“The address then became focussed on and Enforcement Officers (with warrants) started to take an interest”
An “enforcement officer” is no different to a “TV Licensing officer”
They use the words Enforcement and officer to scare the public into thinking they have some sort of legal power. They have no right of entry into your house whatsoever. A warrant can only be obtained from a court if the TV licensing can prove that there is reasonable grounds to believe you need a tv licence. Then the police have to visit with the warrant. Of the ones that do get fined, nearly all after admitting thay are using a tv and do not have a licence only get a couple of hundred quid fine.
I have been getting letters for 3 yrs to a property that doesn’t even have a house, only stables. They are just the same recycled ones, designed to scare you..
The link to the BBCtv licensing site posted earlier in thresd is full of usefull info.
http://www.bbctvlicence.com/index.htmpetergriffinFree MemberBloke walks into a fruit and veg shop. ” I’ll have a pound of carrots, a punnet of strawberries, pound of apples and half a pound of wasps.
” We dont sell wasps, we sell fruit and veg” says the greengrocer. Bloke says..
“Well, you got them in the window”petergriffinFree MemberStifled a fart in public. Taken from the Paul Calf school of etiquette..
petergriffinFree MemberMy mate used to leave me for dead on any climb. I recently started going to the gym doing the Stronglifts 5×5 training, which involves squats 3x a week. After a month of this, i now leave him behind. maybe he’s got less fit…or maybe i got stronger, either way, it worked for me in a short time. My legs feel much stronger and i find i can push a higher gear than i used to on sections of our regular ride.
Might be worth a try.petergriffinFree MemberApparently, although milk is thought of as low GI, it has a high insulin response. Cottage cheese is ok on the slow carb diet, if you want a bit of dairy..
petergriffinFree MemberBase fitness cheapest for 20KG. Didn’t have 16KG in stock ages back as well. Just got 16kG from another store on the bay for less than 30 Quid delivered.
Look up Viking Warrior conditioning for “An application of the theory behind VO2 max training”
You can find a free download if you look, and once you get past the “Viking Warrior” crap, it has some good stuff. Some vids on you tube as well, look for “15×15” conditioning.
Check out Dragondoor.com for loads of stuff about kettlebells and Pavel Tsatsouline.petergriffinFree MemberI find it amazing that someone starts a thread about Adele, and up pops the boyfirend that broke her heart and one of her teachers from the Brit academy or whatever it is called. Small world. I only know 2 of her songs anyway, Mrs Griffin likes her though.
petergriffinFree MemberBack to the original post topic…
Keep a food diary of your meals and check out the calorific values, plenty of websites for this, bit of a chore though.
Try cycling your carbs so that you have less carbs on non excercise days and more on excercise days. Don’t have a shed load of carbs in the evening if you can help it. Are you eating stuff you shouldn’t be eating? For eg, carrots are healthy and all that, but you get the energy/carbs mainly from sugars….insulin peak.. If you are stuck at a certain weight, you have got to a point where the Kcals you are eating are being burned at a rate that keeps you at a steady weight for the emount of activity you are doing…happy days, more specifically the type of energy ( Fats, proteins and carbs) you take in are being used at a certain rate.
You can try to alter the ratio of carbs/fats/protein you require to see if things change.
Having a calorie deficient diet will cause you to loose weight, but also muscle, reduce your energy, and can’t be sustained. Fats From nuts seeds etc, are not your enemy, you need fats to burn fat.
Depends really on how much you want to loose that last few percent of BF as to how much work you put into it.
Look on some body building websites, theres loads of info on diets, macro ratios etc which you will find usefull.
You must keep a day a week as a day of eating faster release carbs, your body has a natural mechanism to slow your metabolism down and the “day off” stops this happening. Slower matabolism means burning your Kcals slower…more excess over a 24 hr period…more fat storage
If all else fails, go to Boots chemist, ask for some Do Do chesteeze tabs, say you got a tight chest, (not asthma) combine 2 of these with a 200mg caffeine tablet and a 75mg aspirin twice a day for a week or so and see how you go…but google ECA stack First!!!
Personally lost about 8 to 9kg in about 3 months. Steady now for about 3 weeks on 72 KG ish, happy as i am at the minute. Basic slow carb/iDave diet. easy peasy!petergriffinFree MemberThanks for that chaps, i wondered for a minute if we were going down the ” is protein powder a waste of money” route, but well swerved!
What about the trubo, intervals or grinding out in hardest gear for muscle gain?petergriffinFree MemberI use one for the first time 2 days ago. 5 sets of 20 swings, with about a minute rest between sets. My legs are still sore, so must have done something!
