every component.

They do know, its probably heavy compared to its competitor thats why they dont say imo.

Looks like a 5 with bits hollowed out to save weight (and add more flexibility?)..

    So like an Alpine then?

It doesnt interest me but what is slightly interesting is the use of boost rear end on this and the segment. Probably will see it on the next Alpine too which is probably the one i’ll get next.

Another vote for the Smart 700. Cant fault it to be honest.

See if you can get on a uplift from Afan Valley Bike Shed. Proper off piste.

Buy SLX and give them less money.
