I run 28c Vittoria Zaffiro on mine, im sure they come up a little small tho, ive run 28c on all my bikes with real issues/disadvantages.

    Mine is about 80% commuter.

I’ll probably check out something bigger soon if these are measuring small as the road round here are awful along with the cycle path i ride.

Threaded BB on the new ones, after having a Stumpy evo previously i wouldn’t have touched an Enduro until now. Now its a potential new bike.

Had my command post on two bikes for 4 years and its been great.

Has anyone owned one thats been had an attemoted break in?

Another top tip is an Oxford motorboke alarm hanging on the inside of the lock. Any movement and it gives off a warning (enough to unlock and get in with keys), further movement and it goes mental and keeps going providing theres continual movement. Nice little deterrent.

Liking the astro turf idea tho.

Keeping an eye on this, was just about to pull the trigger on them for my Orro Terra Gravel. Pretty standard frame size, plenty of clearance with discs so “should” be ok.

Thats a bike designed by an engineer who only took notice of a handful of market feedback points.

    Long and slack. Check.
    Carbon. Check.
    Well known components. Check.
    Unique suspension acronym. Check.
Enduro something in the literature. Check.

But lets ignore, looks, bottle cage, price, boost, press fit BB’s, listing frame weight and did i mention looks?

    Nothing on Cafall.

Climb to totem poll, most of the singeltrack climb is shit then concrete slab to final descent. Both free ride sections are open and had some love recently.

    Thats my local area.

What that story doesn’t tell is the other traps on the same mountain side we’ve found nails stuck to wood buried in the mud.

Its not to stop MTB I’m guessing but to stop the loads of motox idiots in the area but they fail to realise its on a walkers paths that could injure walkers, dogs and horses.

Needs a lot of work now the MX bikes have given it a pasting especially on Ghost Train.

I think its a poor trail considering the amount of money they had for it. Lazy trail builing using old sections of skyline.

Boring cross country first section, rubbish pedally Beacon View with over camber turns and no flow. Ghost train was ok when it opened now needs a lot of repair with the mx ruts. That switchback bit is pointless.

Heartburn was better as a descent, just ignore it and pedal up the fire road.

Next few sections are boring. 30 seconds of helter skelter is ok then the last section of hokey kokey is quality. The rest is hard work until the final descent, which is awesome but pretty brutal riding flat out.

I’ve got one of these as well and an excellent commuting light. Well usuable on high on unlit roads and medium is still good for lit areas. Not widely available now though but HighOnBikes have them for £38.95 which is a bit more than I paid a year or so ago from them.

Oh, that wasn’t there last time I rode etd. It has been a while though.

    Yes it was.

Its been there longer than BPW has.

Always found the gap at the start of dai hard weird. After that everything is rollable and not very difficult. Yes you can hit the road gap at the end (if the berm isnt destroyed), the rock drops arent really drops unless you hit them with some speed either.

Enter the dragon is a step up from Dai Hard imo.

If you want more natural feel without qualifiers or jumps imo the best combo is…

vicious valley – rock and roll or bonneyville then deep navigation (i personaly would do insufficient funds then).

Only ones ive heard of being dug up are caerphilly mountain. Everything else i know of is the same or better/new stuff. Only felling is supposed to be Machen.

Machen, wyllie, smilog, coch/garth/tyn-y-coed, mountain ash, rudry all good.

Every safety glass ive tried are awful. Tried some knock off Oakley full jackets too and they were terrible.

I need to invest in something decent soon tho so will find an oakley shop/large sunglasses place.

Blade was the replacement for Skyline while the turbine work was going on. It uses the interesting bits of Skyline anyway. Supposedly the boring parts of Skyline will be revived in some form, though how many people really rode it anyway?

I still do. A lot of us local still ride it, although a lot of it has been claimed by mother nature. Good thing is none of it got dug up by the windfarm so only needs drainage and trimming to get it up and running.

You can add the massively cut down skyline loop onto blade, its not the greatest but has some great views, proper cross country stuff, some fire roads etc..

Personally to add onto blade i would get to the top of whites/blade climb and either do the black run and climb back to the top of whites/blade climb or ride windy point and energy and go back up the fire road back up to the bottom of the black run then back up to the whites/blade climb top and carry on Blade.

    What headset?

I had this issue when i went from my stumpy to my alpine. I found the lowest stack headset possible and went with riser bars.

I got no interest in riding hard tails. Built one up, used it twice off road and hated it. Couldn’t ride it as fast which to me is a major part of my enjoyment. Just too much of a compromise in south wales.

The whole picking lines I think is rubbish, you can because you ride slower on a hard tail.

My go to was 1000mg vitamin C mixed with some sort of paracetamol.

But the best i found was Difflam oral rinse. I think it might be prescription but I’m sure you could get hold of it easy enough.

I suffered every 2 month pretty much, sometimes more with tonsillitis until i had them removed 4 years ago at age 30.

I currently ride the last 26″ alpine, 2014. Flows, DPS Dueller coil etc..

    I’m not worried about weight.

I wanted boost rear end when i moved to 650b for added stiffness. 170mm forks is a nice option as i was thinking about getting a dh bike but this might cover everything i need.

This ticks all the boxes for me, i love my alpine so no doubt i’ll love this bike.

They are shit. I got to the point where i was spending a fortune so sold it. I was going through them nearly every three months. Tried, SRAM, BSA, Wheels Manufacturing ones too. Next time i would swap it out for a praxis converter and HT2 straight away.

    I now avoid bikes with PF30 BB’s.

I use these with shimano MTB spd’s on my road bike. I think they can be had cheaper elsewhere.

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-r065-road-spd-shoes-2016/rp-prod127714

Always wondered if its easier to clip in using road cleats on these shoes compared to 2 bolt on road shoes.

    Vivoactive HR here too.

I wouldn’t recommend it for constant MTB as it doesn’t do 1 second recording but for general stuff its awesome.
