So it’s a bad ride if it has been wet

I’d say it’s 50% rideable on the way and as mentioned the rangers is all rideable apart from a crazy small section. Had anyone risen back down the llanberis path, it looks like fun.

Just got back from snowdon and it was immense. The climb was horrendous but the people at te summit and on the trains where amazed we went up on bikes. Rangers was brilliant and I found my flow up until the small section that looked impossible but it was just amazing.

Telegraph valley was fast with cracking jumping of the water bars 🙂 all in all a great day out, the weather was amazing which always helps.

Avoid the M1 and M62 due to the road works

It’s ok for a brain out ride but I prefer riding in the lakes. I have lee quarry and gisburn within 30 minutes, I live next to the pennine bridalway and rude the lakes every other weekend, llandovery is never gonna figure high in my list. What’s the weather like around snowdon at the moment? I’m off up there on Monday.

I use memory map on the iPhone, it’s £10 for around 25000 sqkm of 1:50000 is mapping which is good. Download all the map chunks on wi if beforehand and switch data off. I don’t use it as a sat nav I just pull it out of my jacket every so often and press the location button to check where I am. I’ve done all day in the lakes and used only half the battery.

Poly that is exactly what I use mine for. I plan the route, memorise a few points of note then ride. Get phone out check position, note next turns and things to look at and then ride. It hasn’t failed me yet.

As an ex infantry soldier my map reading skills are great but MM On my iPhone is by far the easiest way of masking sure I’m where I’m supposed to be. Getting maps and sometimes compasses out is a faff.

wagonwheel thats nothing, keep them clean and check the seals and you can get a few years from them 😀 mine are in a much worst state than that and i still use them.

i’ve had my bike 2 years and have replaced the following.

Rear free hub went after a year
    just replaced the frame bearings
cable inner and outer a few times
    brake pads times a few
    a new headset
    new BB

apart from the above list everything else i have bought is to do with me just wanting a bling bit of kit. i absolutley hammer my bike and i weigh the same as a small bungalow so i don’t think it’s bad going.

I have a pair of fox forks that need replacing as well but thats because of the shitty forks and not the bike.

i had a 5 yr old orange 5 before this and the only thing that had been replaced were the tyres and a few sets of brake pads 😀

cabbage, I followed that every 3 to 4 weeks and my forks are still knackered. All the wear happened out of sight, I only found the damage after I dropped the lowers to replace the seals. My advice would be to drop the lowers everytime now, it takes about 30 minutes.

+1 on fox being shite, i followed the instructions on servicing and there stil knackered. bike was in shop last week and the guy was amazed they still work, his words where “i’m surprised they havent killed you” 😀

they worked amazing on borrowdale over the weekend 😀 once i replace them i will post some pictures up and we can see who has worse forks.

    i’m buying rockshox next.

Yeah it can be terrible up there but it’s a cracking piece of trail, was better when they had a skinny log on the run off from the slab

Just to add, I wish they hadn’t removed the log at the end of the slab at lee quarry.

ache that is the Balck route and is an amazing bit of trail.

i’ve crashed so many times up lee quarry its unreal but i’ve only ever worn knee protection. body armour is OTT in my opinion.

fell off riding Dads up in grizedale and have a massive bruise on my knee, wish i had worn knee pads then 😀

well it’s 2 years old so the warranty is spent anyways. i have asked ritchie at silverfish and he said no, but i’m unsure if it was just because of warrenty issues or if i would actually die.

but then you don’t need a downhill bike in Lee quarry either 😀

I regard myself above average win regards to riding. I don’t do jumps but rocky and steep is my thing and there isn’t much I can’t ride down but I once broke my hand and lost some confidence so I went on the stop crashing course with ed. he gave me the push I needed and it helped me that way.

On the rock steps at home baked? Again not that bad a section to be fair but I see lots of people chickening out at the last moment, which leads to the accident. Get well soon to your friend.

It isn’t that hard, rude between the 2 rocks at the top wit a bit if pace and it more or less puts you on the right line. The videos and pictures of it going wrong all have the wrong line, they areall off to right, you just need to run down the centre.