Got mine, 20kg, off ebay £30 delivered.petergriffinFree MemberGoogle “ECA stack” or “PAGG Stack” for some pharmaceutical ways to loose body fat. The PAGG is not so hardcore as the ECA. Could also try “ketogenic Diet”
How far you go really depends on how much you really value getting to a low body fat percentage.
I’m not specifically recommending any of them…petergriffinFree MemberHaldon isn’t too far away, about 50 mins, and there’s also Woodbury common as well. Me and a mate regularly ride the coast path between Bucks Mills and Hartland, usually early in the mornings. There’s the Ruby Country Bridleway network, other half’s ( horse) riding club doing a ride along it soon, but haven’t been on any of it yet.
Drop me a line when you come down, email in profile.petergriffinFree MemberWhen i was 17, way back in the 80’s, i was shagging a nurse i met on holiday in Scarborough who used to go out with him. Small world.
petergriffinFree MemberBeen on the slo-carb/iDave for 4 weeks as from tomorrow. Weigh-in this morning, lost a total of 5.5 KG, 4 cm round my belly. Due to domestic stuff and work shifts, only ridden once in the month and bugger all else, so will see how month 2 goes. Feel generally better, not really craving bread, pasta etc. Cheat day today, but don’t seem bothered about sweet stuff etc. Happy days!
petergriffinFree MemberAnyone got any ideas for snacks, feeling weak between meals. Eating plenty when i do eat. brekky at about 07.30 ish, and don’t get chance for lunch till 1400, due to shift i’m on at present, don’t get home till 20.30, not really hunger as such, but feeling a bit weak between meals.Drinking plenty of water. Blood suger throughout the day is between 4 and 5 mmol, so slow carb doing its job, just need something rather than almonds to snack on. Halfway through week 3 so far. Anyone tried combining slo carb with a paleo type diet, to include some fruit etc?
petergriffinFree MemberTake it every morning when you wake up for about a week, and then use the average.
petergriffinFree MemberFaaz, i won’t quote, as i can’t do it, but if you ride on a bridlepath, you will come across both mud and horseshit.. no way round it i’m afraid.
petergriffinFree MemberThe part about bridleways was in response to the reply by Faaz on the previous page.
“don’t know if you use city multiuse paths but at 8am and 5pm they are like motorways. Cyclists are all travelling quickly commuting to and from work.
These are not safe places for toddlers or horses”.So, why was the safest option available for you to ride through the pile of horsedung, instead of applying your brakes?
Are these multi use city pathways not safe for pedestrians and toddlers then, due to …quote “Cyclists are all travelling quickly commuting to and from work.” Perhaps they should be closed during rush hour so all the cyclists gan get to work without the inconvenience of meeting any other path user…i think the term Multi use pathway sort of means just that…multi use, not just cyclists in a hurry.
Irrespective of the horse shit in the way, or…heaven forbid.. a toddler in a pushcair, grandad in his mobility scooter, etc etc, you were obviuosly travelling too fast.
petergriffinFree Memberbridle path
noun n [C] (UK also bridleway)
Definition
a track in the countryside that you ride horses on(Definition of bridle path noun from the Cambridge Advanced Learner’s Dictionary & Thesaurus © Cambridge University Press)
“
“John walks his dog every day. He clears up after his dog every day. It is november. It is very wet and muddy on the bridlepath John walks down. John notices that this is probably due to the large amount of horses that are ridden up and down it. John decides it would be best, to preserve his shoes and save him having to clean his dog before work, to take an alternative line, and walks slightly off the path where it is not so wet”.
Walk your dog somewhere else or stop moaning. Bridle path/ways were there for horses to use, long before people wanted to take dogs for a walk.
petergriffinFree Member“I don’t understand the British fascination with riding these beasts”
As far as i’m aware they ride horses in other countries as well..“I mean its not exercise, its not transport …. its completely pointless”.
You obviously don’t have a clue about horses do you.
“I came round a bend at reasonable speed today to be confronted by a few walkers side by side, oncoming bicycle traffic, and a large fresh horse poo.
The safest option for all concerned was to take on the poo.
Needless to say my mudguard wasn’t completely effective”.So, you came round a bend, on a route you knew would have pedestrians, horse riders and other cyclists, and you were going that fast that you couldn’t brake safely, but had to ride through a pile of horseshit, which must have been about a foot wide at the most.
You are now having a whinge about the fact your mudguards (obviuosly needed on the tarmac) didn’t protect you from a bit of poo.
Had the gap where the horse poo was been filled with a todddler in a pushchair what would you have done then?
