    HERE

AFAIK you can’t amend the auction to buy it now once it’s listed as an auction. I’d just end the auction early using the above form and complete another way (off ebay, although against the rules or set up buy it now and tell them to complete that way)

I used to have a 3 door ST3 (white with blue stripes 😆 ) great fun car, LOADS of grip for a front wheel drive sports car, none of the usual turbo lag you would attribute to that type of car, great handling due to the control blade suspension but very thirsty. P***ed all over the Honda Civic Type R i had before it but was a few years ago so maybe the lagging behind newer cars?? Great to pootle around in too, really easy to drive. I’d have one again.

There are indeed still some damn fine shops out there, but people only mention things when they go wrong.

I am in the lucky position that I live 3 miles from very good LBS’s, Race Co and Two Wheels, both in Stourbridge. Both very good in there own ways, both very knowledgeable, both well worth a visit.

    +1

I’m in the same position as you BH but must say Nick at Sixty Nine Cycles in Chester is one of the most friendly and knowledgeable guys i’ve met. For a relative newbie like me some of the shops that you go into can be a little patronising so will defo be sticking with Nick. “Real world” workshop pricing too.

    Grinderman – No Pussy Blues
Nick Cave – Into My Arms

Both still give me goosebumps but each in a completely different way.

Never had any dye coming off on hands or owt Tim, only when cleaning bit of localised grime off and the indigo comes off. Elfin, some people swear by putting their jeans in the freezer to kill off any nasty bacteria etc, using Fabreze or sticking them on the line overnight to “air”

Slowjo – give Nudie dry denim jeans a try. Great quality /fit denim and seems to fit exactly to (my) size. They do start off slightly tight but tend to grow out once worn for a bit and stay that way without ever going baggy. Also your meant to wear them for 6 months before washing them to give them that unique patina in the denim.

+1 for Advanced Task Killer – can help you “kill” selected apps running in the background that are taking up memory, battery power etc.

Quick Settings – really useful app for switching WiFi, mobile data, GPS, bluetooth etc on and off. I really like the auto brightness setting on this.

Aloqa or AroundMe – see what banks, restaraunts, cash machines, pubs, garages are near.

Net Counter or 3G watchdog – so you can keep an eye on your data usage.

AK notepad – for when you haven’t got a pen.

Songbird remote – Rip your music collection to pc and contro it all from anywhere in the room.

Robo Defence – Tower defence (is that what you call it?) game.

Goggles – take a picture of something (book, bike, car etc) and it’ll identify it and direct you to the web giving you info on it.

Loads more on there – just have a search and download, they’re mostly free and you can always uninstall if you don’t use em.

    Pete,

Thanks for the advice, I think the 318is would be the way to go for me.

Would you think there is any merit in going for an earlier car with lower mileage or a later car with higher mileage or would you take more notice of history?

We used to sell it for anywhere between £200-£300 wheras all in (product, paying the valeter to apply it etc) cost us roughly £50 per kit so a tasty markup there. Wouldn't personally pay for it to be applied but nice to have it done for free.

Thanks guys, the allure of a new car is not that strong with me so am as happy with a oldish car that one with all of the bells and whistles.

I think the idea would be to spend a small amount on a runaround to get me back and forth to work and to stick the bikes in and pocket the remainder.

Just got the Legend on Vodafone @ £20pm and right nice it is too. Does all i'd like it to (Sat Nav, emails, internet, hell it even makes phone calls). Was tempted by the Desire but for an extra tenner a month didn't think i'd take advantage of all the extra bells and whistle it had (bigger memory, higher res, faster processor) and i was on a budget.

Would seriously think about going for the 18 month option though as you know what things are like – both of them phones will be out of date in 5 minutes and you'll soon be salivating over the next big thing soon.

Read something the other day which said something along the lines of middle class, middle aged men are now buying high spec bikes instead of sportscars due to the recession.
Whether or not they will find their way onto a trail is a different matter of course.

Not according to bikewhisperer scotia, never just as simple as a bleed.

Like i said, don't have the stuff to do it and could do with it doing fairly soon. A cheapo Avid bleed kit is £15 on ebay no? + fluid

    philsimm

Scotia – in time yeah but could do with them being sorted fairly soon, never done it before and like I said don't have a bleed kit to hand. For £20 seems ok plus can get Mrs Philsimm's brakes done at the same time

I don't want the mounts facing, re shimming, the pistons lubing, or the rotors truing or any of the other stuff though? If there is other stuff that crops up during the bleed then would be happy to pay but for a basic bleed…

£40 is taking the piss if you ask me. Quoted £20 at another new LBS that's just opened up the road so gave them the custom (support your LBS and all that ) plus i'm a hamfisted goon and don't have the bits.

Denis, what's his history like on the Canon forum?

Have you tried google mapping his postcode as mentioned above to make sure the address he's given you exists?

Presumably the name on the bank details is the same name as he's given you?

have you tried doing a directory enquiries search for his home phone number?

Isn't there some dodgy way of tracing a location of a mobile phone signal or did i dream that?

According to Mrs Philsimm (who used to work for the EA in Buckley:

It would be the sewage operators for the area – whoever owned it. The EA would investigate any pollution to a watercourse and require that the situation was resolved, and may take enforcement action against whoever caused the pollution, but would not normally undertake repairs or clean up, unless it was a massive end of the world type incident that couldn’t wait. If the sewage is just on a path or field, and not going into a watercourse, it would still be the sewage operator to repair it, but it would then be up to the local authority Environmental Health team to do any chasing or take enforcement action

Chewkw – Struggling to see your point here, i think either trolling or a bit dim, this made me laugh though, idiotic

The way I see it unless everyone stops eating meat (which is not going to happen) its still going to be farmed and then get killed so we ought to eat it really otherwise the poor things are going to waste.

I'll buy free range eggs etc, but it doesnt bother me how its killed*, meat is meat. Having said that, I don't eat a lot of meat and I don't like meat that still looks like the animal (i.e. I will buy chicken breasts rather than a whole chicken!)
