Tried MRP 1x direct mount. Shit. Also got a cheap Truvativ/MRP XO guide. Shit.Lasted two rides.

To sum up, MRP is shit.

Not convinced personally about N/W so i run a Straitline Silentguide which is awesome.

That hope one looks similar tho.

Warranty them then find out what they are from the dealer? Mine went on my 2013 ones within a few months and i got them replaced under warranty.

Yeah i thought as much, I’ll have a go at bending it back into shape as i got one to practice on.

Mine bent, not the cage but the aluminium main body that everything is fixed to/hinges on. The thing was twisted up a treat.

Blaengarw and Margam Park? Blaengarw is small but it can be ridden a lot with the shortcuts and figure of eight shape with the black at the top and blue lower.

Or failing that im sure someone will show you round somewhere like, Wyllie, Machen etc..

Hi Ride With GPS. It has changed.

You used to be able to crop rides and save as another ride, great if you forget to stop your GPS device, its now part of the premium package, along with the upload to garmin directly.

Strava doesnt follow marked fire roads, poor!

I’ll check out Basecamp. I use garmin connect to upload my rides as well as strava, but you cant crop rides in garmin connect which is nuts.

For example, ive done many uplift days at BikePark Wales and I set my garmin edge 500 at the start of the day and stop it at the end of the day (to save messing about stopping and starting for each run), now i have no way of creating each run from one garmin file.

All im hoping for is a sale come october on a large 2014 alpine frame then i can swap my bits over from my current bike. 🙂

I’m sure it wont be long before they announce the full 2015 lineup.

I spoke to a guy at Orange at a demo day at Afan a couple of weeks back and he said that the 2015 Alpine 160 will be 650b, but they will still be offering the 2014 26″ alpine frame as its still a popular frame.

Make of that what you will.

Doesn’t LSC only work in open?

Loco, how much for a service and a change of assembly to 160mm from 150mm. I’m local so I’ll drop off and pick up.

Ive not found any to last, currently using a wheels manufacturing PF30 which ive had to repack the NDS after less than 2 months.
Sram one lasted 4 months, FSA one lasted 7.

When this goes im converting to HT2 with a praxis.

    Piece of shit BB’s.

Having ridden both a lot, i would say the new trail at cwmcarn beats anything at afan.

My Sram one lasted 4 months, my FSA lasted 8. Thats 800 miles of hard riding in south wales, plenty of uplifts too.

Now on Wheels Manufacturing, been on for a month or so, so far so good, but time will tell. If this lasts the summer ill be happy, otherwise I’m going praxis and HT2.

No. EXO is thicker imo, and the weight shows that as well.

Ripped 3 sidewalls on a purgatory control, I wont touch them again. Plus i’ve tried them tubless and kept burping them as well. Just too lightweight for me.

For 5 quid extra its a no brainer, the weight isnt that far off as well, certainly nothing like a maxxis EXO weight penalty. And it has a beefier sidewall.

I run them with the butcher conrol up front.

2013 stumpy evo here, running 780mm bars and 45mm stem, flow ex, formular the ones, zee 1×10, strait line chain device and got 150mm pikes coming next week.

I tweaked my shock with a volume spacer which helped loads as I’m 100+kg. I use it for everything here in south Wales, found the forks lacking support and blow through travel too easily and I’ve snapped the chain stay but otherwise it’s and awesome bike.

Still no satellite view on anything. Don’t understand why it’s not there on iOS like it is on android.

Not sure if its any help, but my 2.5 high roller 2 fits on my 2013 stumpy evo.

Think the HR2 is wider than the equivalent minion.

Dont do the final descent to the car park when doing blue scar first, after the bridge (the same bridge that penhyddy uses) turn right up the fire road, this takes you back up to the end of the first descent and back up the main fire road to continue doing Penhydd.

Are you trying to ride it all only touching the trails or are you trying to cover every part of the trail and maybe use some fire road/cycle path stuff?

You can do penhydd and blue scar (i know its a blue but its loads of fun), do the whole of the Wall, then ride back up to Tramway on the wall, carry on the fire road missing out tramway and nantybar, until you come to picadilly then ride the W2 link over to Energy, keep riding past the start of energy until you come to a left turn up a hill, this will take you past the end of the black run and up to windy point. Follow the signs for blade, you can add on the additional Skyline loop if you want, then follow blade all the way round back to Glyncrowg then ride Whites all the way round back to Glyncorrwg, black run included.

Ride down the cycle path to Afan car park.

The only sections you would miss would be the 373 option. Thats it. I can map it for you if you wanted.

    Hope that helps.

    My post gets around.

I still stand by the fact it shouldn’t be open as it’s gonna get/is ruined.

It’s not like I rode it like a girl either.

The shortcut is worth doing as well, takes you onto the black just below the rock garden so you get the best bits in the trees.

Its a nice little trail, short, but can be fun for an hour or two.

Yeah, agree, best trail ive ever been on for draining on the weather, ive been up there in some horrific conditions.

I personally wouldnt touch MRP guides again after snapping two two guides and one bottom roller clean off.

Now moved to a Straitline Silent Guide which is awesome.

They were running 3 vans up until christmas, they didnt have enough drivers. Then waiting for a bus and two turn up out of the three takes the piss a bit.

I love the fact the buses are sponsered by Mercedes Vito but the vans were bought by BPW and are Ford Transits.

I’ve said above in my post, more buses and more passing points needed before more trails. You hardly see anyone over on melted welly/blue belle.

Its starting to get stupid now. Every weekend is fullyu booked into May now. Ive watched them sell out in hours as well, one saturday came online at midnight and sold out by 10am in the morning.

Im pretty lucky, local and have done 6 days there now but booking is still at three months at a time.

Even on opening day which i had an uplift day pass the trails were pretty quiet.

They need more buses before they build more trails. Also, running two together then one, as they were on running 3 at one point aint the way forward. Build some new passing spots and run single buses more frequently!

    Just go a week later.

Whites is pretty much fully open with the exception of the crappy northshore on goodwood. Yes some trees are missing on the climb and final descent but thats it. I actually think its running better now than ever especially with the choice of two final descents.

Penhydd/Blue Scar open, the wall fully open, skyline final descent re-opened and Blade opening on the 12th.

I think Afan is totally worth a drive now.

11 months on my bike, SRAM one lasted 4 months, the FSA one is going now.

I’ve done a total of 800 miles on it, pretty hard miles, a lot of uplifts and natural stuff in south wales.

Liking the idea of the praxis with zee cranks tho.

Thanks for the info, unfortunately it doesn’t apply to my forks, i don’t have low speed compression and have only 3 settings for compression and a rebound setting.

Looks like theres **** all i can do apart from sell or keep using the compression knob.

    philwarren11

I don’t go by pressures, I go with where the oring moves to on my local stuff then see what sag it gives.

To use most of the travel allowing some margin for big hits i have to run about 12-15% which makes small bump stuff awful.

If i set the sag to 25% i bottom out the fork a lot and it sits deep in the travel on the steeper stuff. Its got to the point when i do steep runs i turn the compression knob to the middle or even to full compression.

Get whatever approved gfx card for your software. I know if you run a gaming card (which you can soft mod to act like a workstation car) things like real view graphics are missing.

I run a 3.4ghz i7, 8gb ram, Quadro 600 on Win 7 64bit to run SolidWorks 2013. Runs it nicely to be honest.
