In true recommend what you own style… Orro Terra Gravel. I’m loving it for my commute at the moment.

20km in 30mins on an exercise bike means nothing.

I use a Prologo Kappa Evo, its ok, not as comfortable as my Charge Scoop/Spoon as use on other bikes but i’ve not done many rides on it so it might soften up a little.

For me LSC and the stiffness was worth the price extra. I hated the divey Revs i had.

Reminded me of a yeti when i saw it quickly.

If its boost rear end i’m on board, picky i know, i’m not the lightest and ride pretty hard and kill wheels, a lot of 650b bikes ive ridden seem to have a flexy rear end due to the wheel. I love my Alpine, I have the last model 26″ so this ticks all the boxes.

I grabbed a pack of hooks from Ikea and hang them from the holes in the back of the frame. Hangs up tyres nicely.

I actually watched the course preview thinking they were not allowed to ride on some of the actual course.

Ive ridden it in all weathers. Its pretty much spot on all the time, they do a great job of getting rid of standing water.

Cant think of a specific trail that gets wetter than others, maybe wibbly wobbly. Back end of Dai Hard gets a battering in the wet, that berm into the road gap is next to useless.

    How tall are you?

I’m 6ft 1 and whilst i found the medium/55 was ok i found the reach small when out of the saddle. Ive ordered a large and if needs be i’m happy to put a shorter stem on but i think it should be ok.

Looking at it, the medium will probably be spot on for you. Have you seen one/ridden one yet?

    1 token.
    160mm 26″
    25-30% sag
1-4 clicks of LSC depending on steepness/jumps.
Pretty slow rebound. Better for me on the jumps as it doesnt bog down and ping you out of them.

Works for me. 15 stone kitted up on an Alpine 160.

I tried, cleats, spd’s and flats on my 13 mile commute. My fastest time was in flats. I much prefer them for the stop start traffic and dealing with lights. This is on a road bike, i only ride flats on my mtb.

Fitted one of these this weekend, installation was simple enough like any other headset. Will be riding it tomorrow morning. Certainly looks way better on my hard tail.

In the past four years Ive used loads on…

    Tektro Auriga
    Elixir 5’s
    Formula The Ones
    Shimano Zee
    Hope M4

Mostly sintered as they last longer in south wales. No issues whatsoever.

Straight on flagstone path. The thing weighs like 120kg so its not going anywhere in a hurry.

I got an Orro Terra Gravel coming this week too, glad to hear you like it dickyhepburn.

I’ve not seen many sub 1k gravel bikes with hyrdos.

GT Grade 105 has cable/hydro things, does the Norco search have them?

Whatever you do those forks gotta go. I got a set of them at 140mm and theyre shit compared to my pikes.

My voodoo wanga with 140mm forks, ardents etc.. for my commute at the moment while i wait for my gravel bike to be delivered. 15 miles/300 to work, 15 miles 800 feet on the way home. Its manageable. I don’t mind it to be honest, beats driving at the moment. Ive put some city jets on it before and it helped a little but wasn’t the most comfortable. Takes me between 50 to 60 minutes to ride.

I’m 6ft 1, just checked the heigt, its too low by about 150mm, which is about the size of a monitor riser. Our monitors are non height adjustable.

I would use one for health benefits, sitting down for 7-9 hours a day doing design work/CAD is no good for anyone. I have no back issues or any other problems. Same goes for my colleague, bought for wellbeing.

Ergotron Workfit TL desk mounted one here in the office (product designers). I dont use it, im too tall for it so would need a riser underneath to get my eyes level with the top of the screen.

I I were buying one it would have to be larger, if that goes high enough, but i’d want to make sure im able to get my numeric keyboard, mouse and 3D space mouse on it.

Its a decent piece of kit tho, lifts up pretty easily by hand.

Ive never done a day with a pack there, probably done about 15-20 uplift days there now and Thursday evenings (theyre awesome) and i’ve only had 1 puncture.

What you need a pack for more is water, you sweat like **** on some of the long trails if giving it beans.

They dont stop for lunch now, its staggered, so less buses running.

    Another tip.

Make sure whatever trail you pick before lunch goes down to the tunnel (then dont go down Insufficent Funds). You got a nice walk back up to the cafe if you dont.

I was going to post how to put the bikes on but its easier to ask the driver when you get there as really you should pick the correct strap for each side of the bar, not just where the straps go.

Sixtapod/Willy Waver start is pretty much what most people do.

Best route imo is… Vicious Valley, Bonneyville, insufficent funds. Or Dai Hard, Coal not Dole and Insufficent funds.

Frame on finance. 18 month normally as I tend to keep the bike 2 years, save for the 6 months for the deposit for the next one.

Parts where possible are from existing bike or new in sales/deals.

My worry is next bike will be 650b which means “new” wheelset and forks.

    W2 one day.

Blade with Whites black run added and skyline section added another day. Whites black run comes back to the same point which you can easily carry on and do blade.