I suggest you alter your riding style to suit the conditions, slow down, stop whinging and get a life.petergriffinFree MemberThe increased hydration is to ensure optimal liver function for fat loss. More important on cheat days as the carb overload will pull water to your digestive tract and muscle glycogen, which can result in dehydration/headaches.
The low Slow card/iDave diet will cause you to loose excess water/electrolytes.
I stuck to the diet last week apart from about 4 cups of coffee with milk, and the odd teaspoon of my daughters ready break when i was feeding her.petergriffinFree MemberWeek 2 weigh in this morning..same as last week! still on just under 3 KG from start weight though. Don’t know what happened last week. Only thing i think i did differently was i may have not have drank enough water. Anyone else had similar result..ie, same weight after a week?
petergriffinFree MemberObviously milk is Dairy, but i thought although it had a Low GI, the fact that makes it a no no is that it has a high insulinemic response, caused by the lactose…so hence the question about lactose free.
Anyone care to elaborate?petergriffinFree MemberAlready asked this, but didn’t get an answer, perhaps the main man can tell me…Lactose free milk..in or out?
petergriffinFree MemberIs lactose free milk ok? As I thought the lactose is what causes the insulin response in ordinary milk.
any ideas?petergriffinFree MemberDont eat quinoa on the iDave/slow carb diet….tasty as it is.
petergriffinFree MemberLook on the “Where do i find the iDiet” post, its there as a link.
petergriffinFree MemberSearch threads on here to find iDave diet, its here somewhere if Google no good.
Cut out white carbs, bread, pasta, rice. No fruit, sugars etc. No dairy, so thats milk, cheese etc, but cottage cheese ok in moderation.
Eat high protein breakfast ideally within 30 mins of waking, eggs, bacon, bit of spinach with blob of salsa.etc, try it. Replace spuds/rice with beans, you can mash butter beans with a bit of garlic to make fake mash if you want. Drink lots of water.
Eat as much as you like of this stuff, you need bigger portions to get the calories so you dont feel crap. One day a week, eat as much crap as you like..eat what ever you want.
It’s not a diet, but a different way of eating, it’s all to do with insulin response from certain foods. The day of eating what you want is so your metabolism doesn’t slow down.
I started it on Monday, lost almost 3 kg as of this morning, and that’s before i had a poo…( too much info??) and i’ve eaten like a pig all week without any excercise, not even been out on my bike.
Try it, it’s a piece of p*ss to do.
Do you think we ate fresh fruit every day 100 years ago?..no we didn’t , so don’t worry about the fruit. Pig out on your 1 day a week if you want.petergriffinFree MemberGoogle “Slow carb Diet” “iDave diet PDF” or “Four Hour Body”
Should find some stuff there, not specific recipies as such, but info on eating to reduce body fat.
petergriffinFree MemberJust found this for recipies…including lunch..
http://robbwolf.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/The-Slow-Carb-Cookbook.pdfHope the link works, as i’m crap on computers.
petergriffinFree MemberI started on Monday. Intended to start a couple of weeks ago, but postponed it for various reasons out of my controll.
The one i’m trying is called slo-carb..looks like it’s exactly the same thing as iDave, just different name.
I said on another thread ( couple of weeks ago) i would take some before and after pics, but decided against that. I took measurements and weight on monday morning as a reference.
Running out of ideas already for bean dishes, but so far so good. I have seen some reference about taking Potassium, Magnesium and Calcium supplements, as the diet means you loose excess water, along with electrolytes. Potassium solved by using Lo salt. Not sure if the recommendation for supps is just at the start, or throughout the diet?
Other half already fed up with my farting! paaaarrrp!petergriffinFree MemberDon’t forget your shades/make up/ hair gel etc. etc., so when Nick Nolte turns up with Helicopter Heroes, you look cool as **** when it comes on telly.
petergriffinFree MemberI studied for a couple of years to get extra qualifications so i could apply for the job that i thought that i wanted to do. But its still the same crap every day, Management are complete tossers, penny pinching at every opportunity, whilst missing the bigger picture. Can’t get the vehicles we work on fixed unless it’s between 9-5 Mon to Fri. Staff get no support from managers, hauled over the coals if you have a certain amount of periods of sickness in a 12 month rolling period. They expect people to do courses in their own time, up to 2 weeks a year if you want to progress. I could go on… but i won’t.
Now, a few years on, my old job doesn’t look too bad after all, none of the sh*t i have to put up with now.
So think long and hard about a change, you might not like what you eventually get.
Oh…forgot to mention, i work for the ambulance service!
