Out of the box it wont work with other levers (ie SouthPaw) as the nipple end is in the seattube, the clamp is on the lever.

Saying that, a few people in the US have had success using a KS Eten end clamp in the seattube and using a southpaw – Don’t read too much into the failures.. ;)

I’ve had mine on for a 2 weeks now, been faultless. Think mine may have been one of the first in to TFTuned..

Oh, also, the Fox lever is very very nice to use.. (although coming from a Reverb that’s not surprising!)

I’ve seen both run on 27 and 28 with no issues…

So, what your’re saying is… Go back to round, ok as long as I don’t mind losing a place or 2…… but don’t even think about returning to oval or the bike will bite me..? 8O

Yep, ordered a few things from them – no problems at all.

Genuinely not a troll post, but a couple of years ago in Les Arcs I was talking to a few guides – no-one out there would touch hopes (in fact they nicknamed them “No-Hopes”) – I want to like them but have not met anyone (face-to-face) who rates them overt Shimano (whether XT or Saint) – have they significantly improved over the last couple of years, or is it that they’re great for UK trail riding just not Alpine riding?

    Cheers

Will these fit an inline as well..?

I’ve been considering this for a while. I’ve been watching the US forums where they’re more available and there’s been a few people complaining about reliability (dropping 5-10mm in use) which is worrying…

Agreed re weight. After a few runs in the Alps it ended up in my bag! Having done some hunting around, I think I’ll be selling my F3 and getting a 735XT soon.

I wonder if any criminal action was bought against Tesco’s for identifying an issue with a driver that was a direct cause in an accident only days later?

I wore my Saint M820 clutch (and pivots) out after about 18 months regular use (2-3 times a week) and 2 trips to the Alps.

Almost feels like jumping on the bandwagon, also kind of thought that everyone knows them so well they don’t need recommendations, but they’ve looked after me with a CCDBI warranty and a service and repair on my CCDBA and they were utterly brilliant. Like Steve says, they (Murray) rang me when he had my shock in front of him to go through the details… Rare to find service like that.

Thinking about it, we only really ever hear about things when they go wrong, about time we openly praised those companies who really do go above and beyond. TF are without a doubt one of those companies.

I think IBIS had their wide rims out way before plus sized tyres existed? Never did their enduro race teams much harm…?

I’m currently having some E13 TRS+ rims built, they’re the new versions that are 28mm internal. Have had Arc’s and dented the hell out of the rear, just riding my usual trails.. My old Arch EX was stronger!

Are you using the Mallet E? I never had this problem with the Mallet DH, replaced them with Mallet E and suddenly had it. The Mallet E have a narrower Q factor than the Mallet DH, so my toe was hitting the crank before release. I’ve since put the Mallet DH spindle in the Mallet E and no longer have any problems..

CB do sell a long spindle kit for the Mallet E, but its really hard to find anywhere..

Reverb hose – not need to fit on your bike.

I’ve only ever used it to thread new hosing through a frame.

I’ve heard that 25ish mm you can run WT – its apparently no different really to running 2.35 Schwalbes – the Maxxis 2.3 measure up small, and the 2.35 Schwalbes are large, meaning that 2.5 Maxxis are almost the same as Schwalbe..

In the Alps I’ll be carrying multitool, co2, tube, waterproof and lunch..

Good call on practicing fully loaded. Makes sense!

Without getting anyone into trouble, I spoke on the phone to someone who knows about this upgrade and don’t expect miracles from the upgrade, but it does look cool as hell!

Apparently all future CC shocks will have this coating as standard, they are only rolling it out as an upgrade at the moment and standard on the new OEM shock they released a few weeks ago.. https://www.canecreek.com/products/suspension/c-quent

For £40 I’m going to get my CCDBA upgraded when it goes in for a service in a week or so. 8)

The only place I can think of is Big Maggys – they have a big following over here. Were they on your list?

Failing that I can ask around for you..

Has anyone found anyone with shorty 2.5s in stock? I’m considering Shorty/DHR2 in 2.5 for my Alps trip in a few weeks..

I’m in a similar position.. Last year I used Mary’s front and rear, however they did tear after a few days.

These days I run DHR2/SS combo at the moment, need to get tyres for the upcoming trip. I want to try the WT DHF/DHR combo, but I can get almost 2 sets of MM for the price of one set of DHF/DHR…

For a week in the Alps I’m tempted to go back to MM. The WT will be too much tyre for my normal riding.

I’ve dented my Arc 24 – absolutely no recollection at all of any heavy impacts that would’ve done – only one side and very deep.. to its credit its still holding air.

Just ordered a new E13 TRS+ 28mm rim to replace it.

I’ve used it in the past – use the 9mm and then clamp this in.

Ref Mallet E’s and DH, I;ve also had both – I think part of it is down to the q factor – using AM9 shoes I needed to move the cleat as far inboard as possible to allow the toe in/heel out release, I also feel the too narrow part. I’m looking for the long axle kit to convert the Mallet E to the wider q factor which will hopefully fix it.

Second the Condor – make sure you book the Clipper overnight.. Longer but it will make the crossing, unlike the Liberation.. (Condor’s high speed ferry, new last year, but has broken down more times than the previous 2 ferries!)

Yep, we ride all of the cliff paths (MBUK commented that we had some of the best singletrack in Europe a few years ago)

There’s also some decent runs through some of the woods.

Hmmm.. Ish.. hahaha – once you’ve done it it’s easy enough, basically you have to ride down slightly then hike up and over to the lake – can’t remember the name right now but will dig it out. I may have a gpx of it from last year.

Not sure if we’ll do it this year – they clamped down on it pretty hard halfway through the season last year.. Which is a real shame!

Bike Village or Trail Addiction philstone?

Neither – we do our own thing these days – been going for the last 4 years so know most of the off-piste stuff, although going to try and find a few more this year.

Staying with WhiteBeams in their chalet in Nancroix, the guys who run it know all of the unofficial stuff so they usually help us out.

    We’re going 6th – 13th August.

    You?

One of the guys I ride with has a Canyon Nerve AL i think it is, he keeps trashing mech hangers (not Canyon’s fault) but they want €20 per hanger PLUS €10 shipping PER HANGER – yep thats right, if you want 2 hangers then its €60…

I’ve been running an Ardent on the rear for 2 months or so, only this week put the Minion SS on. Ardent is very very nice – lots more grip than expected and rolls really well – only slight slower rolling than the SS.

I’ve heard the aggressor doesn’t actually roll as well as expected – no experience mind, just what I’ve heard on t’web..

Re DHR2 – can’t comment on the rear, but I’ve got one on the front and don’t notice drag.. Very very grippy mind.
