Not particularity cheap…or just the front but I’ve just got the Superstar 35mm set with a 30mm internal. Might be worth a single wheel request to them?

Runs a 3.0 Maxxis Chronicle lovely and they actually feel pretty decent. Running a 1/2 fat MK1 Swift.

Happy Valley?? Her miserable face all the time and mumbling made me want to throw myself out of the hotel window.

    I’m out.

I use a Suunto Ambit Run 3, dead cheap if you search around, I picked mine up for £139 from Bike Discount.

Use it running but also riding, simple to use, last around 16 hours on tracking mode and links via bluetooth to your phone. Upload through Suunto Move app which links with Strava. All you need to do is change it from a run to ride in the starva screen, still picks up all your segments.

    Edit – Cheap here

Yeah better shock now, the original RL was a bit limiting.

I love my Cane Creek once I finally got it setup. Spent a day in the woods with a note pad and shock pump!

Ridden both and went for the Segment, just felt more lively and more fun to ride.
The Alpine was fine but felt like it needed winding up to get it going, I had a SB95 before and that was similar.

Segment is an awesome bike, I run a Cane Creek on the rear and have put a 140mm fork on it, handles everything around here in South Wales. All natural stuff and the Bike Park. I tested it down 50 Shades when i was running a 120 mm fork and it handled that well.

Great bike, mines a large if you want to ride it sometime. Obvs no idea where you are…

140mm Pike on mine, did run an X Fushion at 120mm for a while.

It’s a beast with the 140mm 🙂 Happy on all my local off piste South Wales stuff. I’ve gone Cane Creek on the rear though over the standard Monarch.

    Thanks Neb,

Randomly Rose have done some lurking in the bushes 😆 and seen my post and emailed to say that it should be doable with a 125mm reverb.

Good service! They look awesome as well, I built one on line all the spec I wanted for about 2.2k! lovely

Random question Neb but what’s your saddle rail height to the centre BB? I’d like a Large for TT length but not sure I’ve got the leg for it with a reverb fitted!

    Cheers

Nope, it’s due though I guess.

The new issue image has only changed today on the website though and I’ve not spotted it in Smiths so I guess it’s imminent.

As said above, terrible video compared to there previous offerings.

Looks more like a flowing singletrack, awesome on a hardtail or the Tallboy but not looking the part for the Nomad!

Brakes changed & now with a dropper

    I’m 5’8 with a 29″ leg. So I’ve a reasonably long back.
Medium would be spot on i’d have thought.

EBB is great as well, I’ve had a few singlespeed frames in the past including a Niner and this is the most reliable.

Mine was 25lbs, rigid with mostly XT bits and cheap wheels.

I’m thinking of getting a Tallboy LT and would sell my Full sus to put towards but the Swift will always be in the shed

Awesome! Had mine around 2 years or more, probably the longest I’ve kept a bike 🙂

Normally single speed but currently 1×10. Mines a medium, I run a 50mm stem & a dropper on it (ks). Swap between rigid and a sus fork.
Ridden all day marathon epics to a razz round the local South Wales tech.

Probably best hardtail I’ve ridden, very capable.

I pretty sure the BBC news just said that it may have flown for a further 4 hours, turned round and perhaps flew back over the peninsula towards some islands?!

    WTF?!

Ex Pilot thinks it’s some kinda hijack.

Maybe it is just sat on some random island somewhere?!

Perhaps it’s becoming a real life lost? We’re all actually dreaming this and a polar bear will be along soon!

Yeah the Stumpy Evo is THE bike to have according to some!

Rode the standard Stumpy 29 last year and wasn’t impressed but the Evo is meant to be a different league!

Not heard heavy mentioned before, maybe a cheaper spec one?

Think the angle set and bigger fork is the way forward.

Lovely cheers gents, few mates with Nomads so good to hear it’s as capable.

Alu with the angleset is my plan, don’t think I can go to carbon. My Evil offers awesome grip but I love the bigger wheels

Yeah they did, in fairness they could be just after asylum etc. but the Mr Ali ticket buyer from Iran did sound a bit strange!!

    We’ll probably never find out.

Flights for the 2 stolen passports were booked in Thailand by a travel agent for an Iranian man called Mr Ali as a middle man…according to 5 live.

They wanted to get to Amesterdam as cheaply as possible, the airport to the world…for me I think they had a bomb, it went off early/by mistake. No claim over it as they messed up and don’t want to ruin how they got it aboard for the next attempt.

Was super tempted to get one and I’m now looking at a Solo if I let the marketing take hold and change the Evil….

TR wise, Don Skene Cycles (Cardiff) have a TR complete on offer, spotted it yesterday can’t remember the price but it was a deal.

Probably strip it for the frame if you asked nicely.

And of course it comes with Manual ability as standard!

In thinking of the Five 29 as a Frameset option but also considering the Gyro as an option as well,
Seems to be a lot if people racing Gyro’s at enduro etc.

Cover not far from there with work so could maybe meet up for a ride anyway.

I’d highly recommend one, but there’s so many nice bikes about these days!

Quite a bit, I get to ride a few bikes through work etc. Treks, Oranges, Santa Cruz. All good bikes but the Evil fits me the best and was an awesome price point hence why I bought one. Also they are a bit of bike porn 😆

Had a Mega before fitted with a DHX 5.0 which I loved but found the back end a little flexy in some situations (Was an early one).

