    Hi TheSwede,

are you a young female, with ample boobage? if so send your application for Phil'sMegaSnowBouncyFunTime 2011 Holiday along with a selection of photos of yourself both in and out of your snowboarding gear to my private email….

if not, then sorry dude ;)

(+1 on the course/camp idea, heard nothing but good reviews and the added value of tuition each day for much cheaper as its included and knowing how much to budget from people who have done it before)

ohh and baselayers can be used with both, and after a 1hr session at MK last week i found climbing hills much easier so i'd even go as far to say that not only are clothes transferable but mtb is a good way of keeping the legs tuned for winter and boarding is a good way of keeping them active for riding :D

this site provides me with much amusement, all you oldies make me laugh when you argue

lots of people trying to be better than each other
lots of people spouting googles top answers as their own knowledge/opinion
lots of useful advice that gets forgotten when people start fighting over opinions
    some very funny people
some epic trolling (mr nutt i still salute you)

its like watching 16 year olds get upset on facebook or back in the day when "top friends" on myspace was more important than life itself.

great fun, the moment i start taking it seriously or stop laughing then i hope i realise and take myself away.

surely its only a race when the other person knows they're in a race and wants to take part?

when some fool sits next to me at traffic lights revving away in his saxo and races away from the lights… he's in a race with an imagined competitor…. i get to make the choice whether i'm racing, not him.

so whats the harm in setting yourself targets on your commute/ride to work, whether its a time you want to beat, a car you want to beat or someone with a sexier bike you want to beat… as long as you're not doing anything dangerous in the process?

for the people that get stressed about being overtaken, you need to get over your poor poor egos, go treat yourself to a skinny mocha choca lotta latte and reassure yourself you're awesome no matter how fast or slow you go :) If you rise to the bait and end up racing the person yuo're annoyed with for racing, then your a willing competitor to a race you dont know the rules of… fooooooool

the OH found out her mum had been in an abusive marriage before by stumbling into an old diary in the loft… still hasnt approached her mum about it to this day.

my parents told me all the family secrets at a stupidly young age, grew up knowing the dark side of life and it definately effected me…. think what i'm trying to suggest is that there's no right way to deal with things and no "right" time to tell your kids

still births, misscarriage, cot deaths are all 'difficult' subjects to talk about in the open if you are the kind of person that 'bottles' things up, and afraid to talk about….
you could just have a quiet word with your mam and say 'you overheard the conversation and ask if ya mam would like to talk about it ? if she doesnt want to then leave it at that..

i agree with elaines post above, as hard as it will be, dont make the conversation about it.. about you, very easy to end up along the lines of "why didnt you tell me? how do you think this has effected me?" and so on.

sometimes its the whole family that doesnt know, not just the kids… a surprising amount of women dont tell husbands/partners either so it might be worth being wary of bringing it up in front of anyone other than your mum.

    hope you're ok dude!

is this so she can grip onto the ironing board and/or pots and pans better? either that or you've got a big enough kitchen to allow her riding time and i applaud you for your success in life

i've got bar ends ready to put on my risers…. just gotta get some grips to cut up and try it all out.

does make me chuckle at the fashion police, nobody is as cool as the naturally cool person who doesnt try to look cool. if you have to ask the question, you're not cool.

    no more internet for you.

no pocket money, as soon as your old enough to get a job, thats when you start paying costs towards the house.

edit – agreed with meehaja, sounds like my childhood.you can always tell the difference at uni/college etc between people who worked for stuff and people who had been given stuff.

some people dont drink tea…. they tend not to consider offering tea to people… same with people who hardly drink anything… when you're not thirsty i guess you're less likely to consider if other people are

in reading (thames valley police i think) i'm wary of every car…. initially it was just new black/silver cars with whatever the most recent and new registration was (09/59 etc) but they're using a HUGE variety of vehicles, seen a few rude-boys being pulled over by unmarked police in cars with bodykits and so on (high spec golfs).

i find i get tailed by them a lot, i'm a young looking 25yr old driving a skoda with a national trust sticker and during the day if im driving i've usually got an anxious looking person in the car with me, all whilst driving at the speed limit and not 1mph over…. suspicious mix and i dont mind being followed.

after they check the details and realise i'm insured/mot/tax blah blah… they back off and follow someone else.

wish they'd follow some of the idiots on the roads instead of me escorting a already anxious/paranoid psych patient who's also noticed the suspicious black car and driving talking into walkie-talkies on their shoulders.

women shouldnt have the chance to get close the the physical triumph of man… unless you've let yours out the kitchen to train/practice something other than bedroom olympics or ironing?!?! in that case you've lost man points.

cheers dude :) the height difference is why i was thinking that the fishing type head torches that have a strap and are designed to sit on your forehead might be an option, having a p1sspot helmet would make this possible i'm guessing…

good question…. i think i'd need to be pretty impressed to feel the need to spend over 25quid on one. but then again someone might comment with an almighty argument of why its silly to spend less than 50 and i am a fool for considering such a price-range, i should hang up my bombers and p1ss in my shoes and so forth.

bloody hell, what about suspension on a bike… you dont need it to get down a hill but it does make it that little bit quicker and easier?!

if the OP is happy with his purchase, then its a good purchase IMO

(might not be something i would buy… but its not my money so who cares!)

+1 on Ronnie Wood and his then girlfriend (although this was after he was meant to have left her and supposedly should've been home with the wife!)

waiting in line at heathrow for the posh check-in with a patient who was being escorted out the country, he was behind me and she looked really bored…. they were taken out the line by a friendly member of staff "come this way mr wood"

martin clunes at the bridport farmers market… my mother can sense a puppy from about 5miles off and all of a sudden disappeared, found her playing with a puppy in the arms of MC, chatting away she didnt even look up to see who it was until about 15 minutes in haha, he was really chilled and happy to chat away, always says hi whenever we see him now :)

personally… i dont think its worth it molgrips, they dont bother us cyclists and i think it'd take some really idiotic cyclists to bother them! by attempting to swing an already ballanced relationship in the favour of cyclists it might put the MoD's back up and make them start thinking hard about people riding on their land.

also i think because there isnt any massive jumps etc it doesnt attract the kind of riding crowd that would cause trouble… just fine respectful gentlemen like ourselves ;)

    excellent thread, fight fight fight!!!

i always make an effort to say hi and smile to dog walkers, families, cyclists when i'm out on the bike…. i think its polite and i'd guess that about 60-70% smile and say hi back :)

the ones that dont say hi back.. well that's their choice, if the sight of a 6ft biker in body armour, dreadlocks etc coming towards them isnt what they feel comfortable saying hi to, then that's their choice… they might just be wrapped up in their own issues, wanting to be in the woods alone, listening to music or whatever… fair play to them.

if i rode on the road or to the shops etc then i doubt i'd be as enthusiastic about saying hi to everyone, but in the woods i think its important to at least say thanks to everyone who moves out the way or pulls their dog to the side etc

i'm one of those people who seems to have too much blood in my body, always hot, cant stand being in the sun too long as it just makes me angry, any biting insect can spot me a mile off and heads straight for me… and as a result my body works a million times harder to cool me down when on the bike etc… so…. very sweaty!

but think of it this way… if you're attacked and stabbed, you'll survive for longer. my other half appears to have no blood, always cold, never gets bitten, never gets sweaty… but at least she'll die before me in an accident and i'll have the last laugh!!!

as much as i chuckle when the other-half notices cows and turns into a 6 year old again… the gates do somewhat stop the flow of riding.

    agreed!!!

my childhood was spent on MOD land out the back of our house. rediscovering it as an adult on the bike has made me a happier person.
