Apparently the hoses are different on the saints. The hose is the same size, but as it has (thicker?) wire strands (I believe for protection on DH courses) they don’t flex so they are more powerful.

Ah, sorry they’re 35mm, but I do have a couple of matching Joystick stems in 35 & 50mm reach?

I’ve been using Joystick stuff for a few years. Love all of it. Have actually got some Analogue and Binary carbon bars for sale (moved to Di2 so got the Pro integrated bars)

I’ve noticed segment explorer is a bit screwed recently. Was trying to show a friend a segment and it wasn’t showing – even when selecting bike and DH segments only. Thought it’d been deleted until I found it on my strava feed. This combined with being unable to create new segments because they are “too short” is killing Strava for me.

So I’ve been running Cura’s since May last year.

In the past Ive had M9020, M820, Guide RSC, M785..

The Cura’s have the power at the least of the M9020, modulation of the Guides but the fade resistance of the Saints (even after a week in Les Arcs – where the Guide’s faded out!)

My only criticism is that there are no direct mount options for iSpec 2 shifters – there are for Sram and Ispec B though. I had difficulty getting the positioning perfect with my XTR shifters, in the end I’ve swapped the shifter for an XX1 direct mounted (which does work perfectly with an otherwise XTR groupset)

    I’d definitely buy them again.

I ordered a frame and headset 2 weeks ago, frame arrived and lower frame cup was missing. a week later I’m still waiting for their stock team to look into it, even though I sent them a photo of what was received at their request..

    Trusty – is the 29er HR2 available in 2.4? I’ve noticed a huge difference between the 650b 2.3 and 2.4, wondering if it’s the same on 29…

Interestingly, I’m running HR2 front and DHR2 rear, both in 2.4 flavour though, and love it! Not had any issues at all with grip so far, br contrast my mate is running Magic Mary on the front to keep up!

Quick question – will I need a mid-layer in Les Arcs – end of Jan/beginning of Feb? And if so – any suggestions? Cheers!!!

Had both. Prefer my Formula Cura’s – work for me in the Alps and for Loic Bruni… Lighter than XTRs as well. And cheaper.

Love La 8 (also known as black 8). There’s also an unofficial line that shoots off from it called White 8. To be honest the lines from the top of the Trasarc aren’t that great. Unless you go for La Varda I find the best trails in Les Arcs are in the trees.

I’ve got one with a couple of mates, I’ve used it a lot. One thing I’ve realised is that you can tune a fork/shock for a specific trail, but on another trail it’ll give bad results. The way I use it is to find a good example of DH etc and session it tuning the forks/shock, that tuned it for when I wanted the suspension to really perform. The rest of the time I used lockout etc so that it wasn’t trying to tune for slow climb etc as I didn’t want the compromise.

    Does that make sense?

MRP do a straight bolt on kit requiring no dishing..

The non boost only go to 160mm, anything over is either RC2 or boost.

I have to do a lot of road transitions between trails so going FIt4 this time. I know that I can get TF to Push it to exactly where I like it if needs be.

Not sure yet if the x7 shifter will work on the Xt front mech, find out when it arrives, it should.

If it’s 11speed I’d be surprised if it doesn’t. I’m running an XX1 shifter with XTR rear mech…

Wallop – Yeah, my wife is going to learn to snowboard and I’ll need a couple of refresher lessons I reckon. Can you recommend anywhere? I know Les Arcs pretty as well as I usually go there in the summer on the bike.

So, in a spur of a moment thing I’ve booked to go to Les Arcs skiing for a week – end of Jan.. Going with my other half and 4 friends – 2 experienced snowboarders, 1 experienced skier, my wife who has never snowboarded but kitesurfs and I haven’t skied since I was a kid..! Should be interesting! Any tips? I was confident when I was younger, off-piste etc, having skied in Megeve and Flachau..

I thought I read somewhere that 160 36’s only have 157mm of travel? I know mine have never gone over the Kashima writing..

    I have a set of 17 Lyric RCT 3 and 36 RC2s…

I’ve just had the 36s sent to TFTuned for a Push tune and they are fantastic.

If I hadn’t have sent them then it would be an easy choice – the 36s are fine if you are a good hard fast racer that needs the support from big hits at the sacrifice of small bumps. If you aren’t them Lyrik everyday.

The point is that I doubt the majority of us need a race level fork like the 36 RC2 – we’re just not good enough to appreciate it!

My experience is it’s inevitable. After seeing my first Evil in Les Arcs about 4 years ago, I’ve lusted after one. Eventually bought one in May. Love it.

Just been out for a quick spin on my 36s after TFT serviced them and Push tuned them – amazing. So much better than before, I think I may have finally got Lyrik small bump sensitivity, with RC2 mid store support and tracking.

For the cost of a service and tune definitely give it a try.

Formula 35s are amazing. The only reason I stopped using them was due to them catching the head tube on my Evil on full compression. Shame really.

Its ok – maybe I’ve been washing it wrong (although I did email Endura for their guidance) but it does wet out very quickly now, despite being washed with TechWash and then using the other proofer from Nikwax afterwards…

If I can’t find a decent alternative with more arm protection then I’ll certainly get another one, just checking out the options first. :-)

I’ve been suffering with harsh 36’s for a while. Got a custom negative air spacer fitted which has helped, but sent them to TF for a service and Push tune – will let you know how they go and if they are able to match my Lyrik for small bump compliancy..

The rims themselves are fantastic. I’ve been running 2 sets on Hope Pro 2 Evos and they’ve take an obscene amount of abuse. Finally killed a rim after trying to jump up a set of stairs at speed and getting it wrong. According to those with me they doubt anything would’ve survived. Wasn’t a catastrophic failure as I still managed to ride for another hour on the rim and it didn’t go flat, was a bit bumpy through due to the huge flat spot!
    Flat Rim..
    Flat rim!

Maybe Manitou are going to end up the bling boutique brand.

They always used to be back in the nineties!

Yep, 1x. Not interested in 2x as it’s unnecessary. I had 10-42 but 42 was unnecessary, hence the drop to 11-40, if I could get a 10-40 I’d go with that. Plus the 36-42 jump was really annoying!

It’s a brand new KMC X11 SL chain so is be surprised if it was that.

If the Shimano cassettes sit closer the spokes than the SRAM cassette that’s make sense.

In Jersey we always have to use roads to link up paths. I’ve tried loads in the past but for me the best compromise for grip/drag are Maxxis HR2 on the front and Ardent 2.4 in the rear. When it turns wet and muddy Im using an Aggressor on the back and I’m really really surprised by how well it rolls.

I’ve had my Insurgent for a few months now – received support from both Silverfish and Evil direct – no problems at all. Neither of those issues were really issues though – after advice and spare hangers etc for my trip to the Alps.

Have a look on MTBR and PinkBike – there are very few unhappy people on those pages. Apparently the frames are now built in the same factory by the same people as Santa Cruz.

New Shimano’s as well- AM9 or ME7 – both have extra long cleat slot holes now.