This is far more direct and stiffer, no side to side flex in the swingarm so if the back steps out on a root or rock etc. then finds grip again it really fires you back on line. (if that makes sense?!)Grip levels on it are unreal!

Pedaling wise, I’m not as fit as I once was but sit and spin and theres no noticeable bob at all, if you stand up over the front and power down the thing absolutely skoots forward! I run mine in Trail shock setting all the time never use climb and have a 375mtr climb out of the house on a road up to the mountain.

Size wise, i’d try and sit on one, I’m 5’8 and went for the Medium/Long and run a 40mm stem on it. Medium had a better seat tube but felt to short, but its all personal. I like long top tubes for some reason!

Mud clearance wise, not had a problem even on a local Avalanche race when they’d cut new trails in and it was a proper clog fest, it seems to clear itself due to the swingarm shape.

Descent wise, I can’t go quick enough to test it! Fair few top 10’s on the local strava tracks and a decent showing at BikePark Wales.

Poppy and playful is correct, feels like a smaller travel bike in the way you can move it round but then happily crashes through anything!

Awesome little review here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpefrivcD38&feature=player_embedded

I’m South Wales based if you wanted a pedal sometime.

Quick update, frame still doing well.
Have recently changed the Delta link bearings, they were previously spherical but now a more standard sealed bearing. Approx 7 months on them, lots of South Wales Alps bashing and a fair few days at Bike Park and various other centres. I’m pretty happy with that 🙂

FOC from Evil/Silverfish who were great to send them next day. Evil very helpful by email as well.

Recently fitted a Float X instead of the CTD, much improved support from the shock, especially in descend mode but still allows full travel and response without the spongy feel. Custom tuned to the US Evil spec option.

In the picture I was running a 2.35 Maxxis Advantage, now I’m running a sample 2.35 Maxxis Minnion DHF. Not huge clearance but I’ve not had any clogging even in the muddy crap of my local trails (Garw valley, Ogmore Valley)

Not the best angle but my Evil Uprising. 29lbs with a Float X now fitted.

Took mine to bike park Wales last week, loved it on the climb and then it loved the Red’s & Black descents 🙂
Loving standing out from the 450 Fives & 450 Spicys etc 😉
Still running mine in high for the steeper seat angle but will try in the low soon.

Weighed it…28.5lbs! With Superstar wheels and reasonable spec, 25lbs 150mm beast easily doable if you’ve got the money!

2 year warranty with crash replacement scheme.

Website, old company owners, there is a beta around of the new one but they seem to be using Facebook more than anything else.

27.5″, maybe there will be but it won’t “replace” just sit along side if they do one. Although only small numbers of these were made as far as I can tell.

I’m sure they’ll say “we’ve been testing it for 99 years etc. and now it’s time to release…” Just like the others..

    But that’s a whole different thread…

Bonneys Steak house by Glentress centre, best steak I’ve ever had. 🙂

Just got back from a 2 day event there with work and it was great again. Thurs – Monday night he’s open.

Had mine for a few weeks now, loving it so far 🙂

Tire clearance wise, it’ll run a 2.35 Muddy Mary on the rear with a bit of clearance so I’m happy with that, will probably run a smaller tire 90% of the time. 2.35 High Roller has decent enough clearance.

Frame really well built and super sturdy feeling, basically a Undead with a smaller linkage. Built mine to 29lbs, 1 x 10, Lyric (160mm) and Superstar wheels, light builds definitely doable.

Size wise, I’d say try one 1st, I rode a Medium & Medium Long and went for the Long on the end for the longer top tube, my previous Mega was to short but provided miles of standover. I’m a short arse at 5’8 but I’m mostly back length so It fits me really well shape wise.

Longer top gives plenty of room for movement of weight on the steeper natural trails I ride locally.

Descending, as you’d expect with the angles its a beast 😆 Run mine in the high setting at the moment, climbing, my Mega felt better but this is actually quicker according to Strava times (I’ve not got fitter…) Stand up and the thing pretty much surges forward like a Carbon XC bike not a 150mm trail bike.

All in all I’m really pleased, and the bearings are still smooth & it’s not snapped yet…. 😆 🙄

Ordered one today after checking one out in the flesh, looks amazing and feels super solid! Linkage is huge!

Way more built than most carbon frames I’ve seen on the market. Should be here Mon/Tues so i’ll update once built.

Story is be quick, another shop saying only 30 in UK. Smalls already sold out but I guess they were bought in small numbers.

I’d not go 2nd hand with one personally…mate of mine broke 3 frames before they gave him a upgrade FOC to a carbon one!

Good ending i guss but one frame cracked in the main frame as well as the swingarm. He’s a rapid rider but not heavy on a bike either.

    Arrived & built today 🙂

Quick pedal round and a small seams spot on, posts on number 4 so plenty left there and top tube reach seems spot on, saddle in the middle.

Job done 🙂 can’t wait to give it a razz! Shame it’s not till next weekend at the earliest!

    Small spot in for me

Bought a small from Singletrack bikes, I’m more towards 5’7.5… 🙁

Also wifes got a 15’5″ Gary Fisher so i rode that round for an hour and found it pretty good. Always ridden small frames.

I’ll let you know when it arrives! Such a bargain!
